The child *advertiser censored* was on his home computer. The timing of this arrest has nothing to do with the approaching one year anniversary of her missing. The body found (yesterday?) is not Debbie. The chief thanked the Calif Franchise Tax board and a few other agencies that assisted with this case. At this time (a woman named I didn't catch) is not being charged and what if any role she played or not has not been determined. He said her name but I didn't catch it.

This was very hard to listen to as it kept cutting out. Nothing more earthshattering than what's been mentioned in the posted articles today.
Sounds like they were able to follow the money....

Dave Hawk, the ex-husband of missing Hanford mother, Debbie Hawk, was arrested this morning around 8:30 am, almost one year after her disappearance. Hawk has been arrested on 5 felony charges of tax evasion, grand theft, using false information to obtain a loan, embezzlement, and child *advertiser censored*.

OMG, and none of the charges are for the murder. Seems that there's much more to Dave than we ever expected. Well, hopefully he'll get convicted on these charges and get a long enough sentence to be held until there's enough evidence to get him on the murder as well.

Dave Hawk is accused of stealing more than $400,000 from his three children's trust funds, and evading taxes on the income. Police also accuse Hawk of possessing an undisclosed amount of child *advertiser censored* on his personal computer. Whether Mary Royer, Hawk's live-in girlfriend, was involved in the alleged crimes, and what her role may have been, is still under investigation, authorities said. She has not been arrested.

I'm so glad to hear that the arrogant S.O.B. is in jail. I hope he gets years and years. I wonder what they are looking for with the new search warrents. Maybe they know something that we don't about Debbie.

I just know that he did something to her and I hope and pray that they can find the evidence to prove it. I wonder why the evidence isn't back from the FBI lab yet. Good grief it's been a year or so. How backed up could the lab be?

Debbie's sister says she still suspects Dave was involved in her sister's murder. She also says the family has never talked to Dave about what happened.

??, Debbie Hawk's sister, says "what was I going to say to Dave? Did you kill my sister? The guy is a liar- I've always known he's a liar, when he was married to Debbie and after. Anything out of his mouth was a lie. We're glad there's been some action taken. These crimes he's charged with have been a long time in the works- I mean years. And this was all going on long before my sister went missing."

Debbie's family is not planning to attend his court appearance on Monday. The Hawk's daughters have been taken into protective custody. Their son is in foster care.

Debbie's parents who live in the Bay Area said they would be willing to take custody of all three children if need be.

If I was a member of Debbie's family I would attend every court date that he has. I would hope that it would make him uncomfortable for Debbie's family to be there. I would also go because Debbie can't go and she was going to tell the judge about this creep raping the trust fund of the children but he murdered her before they could get into court. I guess he thought if he killed Debbie nothing would happen concerning the trust fund....guess again ahole.

I hope he doesn't get out on bail and I hope he doesn't get his girls back if he gets out on bail. It would be nice if the girls could live with the grandparents. They need someone that will nurture them and help them with their grief. I'll bet they haven't even been into therapy. I can't imagine their creepy dad even thinking that they need a lot of love and therapy to help them cope with the loss of their mom.

Hawk is facing charges including grand theft, tax evasion and child *advertiser censored*. His bail is set at $320,000 and Hawk's family hasn't bailed him out yet.
Police say they're also investigating his on-again, off-again girlfriend Mary Royer, but she has not been arrested.

Dave Hawk makes first court appearance today

Dave Hawk is expected to be arraigned today.

Following his arrest on Friday, the ex-husband of Debbie Hawk was reportedly in a detention cell awaiting his first court appearance this morning.

During arraignment, the defendant is formally read the charges they face, and asked for a plea of guilty or not guilty. Future court dates are set and a bail amount could be revisited.

Dave Hawk Pleads Not Guilty, Will Bail Out


Dave Hawk is currently being held in the Kings County Jail on $250,000 bail. But he is expected out sometime on Monday evening. During his arraignment, his father took an oath, telling a judge he would bail out his son.

