On the one hand, murders like this are typically done by someone the victim is not close to, and who recently crossed paths with.
On the other hand, something seems strange about this case, something doesn't add up... appears to be precipitating events ...

Just hoping we hear something soon. It's got to be nerve wracking for those that live near her.

Wonder how much LE's is telling her family....
At this point, what do we know?
Was she shot?
Did she own or have a gun in her house?
If shot has the gun been found?
If not shot what was used, has it been recovered?
Was murder weapon something from her house? If from house, then murder might not have been initially planned. If not from house, then more planned.
Was there any sign of forced entry?
Did home alarm have any panic buttons that could have been used even if alarm was off?
Was she sexually assulted? Before or after death?
Bood splatter analysis?
I'm sure there was a crime scene re-enactment - that would tell so so much.

But, at this point, clear LE does not want any outside help/interference.

BBM: LE stated at the first community meeting and it has been in news reports that there were no signs of forced entry. I got the feeling they thought that the public knowing this would feel safe in assuming she knew her attacker because she let them in.

If there's one thing we can be sure of its that LE does not want us interfering.

I was reading that something like 93% of all women murders were committed by someone the victim knew and around 75% were committed by a close intimate partner.

Sorry no link to verify stats. Does anyone else have any stats on this? I'm going by something I read the other day and now I can't find it.

Above BBM

THAT is where my mind is going ATM...

FWIW, Allison's BF (the plantiff) appears to be good friends (for years) with someone (one of three defendants) he took to court back in 1999. I see that person (one of the defendants) who has been friends/fb friends with AS for years, became FB friends with Allison after she started dating AS.

Just an observation.

Good observation. I'm going to go back and reread comments that set my radar off before on her FB.

Thanks for reminding me. There's been so much theorizing it's been difficult to stay on track. I think there is are clues out there we have been overlooking.
The perp is probably right in front of our nose.

Good points, Old Steve. I do remember LE said no forced entry. I think it was someone she knows. Not necessary someone that she had a romantic interest, but maybe a neighbor or someone that was going to do do some work on her home.

I wish we had more details as to if she was sexually assaulted or not. I really don't understand why they are keeping this information from us as it's an important issue in women's safety and I personally feel we have a right to know and it is their duty to tell us. Unless....it is something so completely bizarre that telling us would somehow tip off the killer.

I just can't seem to wrap my head around this secrecy.

I agree, MissD. I imagine living so close, you're very concerned. I wonder if they have a suspect, but just don't have enough for an arrest. I gather her BF hasn't spoke recently, either. I'd love to know why she insisted he leave to study when he could have done it at her house. I'm not accusing, but I find this odd. After all weren't they planning on getting married?

Could be that he didn't bring his books or she thought he would be distracted by her presence. The info comes from her sister. Did she herself receive that info from Allison, or did the bf or her mother tell her?

Luvrosco and SophieRose....

This is such an important question for many reasons. So far we have no idea where the sister got this information. My best guess is it was from Alex. I rationalize my opinion by the fact her parents never mentioned it. So I am assuming when the sister spoke with him, this is what he told her. Remember, she said he was inconsolable and stated to her that he wished he had been there.

That being said, hearsay, we do not know what she told him or what he told her. For all we know he might have told her he needed to go home and study. Or she might have felt she needed some time alone to prepare for her upcoming trip. Or...it is possible she planned to spend the evening with an old friend, or had appointments with contractors and really didn't want his input. Perhaps they had a little lovers quarrel and she sent him home.

When I was at the community meeting there was a rumor that he had to be removed from her house on Sunday. I haven't lent a lot of credence to this because according to LE they had never been to Allisons home before.

There was also a drawing of a homeless person being passed around by a lady in a tin foil hat. No one paid her any attention.

I wish Alex would speak up. I know if the love of my life had been brutally murdered I would be on every news channel there is begging LE to catch the killer.

Something doesn't seem right to me.

IMO

Actually, if I were her boyfriend, I would be telling the killer he better hope LE finds him before I do!

I wonder about the no forced entry... could she have been fooled somehow to open the door, thinking it was a neighbor, delivery man, etc.,; only to be greeted by a with a gun...

You are 10000% right! Repectfully BBM

Those stats fly in the face of my saying

or do they... it gets tricky because we need stats (which I can't find) that focus on attractive women, living alone, who are single, sexually attacked. (Again, knowing if it was sexual makes a world of difference here, and once again, why that is being withheld makes no sense to me... )

Steve, I'm sorry I don't know how to copy where you referenced "murders like these". :)

The problem is we don't really know what this murder was like because they won't even tell us COD.

PS... I really wasn't disagreeing with you. Lol Well, maybe just a tad!!! ;)

Stats are not that useful, Imo, considering one stat I always is see is that only about 60% of murders are solved, lol...

Yeah. What good are stats anyway? Unless statistically most "solved" murders are committed by a close intimate partner or family member. That is what I read.

This has some stats. Not the one I previouly read. Just a quick link. https://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/offenses/expanded_information/homicide.html

ETA: this kinda goes against the 93% I previously reported I read. This is probably much more accurate, meaning there's basically a 50/50 chance it was someone she knew.

That doesn't help much.

Okay this is what I was looking for. Statistics about women murder and violence.

http://www.apa.org/topics/violence/partner.aspx

More than one in three women and more than one in four men in the United States have experienced rape, physical violence and/or stalking by an intimate partner in their lifetime. 74 percent of all murder-suicides involved an intimate partner (spouse, common-law spouse, ex-spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend). Of these, 96 percent were women killed by their intimate partners. One in five female high school students reports being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner. Interpersonal violence is the leading cause of female homicides and injury-related deaths during pregnancy. The percentage of women who consider their mental health to be poor is almost three times higher among women with a history of violence than among those without. Women with disabilities have a 40 percent greater risk of intimate partner violence, especially severe violence, than women without disabilities.

Oh forget the statistics! I agree they don't really mean anything unless broken down the way Old Steve suggested or only solved crimes as Cluciano suggested.

Regardless of statistics, she was brutally murdered by someone. Someone capable of horrible brutal gruesome murder and most probably sexual assault as well, since she was found nude.

We don't know if we are dealing with a deranged maniac, a mentally disturbed kid, a jealous maniacal ex lover, a serial killer, or a first time burglar killer.

Whatever the case may be, it is a reminder of our own vulnerability!

We must be ever vigilant.
