Last month, Miller [the landlord] e-mailed her tenants to let them know she would be selling her properties because her husband was ailing. Farook replied that he was interested in buying the place he was renting.

I don't understand why the FBI released that property and let all those reporters etc. in, so quickly. I would have thought they would have at least finger-printed every last item in that place, to see exactly who had been that apt. and find out what their link to that sick couple could have been.

and everyone believes cell phones "save time" it is IMO just dumb

I wasn't even a twinkle in the 50's. Altho I would of loved it.
I hear you and empathise. I worry about what world my kids are going to have to deal with. My life growing up seemed so carefree and easy. I do feel for them.
They can't climb trees. Eat fallen fruit. Skinny dip. Get on a bike early morning n return supper time. Play conkers. Sing nursery rhymes. PC has a LOT to answer for!
I do hope those all over the world who've had someone taken by evil find each day a lil easier. And can come to terms with their grief and live again. We can't let the evil win.

Yes, we had to be home in the summer when the street lights came on. As a child I was not aware of polio, or the Korean War. My family was poor, but I didn't feel poor. Summers were drippy popsicles, public swimming pool (and we didn't require adults to take us there). Winters were sledding down the huge hill, our knitted mittens becoming solid lumps of ice, our toes frozen (no fancy thermal wear available then). Got home, Mom made hot chocolate and we'd watch, yes, Leave It To Beaver and other shows that maybe were not reality, but they WERE closer to reality than the Kardashians are to us today. It wasn't perfect, but there was a lot more innocence.

LOL, so funny. Yes, and when we "partied" we sent invitations, got on nice clothes, put out the potato chips and coke and ginger ale. We all brought our favourite records and danced (well, this is until high school, then there was a bit of kissing and other stuff). i do not know but i wonder now days if there are cameras that can "do" fingerprints without like "dust"

I agree. Crazy. The police did release the property back to the owner, but WHY so soon? And why was there not black ink all over the walls and furniture for fingerprinting. It looks like NO fingerprints were taken. I had an attempted break in once, and the walls all around the window where the attempt was made was a bloody mess to clean up (alarm went off, he ran).

Wouldn't they just say "Mom, can you keep your eye on the baby while we go to the Dr".

And, are we to assume that they changed into their "war gear" in the garage, otherwise Mom might be a big curious????

I think Mom knew more than she shared.

Only thing I can think is that maybe the mother watched other grandchildren at one of the siblings houses and they took the baby to that house.

Ahhh heaven. Yes life was simpler. No frills. A lil bit of dirt didn't hurt. Gosh now everything has to be hospital sanitised. Homes anti bacterial this and that. No wonder our Anti biotic medicines aren't fit for purpose anymore. The germs they've morphed into a hybrid. Far too much prissiness.

I want to go back NOT to prior 9/11, I want a 1950's Leave It To Beaver life. I don't like that this is the world my children, and eventually their children, will inherit. A political and environmental mess is what they've inherited. WWIII is not impossible. I'm really down tonight. My heart goes out to the families of those killed or injured. And the psychological harm done to all of the survivors must be immense.

The 50's was no bed of roses for everyone, I can remember that far back. There were lots of problems just different ones. If you were white you didn't need to worry about terrorists any other color and you were on your own. Native American children were ripped from their homes and shipped off to boarding schools, blacks were lynched, on and on. Heaven forbid if you were different in any way.

As in the San Bernarndino massacre, the jihadi terrorists use the element of surprise when making an attack on unsuspecting innocent victims. Seems, the only sure way to minimize life loss is to avoid soft targets whenever possible, apply for a CCP, and arm yourself. When seconds are critical, sadly law enforcement is only minutes away.. Even though police were down the street from the SB, CA, massacre when the 911 calls came in, the shooters were long gone before their arrival..

I think the texts with the mosque guy are a red herring here, they're the type of thing that's bound to look suspicious at first glance given the nature of the crime, but looked at close up the suspicion dissolves. They were sent over the course of 16 days, during which the mosque guy was trying to arrange who brought what to the muslim equivalent of a Christmas party, or New Year's party.

I think mosque guy is being falsely implicated here. Look to the money order and the internet connections would be my gut feeling. The poor guy at the local mosque is probably torn between horror at what one of his congregation has just done, and fear that he's about to be shipped off to Guantanamo Bay.
