Well, since Britney has stated that her career is putting her child in danger (i.e., having to flee from photographers) and she has stated that she will do anything to protect her child, I guess Brit will be retiring from show biz and move to some small town so that she no longer has to worry about her celebrity putting her child at risk. Right?

I guess I'm not too bright, because I don't see what Britney was "protecting" her child from? From having his picture taken? Did she think the paparzzi was going to kidnap the kid? What exactly did she have to "flea" from??? :waitasec: :waitasec: :waitasec:

Someone told me they saw Gloria Allred last night talking about this on one of the news shows last night. Did anyone catch that? I wondered what she had to say.

Nope, I didnt' see it but can only imagine what she had to say about it. Bet she tore Brit a new one...

Just another stupid mistake that she is trying to lie her way out of.

Britney didn't looked panicked at all in the pic I was - she seemed pretty relaxed as a matter of fact. If she was truly afraid, she could have just locked the car doors, buckled her child in and driven away. I'm not buying her story at all.

I don't think anyone is.

LOS ANGELES - Authorities were investigating an incident in which Britney Spears was photographed driving with her infant son on her lap, but didn't intend to pursue charges against the pop star, officials said.

The sheriff's department won't pursue any charges, Deputy Luis Castro said.

"Unless a deputy saw the violation, there's nothing we can do," he said. "We don't even know if this took place in our jurisdiction."

DK note: So if someone takes a picture of a murder, it doesn't matter because a deputy didn't see it? And as far as jurisdiction, just ask the people taking the picture where it was. Yeah, they could lie about it, but this sounds more like LE giving a celeb a break that the rest of us wouldn't get. :bang:

I hear you DK. If someone takes a picture of you murdering someone, does that mean you can get off? Of course not! That is just BS! Yep, they are giving her a break. Also, you know those machines that snap your plate and send you a ticket in the mail for speeding or running a red light? I guess those shouldn't be allowed either...no policeman was there to be a witness now is there? What about those little cameras at the stores and banks? I guess we should all be allowed bad behavior if the policeman isn't there huh? What a freaking crock.:banghead: Yep, the woman is a fool.

I understand the frustration, but just had to clarify - don't shoot me, okay? But, that is true - an officer cannot issue a citation for a traffic infraction not witnessed directly by him/her. There's your LE lesson of the day, hehe. It's been a few years for me, but I'm sure that hasn't changed. Same reason you can't call in your neighbor for speeding, etc. after the fact. Oh, I'd love to be able to give some tickets to some drivers I see on the road - and those that don't use car seats for little children ;) I have no patience with that. None whatsoever. The best you can do is call 911 and hope there's an officer in the vacinity that can intercept. That often works well

What about the speed machines that I mentioned in my above post? They do give tickets based on the pic taken.

I will show my ignorance on those; at the time I was working the road, our county (in California) didn't have any, and the larger county that did - used them for about a year - and then stopped using them BECAUSE of lawsuits. IIRC, it did have to do with proving the timing mechanism wasn't off - and they couldn't do that at the time, and also something to do with no officer to testify in court that was a direct witness (because, in a court of law you do have the right to face your accuser.) But, like I said, our county didn't have any, and we didn't do the majority of the traffic enforcement (versus city PD's who do, or Highway Patrol for unincorporated areas).

Are they common here in Texas? I'd think a lot of places no longer use them, or at least could be questioned in a court of law. If it were me, I'd at least fight it, LOL!

And back to Brit - arghhhhhh. BS a mile long.... poor kid.

Hey guys, you need to give Britney a break.

After all she needed her baby in her lap to hold her Red Bull and Marlboro while she steered.
:D

And a maddening comment I heard from a local agency around here (I know I'm getting OT, but I need to vent) - a friend was getting frustrated with all the red light runners in our area, and one day she saw a flagrant violation at a major intersection, and a cop in another left turn lane. He had to have seen it as well. Down the road, when he parked, she stopped and asked him why he (and others in our area) don't write more red light running tickets when it's common knowledge that it's bad at that intersection. He told her it was because they often don't have 2 (yes, 2) cops that witnessed the violation, and it takes 2. WHAAAATTTT? OMG. How about just admitting: 1) you're either too lazy, or 2) the agency needs to train their trainers again if they actually believe that hooey. :loser:

Sorry about going OT about that. But hey, if you live in our area, feel free to run the red lights!

They're all over Texas. Many cities are spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to have them installed - they're that good! LOL Basically, I don't see what LE could have done except issue her a citation. Hopefully, she'd learned a more valuable lesson here.

You can tell I don't hang out in the major cities, I guess! They must have improved them then, which I'm sure they have (the ones that were installed and then not used in Ca were from about 1998).

I do hope they gave her a good lashing, but I don't see how they could give her a citation, legally. She deserved it.

I think she put her child in more danger than the paparazzi did! He should have been in a car seat.

I know of someone who had her baby in her lap in the passenger seat and her hubby slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting a cat. No one was belted in and the poor baby was crushed between her and the dash and died. They were only doing about 30mph but even then, the force it tremendous.

So very very sad. Yep...Brit is so into herself, she is not thinking about that poor child.

Why have a bodyguard if all he's gonna do is sit in the passenger seat? He couldn't drive? He couldn't hold the kid?

I heard on the news yesterday that Brit drove TO the Starbucks with baby in the car seat; then when body guard went in, she got baby out and was holding him; and then paparazzi started - and that's when she drove off with him in her lap. At least in the still photos on TV, she didn't look scared, fearful, upset AT ALL. Nope, those photos don't match her story, IMO. :furious: Not surprising, though.

Perhaps she should have let her bodyguard drive and she sit in the back seat next to her son in his carseat. I would only hope that the bodyguard gave her a rash of chit for her antics.
he was too busy talking on the phone.

This make me furious. If it was me holding my baby on my lap I would have CPS beating down my door, but because she is "brittany spears" nothing will happen. Now i was wathing The View yesterday and i usually dont watch that too much, but they were actually defending brittany saying "shes a young mom" she was scared, the photographers are crazy and relentless, blah blah.....I was surprised they actually took up for her. I think Joy was the only one who said " she could have put the baby in the seat or atleast let the bodyguard drive and get in the back". I dont know what goes through this girls mind..
