Thanks so much for all the updates - I set my alarm to catch the presser live but obviously worked the times out wrong!

Frankly, I wonder why Fleming just didn't hand himself in straight away. Sounds like he'd have made things a lot easier for himself, as well as authorities, if he had.

Well lol he admitted he'd been living in vegetation, specifically under a bush. And would venture out a bit to get food from some local stores.

I'm very shocked he was able to hide out like that in Elk Grove.

I'm calling BS. He had help from someone in that area and that person does not want to get in trouble so he stepped out (and it wasn't from a bush). IMO

Looking everywhere from Canada to Mexico for him and he never left town! Sounds like he even did some travel around town too. All I can say is that I hope it rained some of those nights. And I hope it was cool some nights. I hope the bugs were bad too. Do they have fire ants there?

From the way it sounds I think he knew he was going to get caught. But he just wasn't going to make it easy and turn himself in.

Sheriff: Ex-Cal Fire battalion chief admits guilt in girlfriend’s slaying

For 16 days, as law enforcement hunted former Cal Fire battalion chief Orville “Moe” Fleming from Canada to Mexico, the 55-year-old murder suspect was literally hiding under a bush not far from the scene of the crime.
In a bizarre finish to a saga that has captivated the region since Fleming allegedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend to death on May 1 and fled, Fleming was arrested Friday around midday by a detective who spotted him after he left his hiding place and set off in search of food.
It was hardly the perfect plan.
“He did the kind of fleeing equivalent of curling up in the fetal position, and we found him,” Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones said Friday night at a news conference to announce the arrest.