Dave Hawk walked into court on Monday, expressionless. During the brief hearing, he told the judge he understood the rules of the court and gave a "not-guilty" plea.

At approximately 7:00 pm Monday evening, Dave Hawk's parents arrived at a Kings County Jail to submit paperwork to begin bailing out Dave Hawk.

Prosecutor Larry Crouch says, "The child *advertiser censored* charge, which because of the time when the computer was seized, was only a misdemeanor. It is a felony potentially today."


Law enforcment officials believe Hawk took over $400 dollars illegally from his children's trust funds.

Crouch says, "The investigation into the disappearance of Debbie Hawk will continue to occupy a great deal of law enforcement time and effort in this community until it's resolved."


Family members say Dave Hawk's children are now on vacation with their maternal grandparents. Relatives say the past year has been very hard on the couple's three kids. It is unclear whether Hawk's daughters would be returned to him.

Why in the world bother to bail the piece of scum out of jail! I wonder if his parents had to mortgage their home or if they just have that kind of money laying around. I think it was his parents who set up the trust fund for the children so maybe they believe that Dave had every right to steal from it...I mean borrow from it :banghead:

I hope and pray that he doesn't get those girls back. I wonder what the poor little things think. Shouldn't a judge have the common sense not to put those kids in his home....the guy is into *advertiser censored*. Aren't things supposed to be done in court in the best interest of the children? I swear, I think most of the time the best interest of the children in left way behind somewhere.

LE sound like they are determined to find Debbie and I hope they mean it. I still would like to know why the FBI is backed up by a year??? It takes more then a year to get evidence tested?? Get it back and send it somewhere else.
That just seems like an awful long time to me. Maybe there is no evidence and LE doesn't want to admit it.

Charges against Dave Hawk include embezzlement, child *advertiser censored* and perjury.

Court records show Debbie Hawk accused Dave Hawk of stealing money from trust funds totaling about $250,000that had been set up for their three children.


Friends and family of Debbie Hawk said they were concerned about Dave Hawk's behavior even before she disappeared.


"Debbie obviously knew that was going on," said Eliza Carlson, a friend of Debbie Hawk. "They were scheduled to go to court, and her attorney was going to tell the judge what was happening."


On Friday, Mestas accused Hawk of "looting" the children's trust funds. But he declined to comment when asked whether such actions could form a motive for murder.


Hawk has said that as trustee of the funds he had the right to take money whenever he wanted. But Calhoun said district attorney's investigators -- who seized papers and computers at his Lemoore home last year -- believe Hawk was stealing from his children's trust funds to pay for living expenses, which is illegal.


Financial papers in the home also show that he applied for loans using fraudulent information and attempted to hide how much money he was making, authorities said.


Child *advertiser censored* also was found on Hawk's computers, but Mestas said it didn't involve Hawk's children.


Calhoun said perjury charges stem from divorce proceedings in which he allegedly lied about his income.

Search warrants were also served at the Lemoore home and business of Mary Royer, who authorities say is Dave Hawk's girlfriend.


Calhoun said Royer and Hawk shared a bank account used to dispose of assets from the trust accounts.

David Hawk is no longer in police custody, after posting bail around 7 p.m. Monday. At Monday's arraignment, he pleaded not guilty, and his bail was reduced by $70,000.

During Monday's proceedings, the courtroom was packed with reporters from two local newspapers and several television stations.

Two bailiffs escorted Dave Hawk into the courtroom, wearing a green-and-white striped jumpsuit with his hands cuffed and attached to a chain around his waist.

I will bet money on it, that we will be looking for a missing criminal who skips on his bail, named Dave Hawk, before this is over. The closer they get to finding Debbie, the more money I bet he hid, and he is gonna disappear, I just think that is what is next with this guy.

I really hope not! But I wouldn't put it past him. I wouldn't doubt that he'd try to kill the prosecuter or LE to get out of this. Murder seems to be his solution to his problems.

I'm also peeved at his parents for bailing him out. I understand he's their son and they must feel some loyalty, but they sure are risking a lot for his sorry hide.
