At the time of the abduction, Sherri would have seen the vehicle either entering Sunrise from OOT or coming upon her from Sunrise heading toward OOT. She would have seen the vehicle, and the abductors. IF the vehicle approached from Sunrise, that would be a good indication that she was being stalked....and that the car had been in her neighborhood or on her road, Sunburst. I see that homes are far apart, but I'd expect that a number of residences DO have surveillance cams, given the remoteness of the area.
Also, I think that it is possible that the estimation of 2.5 hours could have been made in retrospect.....after realizing upon release that she was 150 mi from home and deducing that the long first drive was how long it takes to drive from Redding to Yolo area.
I also wonder why, if this was an organized abduction crew, that they hadn't bothered to invest in handcuffs, instead of rigging up the ridiculous gizmos they had to hold her in captivity. (and leg restraints, too)....JMO
Maybe they don't want to have suspicion-provoking items such as handcuffs around. If that's the case, it would make sense to use tools of their trade, as someone suggested earlier. Being pulled over with a duffle bag full of hancuffs and leg irons, etc., never looks good! But if you're a boat mechanic, hoses and clamps are just your work tools.
Where would these kinds of items be purchased? Is there a store in Redding?
SKs usually 'work' close to home, and usually stalk their victims first, but not always. If they had to travel to Redding to pick up supplies on a regular basis, they might've picked up a victim while they were there, too. In that case, the long second drive may have just been to disorient her so she wouldn't have any idea where she had been held. Or to release her far from where they lived. That wouldn't be true for the first drive, since at that time, they planned on killing her.
Was SP left alone during the day?
