Thanks for bringing this thread back to life... I miss both Pirate and Shaymus..They were excellent sleuthers..
I truly feel Pirate was "right on" when she stated TN knew Haleigh had been placed in that dumpster for some period of time before she was moved to another destination...And that is WHY she requested LE to search that dumpster...JMO
Which begs the question....what purpose would it serve to have the dumpster searched if Haleigh wasn't to be found there?
wow....is this a rumor? Please, if you could back up with a link. I never heard Teresa was the one that asked Law Enforcement to search the dumpster. I could have sworn it was because of a cadaver dog hit. TIA
My memory is cloudy on this Toms Girl but for some reason I remember Teresa Neves claiming that she felt that the dumpster needed to be searched and asked the dog handlers to check it.
I may be incorrect- it's been a few months and I'm on cold medicine today.:innocent:
And why would Teresa want it searched? I'm not understanding . If Teresa had knowledge that Haleigh had once been there I would think she wouldn't point that out to LE.

SATSUMA --Putnam County Sheriff's Office and the cadaver search dogs continue searching the area near the home of Haleigh Cummings.
The sheriff's office searched a Dumpster approximately a quarter-mile from where Haleigh disappeared on Feb. 10.
Three cadaver search dogs alerted on the Dumpster around 3 p.m.
Investigators found brush and debris inside. All were remnants of a home being renovated. The sheriff's office said they did not take anything from the Dumpster.
Bloodhounds had searched the area several times in the past. The dogs' handler described the incident as an anomaly.

Investigators Say Trash Bin Search Yielded No Clues
UPDATED: 8:06 am EST February 27, 2009
Officials said because the dogs can hit on almost any kind of blood, it doesn't have to mean it's from Haleigh.
Earlier on Thursday, Misty Croslin, the 17-year-old girlfriend of Haleigh's father, was spotted speaking with a detective. She had walked across the street with fresh clothes.
Croslin will eventually be interviewed again by Putnam County investigators. Haleigh's grandmother, Teresa Neves, said all the questioning has taken its toll on Croslin.
"It's hard when you've got all that scrutiny on Misty because she was the last person to see the child," Neves said.
Putnam County officials have brought in a new trash bin. They're taking trash bags and bringing them there to empty and use a pitchfork to go through the garbage in hopes of finding any clues that may lead them to Haleigh.

Investigators said the search was not in response to leads received from the family or the public, but as a routine procedure that has proven itself in other missing child cases.
The canine teams are a part of Canine South, a non-law enforcement organization that specializes in canine searches. The teams consist of cadaver dogs that specifically seek out human remains.

Searching for Haleigh: K-9s fail to find missing girl
Update: February 28, 2009
SATSUMA, Florida - Cadaver dogs found no trace of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings on Friday, and her family members continued to plead for the little girl's safe return.
Thursday evening, three dogs brought attention to a dumpster near the Satsuma home from which Haleigh disappeared early this month, but after a thorough search, investigators said it contained no human remains.
Teresa Neves, said her family had expected the search to turn up nothing because they think Haleigh is alive but that it was a relief nonetheless to know that investigators found nothing in the dumpster.

Cadaver Dogs Return to Haleigh's Neighborhood
Posted By: Gary Detman Updated: 2/26/2009
SATSUMA, FL -- Cadaver dogs and their handlers are back in the woods and fields around the home of Haleigh Cummings, looking for any signs of the little girl.
The five-year-old has been missing since she went to bed on the night of February 9th.
The cadaver dogs are searching the panels under homes in the neighborhood. The dogs are trained to specifically seek out human remains and are part of Canine South, a non-law enforcement group specializing in canine searches.
"Today's search is not in response to leads received from the family or the public, but as a routine procedure that has proven itself in other missing child cases," said Captain Dick Schauland.
Thursday's ground search is the first major organized effort in some time.
Investigators have been chasing false leads across the First Coast and in Tennessee since shifting the search for Haleigh to more of an investigative approach in the case last week.

...Regardless, the search was a big joke in my opinion and a gaffe of unknown proportions. All those LE stomping around in there, throwing the bags out onto the grass, not very professional in my opinion. Of course nothing could link Haleigh to the dumpster...how could it?
I am very interested in all the dog searches. I think the first dogs who arrived and tracked Haleigh needs to be explored. What happened at the tracks to stop the dogs? I have read the dogs tracked to the pond, through the woods to the clearing and to the docks but stopped at the tracks on Buffalo Bluff. Can they track a vehicle with scent and then it disappaites? I heard with Lacy Peterson, the dogs tracked a long while.
Also is the scent the first arrival dogs a live scent?
If you guys want to ask some questions about dogs of our new member who is a professional in using dogs with search and rescue, go ahead and ask some and I'll invite her here to answer them for you.
