I really find it distracting too. I think of it as "noise" surrounding the real problem of a missing, possibly in danger, possibly close to or already dead woman. I think maybe, and I mean maybe, intentions were good on trying to help, but again its over dramatic, too much. I fear it is only making the family come across as either naive or a little crazy themselves. It makes it harder for people to trust them and want to help if they think it this craziness has anything to do with them. I sincerely hope it works and brings her back but I really don't have much faith that it will. And, I hope it doesn't hurt SP and family's cause in the long run.

If this has already been posted, hopefully this can be deleted because I don't want to waste anyone's time. I'm on my crappy phone due to pc problems, so I don't have the facility to post sections. In this article, the LE addresses the "ransom" letter. Also noted is that the FBI has been helping with cellular technology, etc. It seems there is fresh material out this weekend, bringing with it, of course, a bevy of colorful comments.

Did it get a new update? it looks much better and the photos in the gallery are much better too. I may have missed it, see what the ransom malarkey site did? Distracted, me anyway :p
 
The 2:00 sighting was announced by LE the morning after she disappeared, so IMO, it had to have been someone whose door was knocked on or someone who came forward shortly after she went missing. It could've made the late news that night or early the next morning and someone who just happened to be in the neighborhood may have caught it. But it makes more sense to me that it was someone who lives in the immediate area. Just speculating. But what if someone was seen talking to her earlier in the day (or even the day before) and realized someone had seem them talking. When LE knocked on the door, he/she may have been trying to establish another time line that could exclude them from any involvement (had an alibi). If LE now has this person on their radar, I can see why they wouldn't want to publicly retract the sighting.

This is a great update with way more current pictures. Gives you more of an idea of what she might look like not all dolled up. Still beautiful, yes, just more like a real life person. Not fantasy land.
 
I'm a little sleep deprived today, so I'll blame that for my lack of inhibition in jumping on the speculation train...

I just thought of another angle on the partially-wrapped gift to KP, based on my own personal experience.

In the beginning of my relationship with my now husband, his ex-wife, who still had the key to their formerly-shared apartment, let herself inside while we were at work. We figured this out after coming home to find my lingerie meticulously laid out on the bed, which she subsequently admitted to doing out of jealousy.

This makes me wonder...

Could the partially-wrapped gift to KP have actually been a partially *unwrapped* gift?

Who might have keys to the Papini Family home? (I imagine that if the locks never changed - which wouldn't be unusual for a family-owned home - a number of individuals could have had keys from over the years.)

Just thoughts...
 
While I think some third party offering a reward or ransom payment comes off as weird and out of the norm, it may simply show how desperate and frustrated her family is. They are willing to try anything in order to get her back. This is a big part of the reason why I'm not so sure that LE, "knows more than we do".

In some cases, LE will literally cut off communication with the family members........no updates, no briefings, no indication of what tips have come in, and no discussion about what leads are being followed.
The family is completely in the dark. I suppose LE may cut off communication like that in order to keep the family from yapping to the news media and others about the status of the investigation. I'm sure they have their reasons, the most common being, "we don't want to impede the investigation". Of course my normal response to that is, "If the investigation is progressing so well, then why isn't she home yet?"

You don't need to have much of an imagination to realize how much resentment an information blackout might lead to on the part of the family. I think at this stage they are willing to try just about anything, and if some dude wants to offer up a reward to return her.............that's fine too.
 
Found her named listed as a donor to this organization. Don't know how that means anything or why I'm posting it. Just got excited to actually find something in my searches. It was prior to her marriage so it's her maiden name and located in Northern California in her area so I'm just assuming. Nothing too exciting or probably relevant.

I do know that non-family members have been making online fliers as a way to help get the word out. I've also seen where such ones give permission to the family to use their creation.

I dont really know who actually made the first fliers. What I was referring to was why the wedding photos kept making the circulation more in the beginning. They were one of the first photos to be run over and over through news articles and broadcasts. I just wondered if that was media play, show the loving husband and wife thing. That way, media wins either way. Loving husband is actual loving husband or not. Whatever was to pan out, they could use it.

Because todays media is meant to draw viewers/readers to make dollars, not provide actual news

Papini’s sister, Sheila Koester, said she had no knowledge about the letter and that the Papini family members had no association with the website.

“I have no idea. It’s nothing that I knew of,” she said.

Koester said she had a friend help her design a different website, www.HelpFindSherriPapini.com, to give the public information about her sister’s disappearance — what she may have been wearing the day she went missing, a Google map of the area she went missing from, and numbers to call if they have any information about Papini’s whereabouts.

Unlike the website Gamble is working with, Koester emphasized that anyone with information about her sister’s disappearance continue to call the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

The pic if the running outfit isn't of Sherri. It's just to show what the outfit looks like, and it's modeled by someone else. That's why the head is cut off in the pic.

The pic of the running outfit doesn't show Sherri wearing it. Its purpose is just to show what the outfit looks like, and it's modeled by someone else. That's why the head is cut off in the pic.

One theory I had in the early going was that a perp could have been hiding in that shack that's by the mailboxes, waiting for Sherri.
I dismissed that theory because in the google maps based view, the shack is falling apart in a way that she would have been able to see in.
However, that view is a couple years old, and I just noticed in a video that it looks like the shack was repaired. Or maybe not... a vehicle
could have been parked in front of it just like this... So either way, he could have been waiting in the shack.
(ie bus stop, or whatever it is.)
