Does anyone know if there is any water on or near their property? An old well? Septic system?

The only water mentioned so far is a nearby creek.

"I don't know where he is. There's still lots of people out now and there are planes too. There's a lot of bush around there and a creek. There is running water and ice there," he added.

"But we've looked along the creeks and so far we haven't found anything. No clothing or anything."

Wall said the creek, about a half a kilometre away from the boy's home, was one of the first places searchers checked because there is a trail to it direct from the residence.

"His dad chops wood there so he has been there before."

There are bound to be septic tanks and wells in the area, given how rural it is. Hopefully they'll be checked.

Ugh, this is like Noah Thomas, Myra Lewis and Noah Chamberlin all rolled into one. If the 15 minute time frame is correct then it's worrisome that Chase was out of line of sight that quickly.

Mom recounts how two-year-old son disappeared

It sounds like it is common for him to be playing outside by himself.

"He’s outside all the time, and I will call him once and he’ll go, ‘What!’" Turner said, adding her son never strayed past a wood pile in their yard.

How are y'all able to read the Winnipeg Free Press articles? I keep getting a log-in notice. :(

Argh. Got the notice on first click. They offer a free 30-day account but I don't like the terms. As long as some of you can read the articles and comment here it's all good. :)

I haven't yet figured out how to post pics from tweets, but there are some amazing photos of so many people searching for Chase. The terrain looks easy to hide in in some places, but some of the photos show lines of so many people walking through fields and swamps only maybe and arms length away from each other. Amazing turnout from the community, LE, SAR, etc.

Still no sign of 2 year old Chase Martens. Lots of searchers still out combing the area north of Austin. #cbcmb

LE said about 300 people have been out searching but locals were reporting that it was closer to 600.

In the picture of the house, it showed a tarp covering a lot of split wood on a trailer. Surely, they have checked under the tarp and among the wood which may have shifted and covered him.

Where are you Chase?!?!

If they are appealing to the public, should an Amber alert not go out?

Iirc, Chase and his Dad went to the store prior to his disappearance.
Wondering now, how far the store was from their home and if there was something at that store Chase wanted, but was refused and in his little boy mind, set out to get on his own?

The boy had been in the yard with his dad, who was loading a truck. Father and son then went for a ride to a store and returned.

Does anyone know if dogs were used? Also when I enlarge the pic of the house,I can't tell what is behind the green garbage can.......is it an opening to access under a deck?

400 volunteers, planes searching for missing Chase Martens, 2

Chinta Puxley, THE CANADIAN PRESS
Wilfred and Bernice Catcheway have been searching for their own daughter, Jennifer, at a nearby reserve since the 18-year-old vanished in 2008. When they heard another family was going through the same pain, they joined the search and were going up and down the banks of the creek close to the Martens home.

"It's heart-wrenching. Pulling up here, I just broke down and cried because that's just a baby," she said. "It's a little baby out there that needs to be found.

"There is always hope. You have to have that hope."

Don Poschenrieder heard the news from his neighbours on social media, grabbed a walking stick and headed out. After hours of searching, his optimism was fading. His hopes rested on the planes circling overhead.

"Makes you wonder, how far he could have got," he said.

Just ... Yikes. Close to icy, running water and a highway and bush/woods.
Perfect storm. Hoping he's close to home, curled up in a little nest somewhere sleeping the time away.
I wonder what the family dogs are doing. I'd be tempted to let them loose to see what they do - if 300-600 people weren't in the area.

Found it ever so slightly odd, that when the Mom looked outside and Chase was not seen, that the cats and dog were just lying down.imo

Usually, the family pets follow Chase, but their cats and their dog, Bingo — always with the boy — was lying on the ground outside the house.

you both are mine too. I'm recalling a fairly recent case, which happened in my old community, in which the little boy was found under a pile of rocks/boulders, which had collapsed. His name was Fynn Bywater. Very heartbreaking. I'm more worried about the water in this case, and those tall reeds/swampy area, but... I just pray they find him. Please no more disappearances without a trace.

Shows aerial view or the search area.
