Our officers are working diligently to find these suspects and we will release updates as soon as we have concrete, confirmed information to share. We understand many people are experiencing fear & uncertainty over this incident but spreading online rumours doesn’t help. #rcmpmb

RBBM - people need to remember this.

Hypothermia, which happens when body temperature drops below 95°, is a real risk.
What are night temperatures running in that area?
If they've practiced survival in their backyard woods, they may have learned how to stay warm
outside in the bush.
They may be hiding near a source of drinkable water, so that may not be a problem.

How long can they survive without food?
Probably a couple weeks and have they studied
how to find food in the bush?
Maybe this was planned as their final test of
survivability and has become part of their last
childish plan.

i explained this to the thread yesterday, hypothermia can occur in summer even with as small as a temp drop as 5c, all you'd need is a slight breeze, sweat or rain from a thunderstorm even the thunderstorm could be along a front causing outflow winds and you are screwed if you can't find warmth

Link to some details about the Port at Churchill. Other than Churchill, they are SooL in Hudson Bay. If escape & evasion via ship was in their plan, they planned poorly.

Port of Churchill - Wikipedia

I'm new to the board, but, like the rest of you, I've been following these events. What if the suspects actually had intended to travel to Northern Manitoba, and specifically to the Port of Churchill? One of the suspects was said to identify as Russian, with an interest in Russian rappers, among other things. The Port of Churchill does accommodate freighters from Russia, specifically from the Russian port of Murmansk. They call this route, from Murmansk to Churchill, the Arctic Bridge (see Arctic Bridge, Wikipedia). Yes, I know it's an outlandish theory. A Russia-bound ship might not be in the vicinity, it would be difficult to gain access to the ship even if it were at port, and the port itself is lightly trafficked (to say the least), making suspicious activity easy to detect. Then again, these are teenagers, and they might not have anticipated all the obstacles that could scupper their plans.

From today's CBC Front Burner podcast
Fear, isolation and a cross-Canada manhunt

"It started as a series of upsetting but seemingly disconnected events. A burned-out car. A couple found dead. Two friends gone missing. Then, eventually, a bigger picture emerged.
And now, a Canada-wide manhunt is underway for two B.C. murder suspects. Today we pull together all the threads of this story with the CBC's Jason Proctor. He's been covering this story from Vancouver and rural B.C."

This is well worth a listen.

"When asked why the suspects have yet to be found, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the search for them is still in its early stages.

Goodale added that the public needs to listen very carefully to police instructions and try not to intervene but rather contact police or local jurisdictions. Goodale says Canadians can have confidence every tool and technique is being applied to find the suspects.

“You can see from the reallocation of RCMP personnel, for example, the application of technology in the use of drones as another example…the police services are dealing with a dangerous situation.”

I thought for sure they would be picked up yesterday. But, here we go, a new day. Did the predicted storm happen?

Not sure about a storm, but I saw this

A misty day. We’re past Gillam,MB. Checkpoint operating.Heading to possible search location as the hunt for 2 wanted men continues. Thurs RCMP reported it is still focused on this region & confirmed sightings from earlier in the week.

And if the photo isn't high enough quality to tell, why is everyone saying there is glass blasted out?

Maybe the window was shot from the inside....just baffled about the reports there is glass outside the van.

jmo

The road worker who secured the scene prior to arrival of RCMP said that the window was broken from the inside, and that there was glass on the ground outside the van.
