A few thoughts - I am on tapatalk so forgive me for no links and typos

1. They were at the casino from 9.30 to 2 pm and were said to have not eaten a thing. This is shocking to me especially for ppl who have diabetes and the fact that older ppl tend to stick to their meal schedules. I am 27 and I never go that long without eating..
2. I believe it was reported that they planned to return home the same day, hence not bringing insulin with them or extra provisions. The son was hopeful due to the fact they had 'desserts' with them. Forgive me, but that is a LONG day for an older couple. My Gpa is 83 and only drives 6 or so hours in an entire day to go somewhere. To leave their house by 8, casino 9.30 to 2. Approx 2+ hr drive to be at the sons by 4pm (they surely would have been late, right?), hang out and BBQ and then make the entire trek back home that day?? I don't know many older folks that would do such a long day.. Why wouldn't they just stay overnight?
3. Why would LE have any reason NOT to release surveillance footage, unless there was something sinister about it...? Not necessarily a rhetorical question, if you can think of a reason, please share!

Haha thanks. This might not be their first rodeo. If they use this casino often for theiving from people, it's possible they will return in a few weeks for their next escapade.

I think it is very important to know if Cecil and Dianna won a lot of money, and perhaps that is where the top secret parallel conversation comes in.

And a quiet parallel investigation would happen because casinos are loathe to admit they have a crime problem associated with them. It scares away business. I wonder if this casino had player's cards which would keep track of slot activity and payouts? Hopefully LE has asked for that kind of info, if available.

i was looking at their donation site (filter doesn't allow the name, apparently) started by one of the missing couple's kids, and in the comments section s/he has stated that "they didn't win any money" at the casino.

Been following this case along with you all. So worried for the missing pair, and feel so bad for their kids.

According to this question someone answered on the FB groups - No, they didn't win anything much. And they do have player's cards, so they were able to look at that activity.

They could have had a snack or even a meal at the casino. Casinos are notorious for providing everything for you there under one roof so that you never have to leave. ;) Whether you just need a little pick-me-up or a gourmet dinner, you can always get one inside the same building. (I've never been to this casino, but they'd be plain stupid to not have food and shops.)

One thing concerned me after reading a post from someone here who mentioned that a relative of theirs has "lost" their phone numerous times at this very casino, the final time culminating in a phone call that was pretty much like, "Give me $200 and I'll give you your phone back" -- which makes me think that pickpocketing is probably common at this place. Anyone here know this casino well and can verify if there are sketchier people than usual about? They tend to prey on the weak, the oblivious, and the older, unfortunately. What if one of them or both were pickpocketed?

Someone also brought up the possibility of their driving directly back to their own home, perhaps if one of them felt sick. That would be a whole new, and much larger search area - I wonder how much of that route has been checked?

I thought it was verified on a news link that they were not seen on video eating at the casino?
I will try to find the link. Maybe it was in a news video?
IMOO.

Do we know if they were drinking alcohol?

Unless this was the information that the police gave them that they can't discuss? If that is true, then it is easier to say no they didn't win any, than to say yes they did, but I can't say how much, etc, then it would look like yes, this is the info they can't discuss and they sort of would have discussed it. Maybe they did win, and that investigation that is parallel goes along with who may have followed them out of the casino, as the Sheriff's office said they won't release video of them leaving.
IMOO.

I find this very odd. That is a long time not to eat anything (diabetic or not). And then to be on the road for 2+ hrs and not bbqing until 4pm or later. Huh?? No break from gambling for a lunch? Were they on a hot streak at a machine and didn't want to leave it?

Probably, and saving up appetite for big dinner? Maybe had snacks in car they ate on the way there?

Here it is in this link. They never ate a thing at the casino.

Could someone have put something in their drinks? I wonder if the video showed drinks being served by a certain waitress or something? That could possibly be the secretive "parallel investigation". Maybe a waitress & a friend/boyfriend/spouse look for people/couples who they believe to be weak or a good mark.
I don't know if I've just watched way too much TV or what but I really feel like whatever happened, happened inside that casino! I really think someone followed Paul out to the car...it's just a gut feeling.
Not saying an accident isn't possible, but if they were BOTH feeling bad, at the exact same time, & recognized the other was also feeling bad, would they really just turn their phones off & just hope for the best?
I just think if they were feeling ill or just "off" for some reason turning their phones off wouldn't have even been a thought.
We went to a casino in a very small town in Oklahoma not long ago, the casino is the ONLY thing in that town & there were some very shady looking folks wondering around, I was terrified someone was going to pick-pocket me &/or my husband or try to con us, I couldn't even concentrate on playing anything more than a dang penny slot machine!

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

If they weren't feeling well, why did they stay at the casino until 2pm? They could have left earlier to go home or to go to their son's?
What gets me is turning off the phone.
If they weren't feeling well, Dianna could have called her son on her phone and told him they weren't coming. Instead, the phone is off.
Cecil's is off a little while later.
If they turned off their phones on purpose, did they not want to speak to someone?
And the charger for the phone. Either they brought it, or didn't, but why not bring it, esp. when they would have left their house by 8am to
get to the casino by 9:30, stay until 2, be at the son's at 4, eat, stay for awhile and have a several hour trip back home. That's a long time.
IMOO.

Thank you Forager for your maps. Is there a way to map the service area for the "last cell phone ping" near Deer Springs Road and Interstate 15? I found several towers and antennas in that area for different carriers. There is information on the height of the towers/antennas and the "owner" of the signal. I couldn't find any maps showing the range for the towers/antennas, or a topo map showing hills that would block the signal. Do you know which cell phone carrier this last ping was for?

I've plotted my interpretation of the area you describe on the map as the Steelman Hypothesis, and linked it to this post. Please let me know if I'm misunderstand, or if you would prefer not to have it plotted at all.

Here's the link to the map:

Valley View Casino is famous for it's seafood buffet.
In case you were wondering.

My shallow knowledge of the subject makes me scared of trying to conclude much of anything from cell phone records. I had plotted towers in the casino area that I found on map on the internet, but I have no idea which covers what terrain or how to figure that out. But T-Mobile is their carrier, so I was able to answer something!
