Hi there @LaurieRaquel im glad you are here and we are all hoping for Barb.

I hope you have begun the verified insider process so that you can offer information that is normally hard to discuss without violating TOS. You could then share your knowledge without having to have a link to MSM to back it up. We’d all think that would be helpful, I am sure.

I wonder how or when you found out that Robert’s phone and computers were confiscated? I can’t remember reading that.

Of course, but why would it be important?
According to Robert that was not the purpose of the walk. He stated they decided to stop and look at rock formations and take pictures.

I'm not sure I understamd what difference it makes whether she decided to pick up rocks or not?

Is the implication that Robert was lying about the purpose of the trip? If so, what would be the reason?

Regarding: picking up rocks.

As I see it, the implication is that if RT is telling the truth, she might have gone off-trail looking at interesting things, and so gotten lost. In other words, even if her stated and actual intention was to walk back to the RV, she might have changed her mind, if faced with something interesting along the path. (And, this seems to be something that would be in character for her to do.)

I was just responding to your post in which you seemed to imply that it was. You said:
"I've never heard anything about her hunting for rocks that day.
All we've heard is that they wanted to stop and look at the rock formations and take pictures.
Picking up small rocks for a collection is different. If she planned to do that, we have not heard amything about it."

I don't think there was any single "purpose". They just went for a walk in the desert because they find it enjoyable for a number of reasons. Looking at geological formations and flora, taking photos, picking up pretty stones, watching wildlife, enjoying the scenery, the multiple reasons why people explore the countryside. Any or all of those things. It's just something she might have done.

Have we actually heard if Barbara’s scent was picked up anywhere in the area she was supposed to be in?

This would be a big clue in this puzzle.

We have not heard a word about whether Barbara’s scent was picked up anywhere. We have a video of some delightful tracking/trailing dogs searching vigorously, but I haven’t seen a post from a Verified Dog Handler to explain what’s going on with them.

I thought of something this morning that I don't think has been discussed previously. Has the FBI offered to help in this investigation? Has LE or the family contacted them? RT and BT lived in AZ and BT allegedly went missing in CA, crossing state lines. Would the FBI be able to help?

sbm.
I think it's interesting how he mentions the beer and the highway as two reasons he thinks she may have been abducted.
In any other case yes maybe, but this "highway" is in the middle of nowhere with only the occasional vehicle driving by, and didn't she keep the beer in some kind of cup?
So how is her having to cross a nearly empty road with a mug in her hand relevant to anything?

It's been said Barbara is in good health, but what about him?
If his story is true, I think we can rule out she went to explore on her way back, as he said she went ahead "because she wanted to use the RV." But if he took longer than he remembers, maybe she went for a walk as she waited? Refreshed with water and a snack she could have gone quite far before becoming disoriented/ realising she was lost in a totally different area than where the searches have been.
jmo etc.

eta @Lilibet saw your post after I posted, we're having the same thoughts here =)
I read the interview a couple of days ago and felt neutral but then actually listened to it just last night. He says he thinks she was taken because “she WAS wearing bikini and carrying a beer.” Like, well of COURSE that would make someone grab her. The emphasis made it “read” differently to me.
I’m new to posting here but have been reading the forums for a long time. That said, is it just me or does anyone else think it’s odd that a 69 year old woman would be out in the desert in a bikini and hiking boots? I know there is a photo of her but couldn’t that have been taken while at their trailer/RV where she could be in an out of the sun.

I do understand that she was use to the dry heat but still, hiking in a bikini just doesn’t make sense to me.

Worth noting Rob and his family both mentioned they had cancelled the flights (?!?!) and Rob informed my family we should cancel the hotel reservations (?!?!?!?!?!).
When you say Rob and his family both, did they both notify your family on the 16th? Did they (rob and his family) say “we” cancelled the flights? Could that have been a slip and he was saying he and Barb cancelled? Or was it Rob and the other family member?

Edited typo

They should have been informed on the 12th in the middle of all hell breaking loose in his life..
jmho

I think if for any other reason than to say “have you heard from her?” If he truly thought she was abducted wouldn’t the idea of ransom cross his mind? I’d be calling everyone I could right away asking for help. Telling EVERYONE I know to post on social media... doesn’t seem like that happened here.

I noticed on profile posts that @dbdb11 already asked for David’s help on Thursday. I hope he heard back. If not, he may want to contact him by email.

Huffington Post directs people to David’s website to contact him, but I don’t see contact info there.

Oh, sorry, I never meant to imply that it was important at all.

Sorry if anyone interpreted it that way.

I was just trying to answer the post asking where the idea of hunting for rocks came from. I was curious about the relevance myself.
Robert said they decided to stop to look at the rock formations so I was just pointing that out as a possible purpose.

Hmmmm...not visible to me on the link I posted. Can you repost what you see?

Where is Not There?
^ snipped for focus.

Agreeing w above, but -------------------------- (there's always a 'but' isn't there?)
"Not there" means not in SAR's prescribed, planned search area, in this case covered intensively for 12(?) days. Is it possible BT's remains are outside SAR's designated search area - 1/4 mi? 1/2 mi? or further? Not saying she is, just a possibility.

______________________________________________
I am not criticizing this SAR team. I bet all SARs always wish they could always put more boots, dogs, ATVs, & horses on the ground and more drones & choppers in the air, until they locate the subject, preferably alive. But they work w info provided by others (husband here) which may be inadvertently or deliberately inaccurate for various reasons. And the heat, for crying out loud. 100 deg. F may be terrific for an hour or two of Kindle-ing on a lounge chair, w an iced drink at hand. For stomping around thorny, spiny plants on uneven, rocky terrain, and weighted down w SAR gear they carry? Not so much. All jmo.
You have to ask yourself how far you think a fit, active, outdoorsy 69-year-old woman would venture from the road on a 100+ degree day.

Yes, I emailed wsverify to begin the process but haven't heard back yet. I will not share anything else I've heard through the grapevine until that is complete. Thanks!

Welcome to WS, fallingup13!

I agree that it seems odd to many people, but we’ve already heard from her nephew, Verified Insider @dbdb11, saying that it was the sort of thing she’d do. And we’ve had a number of desert rats, (a loving title,) chime in and say that it’s what they or their friends would do. So, after hearing that, I’m not fretting about the bikini. I know enough about the desert to definitely not fret about the hiking boots.

Here are two pictures from Jodi Miller's Twitter, LE 's spokesperson about Barbara's case.

This seems to be the area where Barbara went missing, here they were searching for her there.
It gives an insight as to why Robert said she walked around the corner, why he would be making pictures of these pretty impressive rock formations and about the area.

Thank you for the nice welcome!
And for this information. I didn’t realize that people would actually go out in the desert without being covered up. I’m on the Northern East Coast and can’t imagine that!

Right after the first paragraph. All those buttons.

My family was informed of her disappearance on July 16th. In informing my family Rob mentioned he had cancelled the flights. His family members later repeated that her flights had been cancelled when I tried to reach Robbie by phone.

In the first conversation he had with my family Robbie also said they should cancel the hotel reservations because "she's not gonna make it." endquote.

The source for last sighting is a neighbour's surveillance cam. I'm still waiting to see this footage, but I am trusting the source.

That was discussed in the first thread. The fact that RT was calling to let her family know that she wasn’t going to be able to visit because she is missing.
