My hope is that this was an isolated incident and not the start of something larger.
Just one or more persons with a grudge who decided to take revenge ?

There's this thing called "agreeing to disagree" ... For myself --and probably many, if not everyone on this forum-- I'd rather be ALIVE and appreciate other differences of opinion than to fly into a murderous rage, kill innocent people, and lose my own life as well. Smdh.

I don't think it's far fetched that someone could get a family member, significant other, or close friend to help them shoot up their workplace.

I don't either, but IMO that would imply this was planned ahead of time. Like sure you could get a friend or relative to help you out, but you would need to give advance notice.

A man and a woman connected to a mass shooting that left 14 people dead and 17 wounded in San Bernardino*were killed in a firefight with police officers after a car chase Wednesday, authorities said.

Two law enforcement sources identified one of the suspects as Syed Farook. Two separate law enforcement sources said one of the suspected gunmen was an American citizen, but declined to identify them.

According to the New York Daily News, Mr. Farook’s father, whom the paper did not name, confirmed in an interview that his son inspected restaurants and hotels for health violations, and was married with a child.

He also identified his son as “very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He’s Muslim.”

One of the suspects in Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif. has been identified as Syed Farook, according to reports.

Farook was linked to the horrific slaughter that took place at the Inland Regional Center, according to NBC News.

After police announced that two suspects — a male and a female — were dead following a car chase and shoot out with police, a search began at a nearby Redlands apartment linked to the suspects.

One of the shooter has been identified as Syed Farook.

This is from 2014, but this lists mass shootings by country. Scroll down for a chart. Most countries in this list had between 0 to 6 mass shootings between 2000 and 2014. The United States had 133. It does appear for sure that 2015 is worse than years previous. I am not sure how mass shooting was defined in this chart - some researchers define it by the number of victims.

As far as the other name goes, I haven't found anything else yet. YES, the name is close to the Egyptian President or Prime Minister..but a lot of names are similar in every language/culture.

Now I know why I don't come here much anymore. TBH, I'm tired of the snarkiness and "shooting the messenger" BS when a few of us are just trying to provide actual REAL info of what's out there.

They're estranged but he still knows that? How long since he last saw his son?

I feel terrible for their kid. Gah. Imagine that's the legacy your parents leave you.
