WOW! LE is on top of this! they were on her facebook!
Deputy DeSantiago was messaging anyone who messages her!
Asking if they knew where she was.
I have a screen shot from 3/16 @ 8:10 pm
but I can't post it here, he's a minor
so it's a rumor.

WTG! LE!!!

Interesting!!! I think they know who is involved..... Otherwise they would keep their FB hacking secret. I think they want the person/s involved to know they have read every private message that is in her FB account....

If a parent gets to their driveway and at the edge of the street are their child's bag and phone they are going to immediately know something is very wrong. They're likely to see it laying there and freak. If they are tossed into the bushes somewhere out of sight, well, they're just that out of sight. Parent gets home, thinks child may be at a friends, etc and not worry about it right away. The school didn't call per the interview, so it took even more time before they become aware, all adding to more time on the clock.
Then there is the issue of neighbors, the postman, the UPS driver, etc all having opportunity to see it laying there and call it in. It's much riskier.

Thank You for your response - it makes sense.

However - if this is a stranger abduction, a kidnapper wouldn't know what time the parents would arrive home, nor do I believe they would care, as long as they got away with their victim.

If a runaway situation, Sierra would know what time her mother & her mother's BF would arrive home - but I don't believe this is a runaway scenario.

Neighbors, postman, UPS driver, etc. - I don't believe any of them would neccesarily have given a second glance at any items that may have been left on the ground @ the end of the driveway. The average person tends to not notice anything - especially the average person who is on a tight delivery timeline or in a rush to get where they're going. Even if someone notices something, they tend to explain it away initially, until there is an explanation provided by someone else. The average person lives in oblivion and expects reality to be explained to them by someone in "authority".

If a parent arrives home & finds a purse @ the end of the driveway - that's another matter entirely. I believe a parent would immediately know that something was amiss & would immediately be alarmed.

Nevertheless, does this still negate the idea of the location of the handbag being staged? I don't think so.

Is her FB open?

apparently it WAS on 3/16. A friend of hers heard she was "missing" didn't believe it, saw her on facebook and she was "online" so he msg her and IT WAS LE that responded to him!!!

This was 2 hrs after she was reported missing!

That is almost too quick.
How was it determined she HADN'T just skipped school and not answering her phone cause she knew she'd be in trouble?

Would family have called around to friends first?

I don't know but it's a screen shot from a phone or computer.
My guess is that is EXACTLY why the deputy was on her facebook. He was looking for her. Questioning everyone that messaged her that night?

Honestly teens don't stay on the phone talking much anymore. At least mine don't. It's all done through social media sites. AND LE can get an idea of who her friends are FAST! People the parents would not even know...

Uh-huh!!

But, what if she came rolling in an hour later from who knows?
And the cops are all on her fb friends?

This makes me think.

Thanks.
There must have been something other than she just wasn't at school that day that made LE go full bore right off.
After all, they wouldn't find the phone until another 24 hours.
And almost 36 for the bag.

I'm still catching up with this case. Is there a link to this info? TIA

OK I adjusted the time for the East Coast... so MAYBE it was really 11:10 pm on 3/16 ( Pacific coast time )

IIRC, Sierra was the last person to leave the household after her mom & her mom's BF left earlier that morning.

Since everyone else left before she did, how is it that "dropping the stuff right at the driveway" would indicate it would be known sooner that she was missing and not of her own accord?

Because the kidnapper would not know when or if a family member is going to come home in the next hours or so, and if someone came home for lunch, and they saw her book bag and belongings strewn across the driveway, there would be a massive search much sooner. imo

Also, if a neighbor happened by, and saw her drop her bag and get driven off, they would likely call 911. But if not, they might not even notice it at all.

This is going off the assumption that this was a random kidnapping. If it was someone that she had been talking to online or via text, he might know exactly what the patterns were of the family.

If Sierra was targeted by a predator who had stalked her, or by someone who knew her (consensus seems to agree with the possibility of both scenarios), then this person would have scoped out not only Sierra's schedule, but her mother's & her mother's BF's schedule, as well, in order to carry out a successful abduction without getting caught in the act, IMO.

And what if somebody walking along the side of the road stumbled over her bag Friday afternoon and said "hot diggity" I gots me a Juicy Couture bag!!
No one would ever be the wiser.
They think it got dropped off early on Friday, but who knows, really?
We can speculate what ifs in all directions.

True, but one never really knows for sure whether some one is going to come home randomly, and I don't think they would want to take that chance. Also, it would make it obvious that she didn't run away. And i think no matter who it was that took her, they want people to think it is possible she left on her own.

But just because some one knows the general schedule of the family it does not mean they are sure who comes home when, imo. Someone might take a long lunch break or come home early for some reason. Why chance that?

Can you blot out the name and face gngr~snap? Is that allowed?

They keep going back to her friends.

Unless it was dang near on the white line or sitting in one of the fields that has been plowed nobody was likely to see it just walking by. Again, the grass is crazy green, thick and tall right now. Didn't look that tall til I got out of the car and stepped into it....

Sieraa supposedly disappeared around the time that she left to catch the bus - shortly after 7:15 a.m. I don't think anyone would be coming home for lunch that early.

I've been more looking at getting rid of the phone and bag as a way to control her and make her feel helpless. Take away her means of communication, her property, etc. Haven't been that focused on them making it look like a runaway long term. At this point though, if that's what they wanted, it's working, there are still people who think she ran away, so that works too.

Predators take chances all the time. Pretty much everytime really. They play the odds... The odds were good here. Quiet street, tucked back, parents gone early, nobody expecting her at the bus stop (friends, etc), new school with likely no tight ties who would worry about her...

I thought it an early presser, LE gave the impression it wasn't THAT far off the road. And not so well hid that SOMEBODY didn't find it.

Pink stands out. It is not a color found in nature. And it was a stuffed bag making it plump enough and heavy enough to flatten the grass around it. With lots of shiny bling on it.
