I'm thinking it is just about even money that Karr stays in CA and faces the charges here.

The longer he is here in CA, the better chance that CO will give up on this charade, and not continue to heighten their embarassment by taking him to CO.

CTV is having a special report at 12:30 so hopefully we will learn something new.

However, now that CO knows how to do internet searches for inculpatory statements on pedophile websiite chat rooms, perhaps the hullabaloo caused by the Karr arrest, will bring the real perp out of the woodwork, and back into the pedo chat rooms, where he can be focused on.

Then Boulder LE can then save face, by saying there was a method to their madness of extraditing Karr from Thailand.

I said it before and I'll say it again....I do wish the Thai folks would just shut up! They are so intent on being in on the 'big bust' that they have feed some untruths that have to now be sifted through. Cause ya know this case just isn't confusing enough. :p

I will fall off of my chair if Karr is the actual perp in the Jon Benet murder.

The reasons that I feel this way are:

In 1996, as compared to now, Karr was very much in his infancy in his young girls fantasy.

While it is true that he had just been dismissed from a substitue position for being overly friendly to young female students, he hadn't, as of that time, as far as we know, yet begun to become the outwardly weird, and totally obsessed, individual, he is today.

The person he is today, most likely possesses the attributes needed to commit the Jon Benet murder type of crime.

The person that he was in 1996 wasn't even close to being able to commit that type of crime.

In 2000, with his moving his family to Petaluma, CA, JMK was apparently more obsessed with the Polly Klass murder, than he was with the Jon Benet murder.

Buzz, there are compelling matches to be found using Karr's handwriting comparative in his year high-school yearbook versus the ransom note.

I hold Karr to be presumed guilty, but a confession by a man with his emerging profile and no alibi is highly probative on its own, and a 1982 year old handwriting specimen that matches up with key characteristics in the 1996 ransom note puts a lot of pressure on the reasonable doubt guage.

Morevoer, his year book closing matches with the mysterious closing acronym in the ransom book (S.B.T.C. .... Victory), which adds still more pressure to the needle.

Unless exonerating evidence is produced, the D.A. has a case that will be tried.

I agree. I wouldn't be thinking 'Can't touch her..might contaminate the scene. I'd want to touch my baby to see if she was alive, hold her, love her, say good bye.

etc.

I watched the interview with the lady officer first assigned to the Ramseys' home to wait for the phone call, etc. and the whole process was faulty. It started with the first officer at the scene leaving. To leaving the lady officer there alone. To her her calling several times for back up and being told everyone was in a meeting, to when JonBenet was found and afterwards.

I thought in a suspected kidnapping the FBI was called????? The police acted like this was just some casual stroll in the park and that JonBenet was going to come waltzing back in the door.

I really believe that unless someone confesses and has actually proof they they did it, investigative practices will never be able to bring the perp to justice.
FBI Agent Ron Walker was there from early on that morning. He left when JonBenet was found dead because the crime switched from a kidnapping to a murder, and the Feds no longer had jurisdiction.

At 2:45pm, 26 December 1996, Boulder Colorado Detective Division Commander John Eller returned to the “Situation Room” at the Boulder Police Department. JonBenet Ramsey’s body had just been found, turning what had been a kidnapping investigation into a murder investigation. A couple of Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) agents who had been called in to assist in the kidnapping investigation, waited there. The agents had been called into to assist the Boulder Police since by act of congress, kidnapping is a Federal crime. However, since this kidnapping was actually a murder, the Agents prepared to leave, but wanted a word before they departed. “’This is now a homicide,’ said one. ‘It [JonBenet Ramsey’s murder]’s local, so it’s not our case.’ Agent Ron Walker added, ‘Look at the parents. No bull***** that is where you need to be.’” (Thomas, p36)

“Look at the parents.” These words seem incomprehensible in their monstrosity. The FBI agent asserted that the lead suspects in the case of a sexually assaulted and murdered little girl were her own parents. For the average person who otherwise has never encounter such a brutal crime, and in that group of average people are included the Boulder City Detectives, the idea of a parent doing something so horrendous is hard to contemplate. Yet the FBI agent spoke from studied experience. “Only about 6 percent of all child murders are committed by complete strangers, while an overwhelming 54 percent are committed by family members.” (Thomas, p35)

I have heard this also. Since when do you need permission? I'm sure that Scott Peterson wouldn't have gave permission if asked. Wouldn't a judge just have to sign a court order for this?

I'm very surprised that Karr's DNA hasn't yet, depending on who we believe, been pursued. Normally DNA is the first thing checked in any investigation. Karr has now been here, going on three days, and according to his advisor attorney, DNA hasn't been taken yet. What's wrong with this picture??

you know theyve snuck some sort of dna to the lab.....i would if i were the LE on the case.

Buzz, in a trial, the technician that does the DNA work will be called to the witness stand. As best as possible, the prosecutor will want a DNA specimen with, as best as can be had, an audit trail that establishes clear possession and passing linkage.

I am more interested in which lab the D.A. will select to perform the DNA analyses. I am not sure if the D.A.'s office trusts the CBI to do the work in an unbiased manner.

Statement from Lara's attorney states that she has not located a photograph with JMK on Christmas 1996 but continues to believe that he was with them during the 1996 Christmas holidays.

Mushy, is that the breaking news we have been waiting for?? LOL

Buzz,

LOL, yes I think so. NO PHOTOGRAPH FOUND! I've been waiting for days for this picture, oh well, back to square one.

Wudge, I am still wondering if JMK will actually be transferred to CO. Someone mentioned that DA Mary Lacy seemed to be backing off on the alleged inculpatory email statements, as they have found mention of some of these statements on websites. It appears that CO is definitely using the CA holding cell to buy time in their investigation. While the Karr family hasn't yet located a photograph, as evidence of JMK's attendance during Christmas 1996, neither have we heard, excepting JMK's alleged confession, of evidence of Karr being in CO at that time. In the same breath, Michael Tracey's credibility is being questioned because of past allegedly illicit actions.

I heard a little bit ago on CTV that the CO DA's office released a statement stating that they will be picking him up but they are not going to release when.

Well it might take more than a Handwriting analyst to solve the mystery of is Karr the guy.

The article does say that "sniping" is common in the field. But if this turns into a he said she said on handwriting, then I for one hope that they have more than handwriting.

A handwriting analyst who said he is 99.9 percent certain that John Mark Karr wrote the JonBenet Ramsey ransom note was disqualified as an expert witness earlier this year by a federal judge who challenged his expertise.

Georgia Federal District Court Judge Clay Land wrote that analyst Curtis Baggett was not certified by several industry groups, had not undergone proficiency tests and had not authored texts in the field of handwriting analysis. In comparison to another expert witness, Land said Baggett's qualifications "are clearly paltry."

lol...yeah, so much for this 'expert'
