IIRC, it was determined early on that the company that Lucas worked for had purchased the van when their business was located in Alberta before it moved to BC.

Someone else will correct me if my recollection is wrong.
I had speculated that based on reports that he had purchased the van from the ranch, but seeing this for sale in 2018 would be after the ranch moved from Alberta in 2015.

My apologies, as this is what you said. “The wearing of camo is significant that this person has really jumped on this crime ridden bandwagon”. Still it seems to me that you are saying the wearing of camo shows proclivity to a life of crime.

I understand what you're saying but I will say that when a young person suddenly starts wearing full camo, (not just a shirt or not just pants) is also heavily into violent video games, is a loner with behavioral/educational issues and some family dysfunction, the choice of outfit may be indicative of a certain mindset.

It's not the same as military personnel near a base or people who put their dogs in cute camo gear or like cute camo shirts or dresses or whatever.

I think it's more than a simple fashion choice when that kid is suddenly dressing that way as he embarks on a road trip from hell.

I used to wear my brother's army pants (camo) paired with army boots a lot. Black t-shirt or white sleeveless undershirt type top.

But putting on the entire military outfit as if you're actually in the armed services but are not, is a statement to me, unless you're five.

Even hunters tend to wear camo differently than that.

What statement that is, however, I'm not totally sure.

The DM reporter probably wrote his misunderstood story based on the Globe’s earlier article. A band constable is a common term only if one is familiar with terminology associated with First Nation reserves. Because reserves are considered private land, check stops are not unusual.

“They were in a gray Toyota SUV and drove past the check stop on the gravel road leading to the small community. The community is dry and stops all vehicles, looking out for alcohol or drugs.

When the Toyota didn’t stop, two band constables followed the pair and pulled them over, Ms. Saunders said. The constables searched the vehicle.

"They told the constables that they needed to gas up," she said.

It was around 2 or 3 pm. At that point, they weren't yet named by police as suspects in the killings of three people...”
RCMP broaden search for suspects wanted in B.C. killings to York Landing, Man.
Better known as band police by locals. On some reserves there are actual RCMP stations, which some members are Native.

Yes. The ranch owners moved to BC several years ago. The van was auctioned in June 2018 and Lucas bought it from someone at the ranch sometime between Feb 2019 and July 2019.

It may not be lying as the Clan are not from that reserve...it may have been fair skinned guys from the reserve. I look Caucasian but I am not. Why they ran I don’t know..maybe intimated...who knows.
Absolutely, not lying.

Eyewitness reports are inherently unreliable because people don't have photographic memories. Especially if they only catch a glimpse and aren't sure what they saw, that memory may get mixed up with pictures of what they're looking for. This is even more likely when you're in an unfamiliar location.

We don't know that they torched their vehicle. They may well have murdered someone, with or without others being involved. Or maybe they accidently killed someone and are running because they are scared. aybe they will be found NCR as has been discussed. I have no idea. But let's agree that folks should not be posting that they should just be shot, or fed to the bears!

Accidentally killing someone? Running because they are scared? Yes, they look positively terrified in that store surveillance video.

Others being involved. Like these guys had any friends. Maybe the escaped convict from the US forced them at gunpoint to shoot Lucas and Chynna. Then he took off and left them with the bag.

Shot? No. Bears getting them? Meh. Sinking into the swamp a la Conky in Trailer Park Boys? Okay.

Yes but I don’t think there was an RCMP station at Split Lake. And it would’ve been the band’s policy that the community was dry and why their own constables would be on the lookout for vehicles not stopping at the checkpoint, bringing in alcohol.

This is not fact. Links please

NBC News. “The RCMP are now considering Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky as suspects in the Dease Lake suspicious death and the double homicide of Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese.”
Two Teens Are Suspects in the Murder of Couple Who Were on a Canadian Road Trip

noun
/ˈsəsˌpekt/
  1. 1.
a person thought to be guilty of a crime or offense.
"the police have arrested a suspect"
    synonyms: suspected person, accused, defendant
    "a murder suspect"

The Daily Mail article about two RCMP officers letting McLeod and Schmegelsky through their fingers is hilarious.

The article names the “officers” as Albert Saunders and Morgan Spence. Not much on Spence, but Mr. Saunders is on Facebook and is a York Factory local who gives polar bear tours.

The reason that none of the major Canadian news outlets are running with this story about the RCMP botching it is that the idea that these two are RCMP officers is ridiculous. Sounds like they may have some kind of Band Council role relating to enforcement of Band bylaws on things like alcohol. If they were RCMP, they certainly wouldn’t be giving an interview to a Daily Mail freelance journalist.

This is classic Daily Mail. I do give points to writer Josh Boswell. In his 20s, he’s a graduate of the University of York. He did freelance work for the Sunday Times and has since moved to LA. He and an LA photographer friend, Tony Canham, have jumped on this story, and they hired a private boat to get themselves from Split Lake to York Landing rather than wait for the ferry. If their photos are good, it’s because Canham is an actual professional photographer.

This whole story is right up the Daily Mail’s alley :)

I am not saying there is RCMP station there as I know there isn’t. Just educating a bit. And not refuting a stop...but it is highly unusual.:)

OK. I’m confused. Admittedly I've been in and out today, checking sporadically. Did I miss somebody announcing that the sighting at the landfill last night was false? Or is all that talk just us all here on WS thinking that it must have been false since they haven't caught them yet.
