BBM As we have noticed in many missing persons cases "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". No one was squeaking in this case. There was no effort on the part of family to search for Bob. They were not demanding answers, as most of us with a missing loved one would do. In fact all efforts were to silence any noise relating to a potential crime. Blessings to all on this site who have worked tirelessly to keep this case open. Bob and Fontelle deserve justice.

That post by travelbug sent me off exploring 'Samaritan laws' worldwide. Unfortunately, although all close family members in California failed to report Bob missing, it doesn't seem like any laws were broken.

Samaritan laws have very different interpretations in different countries though - in Argentinia you can be prosecuted for failing to call police when someone is in need, and in France I have a hard job working out exactly how they operate their law; I understand their actual law but their interpretation of it seems to work more on a 'feeling' of what is right. By that criteria, the stunning lack of action in CA (compared to Mrs Harrod making a missing report in MO) would certainly have the 'wrong' feel.

CA isn't France though, but I hope they have one thing in common; in France at the moment, hikers, walkers and hunters are combing wildlands for the body of a little missing girl (her mother confessed she and boyfriend buried the tot somewhere). They are even conducting a 'missing shovel' search now, in the hope of turning up a shred of information. I hope hikers and hunters and outdoor enthusiasts in California are doing the same for Bob too.

I am thinking of Bob and Fontelle today. Especially Fontelle, as days like this must be so hard.
 
I think OC investigators must have their hands full at the moment. There have been some horrendous, mystifying crimes recently - and some frankly odd ones too.

A '13 year old' was abducted but it turned out to be a 30 year old non-abductee, and now someone has been attacked by a camel??

I hope things calm down soon because I'd like to think investigators are able to devote time to Bob's case. I suspect everything is being thrown into the San Juan Capistrano double homicide investigation at the moment - as it should be, with an 8 year old being shot as well.

Just reading around a bit, cold case investigations seem to take twice as long as the original investigations; or the active part of those original investigations, at least. So I am going to learn to be patient. I'm sure something is stirring in Bob's case but I'm equally sure we won't hear a whisper until there is suddenly an arrest.
 
In Jan 2012 Senior OC Deputy DA Matt Murphy had never lost a homicide case.

I'm dying to know if that record still stands but don't know how to find out, except by the long-winded process of finding every case he's prosecuted since then. Still, it's pretty confidence-inspiring that OC really does seem to have some top class prosecutors on its team. And they work hand-in-hand with the cold case investigators too. :)

I don't know what to say really, except it's obviously no region for an 81-year-old to disappear and nobody be concerned. And I don't really understand people keeping dogs outside at night on their own - anything could happen, hence the lion attack. If it's for security purposes - I'd rather have a dog inside with me than shut outside during a burglary. It made me very sad to read about that poor mutt. Nobody there to help him, like Bob. :(
 
This discovery in Irwindale is only about 30 miles from where Bob disappeared. Near Glendora. An on-scene remark from LE suggests the remains are relatively recent, but other reports say they are skeletal.

There is also mention of a homeless encampment nearby and wildlife, rather than human activity, being responsible for missing parts. But if it is old remains, not that far from Placentia, I will keep my eyes on this one anyway.

Heartbreaking tale from Bill Johnson of a Garden Grove 86 year-old being financially scammed for $44,000 here, her life savings. And taking out a $10,000 loan on top.

She thought the people were her former son-in-law and long-term financial advisor. The article mentions it is confirmed someone was impersonating her financial adviser. I can't see any mention of if the former SIL has been contacted. Whoever it was, knew enough to call her Mama, as her formers SILs did.

OC seems to get more than its fair share of complicated financial crimes, but I suppose that's because there are a good number of wealthy people there. I guess OC investigators are quite experienced in untangling them now. I hope they catch whoever did this to that poor former librarian. And I hope they catch whoever disappeared Bob too.

There has been no media since and I can't find anything in Namus. So who is it? It's only about 15 miles, I think, from where the McStay family were discovered. Some remains were missing there, so I'm wondering if an animal could have take a skull that far.....or if, indeed, it could be Bob?

Won't pry but hope you are happy and doing okay and the bad weather hasn't got you.

I don't think that skull fragment can have been checked against Bob yet, as it's not even entered into Namus. Maybe they haven't been able to obtain DNA?

From what the article states it sounds like the area was not yet completely searched. I wonder what else they might have found.

We'll have to keep an eye on this. It's about an hours drive from Placentia according to google maps.

Could it be Kathryn's case? She was last seen at a store on the intersection of Phelan and Sheep Creek roads in 2008. She was located but I'm not sure police managed to find all her remains.

Sheep Creek rd was also mentioned in the McStay case, I recall. I'm not sure if Phelan was too.

Another no-body trial is coming up, next door to Orange County. An elderly lady who police believe has been dumped in the wilderness somewhere. I'll link her case tomorrow when I make a thread for her, as she doesn't have one here yet.
