Are they back in court tomorrow? Or today considering the time difference?

Hoping that it is today (my time) - though we probably won't hear until tonight, as has been usual so far.

Are they back in court tomorrow? Or today considering the time difference?

My recollection is that the next court date is indeed Wednesday, January 28 and since I think as I write this it is coming onto 8 a.m. Wednesday in Denpasar, depending upon when their proceedings were scheduled to begin, they could be in court within the next few hours.

Isn't this the day that the prosecution has to address issues like their "malformed" indictment? I wonder if the judges will make any rulings today.

If it's anything like last week, it will take several hours even after court has adjourned for any English language reports to emerge.

TS was in this crime up to his weepy eyeballs. I don't think it took all that much from HM, TS is a free loader. I can't imagine what his mother said to him. Smh

ciao

She has told fellow prisoners in the Wijaya Kusuma cell block of her intentions (to keep the baby in jail) - but that has not gone down well with several of the other women.

'Make arrangements to get your baby out of here,' one prisoner is reported to have angrily told her. 'We're fed up with being woken by crying babies.'

In an adjoining cell a prisoner in her late 30s is raising a baby which cries through the night, waking other inmates.

'This is what your baby is going to be doing - waking us up - and we don't want that,' Heather was told by one woman ...

Except I believe the reports indicated that he was there at the courthouse and even brought her a McDonald's beverage. :dunno:

Ah, yes. I forgot about that. Funny, because at the time I had joked in a post here that I hoped Mr. Ary had saved his drink receipt for trustee Mackoff. Thanks for reminding me.

I still don't know that having someone else read out the defense statement should necessarily be strange. If it is a perfunctory action, Mr. Ary may well have underlings do it so he can prove he's more than a one-man show as well as spend time holding client hands and keeping them satisfied with fancy beverages and generally ensuring that they are happy enough to continue to promise to pay him. He may tell his clients that the junior lawyers are there to read out the impressive legal documents he creates and that when they hire him, they hire a team "experienced in winning."

Sounds like a dangerous situation for the baby...

I was thinking that, too. Surely the baby's lawyer shouldn't/wouldn't be encouraging the baby to be left in Kerobokan with her. And perhaps should apply for some kind of court order to have the baby removed and put into a safe place where the baby won't interrupt other inmates' sleep and cause bad feelings.

Unless, of course, HM plans to move to a solitary cell, lay carpet, install a sauna ... with all of her 'food' money.

Except his Linked In puts him down as "self employed" and he sure doesn't indicate he has a "team" of anyone or even an office. Nice professional "lawyer" pic he's using as well. Anyone a member there to see if he has any more info than what I can see without a membership?

Miss Mack was seen receiving a fistful of local money from an Australian friend when she was in a holding cell at the Denpasar District Court last week.

 Who is that friend?!! Let me at 'em ..... :argue:

Oh pleeease! She gets to leave her cell room at 9 a.m. and has to be back by 3 p.m. each day.
She hangs around and finds a relaxing spot in the shade to chat with the other girls. There's crafts, learning a new language, waiting for her food to be delivered. No surprise she's adjusting wonderfully with some money to eat burgers and pizza. I'm sure she must be getting prenatal vitamins.

My opinion is she's going to use that baby as leverage one way or another -- either to get a lighter sentence, or a bigger piece of the estate, or a bigger, private room. IMO, she has psychopathic characteristics, might adjust well to prison, and even the baby might be just an object of means to get what she wants. Is she capable of real love? She's acting like she loves Tommy so much, but we'll just see. I'll be watching how this love story plays out.

MOO

The baby though gets my sympathy.

I don't think he is faking it either and I thought his Mom would probably give him a heaping dose of the gravity and reality of his situation once she arrived, obviously she could do it in the way only as our mothers can. As his mother I have no doubt she knows TS better than anyone and has a good idea of just how he found himself immersed in this quagmire with the puppetmaster HM.

RE: The escorting claim. I remember reading a post where someone indicated they had found an ad of his but don't recall seeing it even though I do remember searching for it. Can someone direct me to the confirmation please?

Tommy did have a listing for his escort services, well companion services, but it's no longer there. I didn't take a screen shot, but I saw it back then, and it looked like a real listing.

Warning to all, I got a virus warning trying to access the site now. (http://www.companions4women.com/comp...Tommy+Exx.html)

Trial Day 3 -- Non-English Report

Like last week, reports are coming in from non-English sources first. This one appears to be in Portuguese. The only useful element from the Google translated account is this:

On Wednesday (28), the prosecution said that the charges against the two were accurate, and asked the judge to continue the trial from the testimony of witnesses.

The story includes the quote from Sheila's friend Mark Bacharach, which I've not seen referenced in months, that Heather could be "a monster."

The accompanying photo, with each of the defendants in orange vests, makes them look like airport security guards or something odd like that. Tommy wears a tie.

Trial Day 3 -- Photo of "The Accused"

The Jakarta Post hasn't yet got a story, but does have a photo and caption with the headline to the entire thing reading "The Accused." More of the same: Heather guarding her precious face from those dangerous cameras and Tommy moving forward like a man on a death march.

Finally ... an article from a western source.

Indonesian prosecutors say the trial of an American couple charged with murdering the woman's mother should proceed despite defense arguments that the indictments are inaccurate and should be annulled.

State prosecutor Eddy Arta Wijaya argued Wednesday that the indictment and the charges are very clear.

Judges will decide if the trial should move forward next Monday.
