The remark about the 4 dozen lingerie break-ins, does anyone know is this referencing him just breaking in and robbing women or are they saying the attacks against the two still alive victims also happpened to 4 dozen women?

Last Thursday, police set up the equivalent of a RIDE-program spot check, hoping to match the distinctive tire tracks to a vehicle. Col. Williams was pulled over, and his tires matched with the sample from the crime scene. The discovery prompted police to obtain search warrants to investigate Col. Williams’ two homes in Ottawa and Tweed.

2 more possibilities, timeline might fit...do we have a Russell Williams thread? That may be needed...not sure if I should be posting this here..:waitasec:. I wonder if his was more a home invasion, underwear fetish that went awry...not too sure if this is his MO. Police are sure pulling out all their old files, a good thing.

The MOs in those cases were similar to what we know about the September attacks in Tweed. The Tweed-area attacks will probably be mysteriously missing on weekends, except if someone didn't go away/have company.

Moving forward a few years from 1983, I would hope the police will investigate any of the unsolved cases previously attributed to the Scarborough rapist. DNA technology has come a long way in the interim. Paul Bernardo may not have been the only one out there.

It would be prudent to investigate any unsolved missing persons cases/murders involving similar circumstances to Jessica's, too. You know, keys and wallet left on the table, a responsible person missing, male or female.

Why on earth did Blatchford expressly mention Tori Stafford in her article?

I believe that someone, somewhere did have a clue about what was going on. What about military intelligence?

I am still thinking of that female military intelligence officer found dead of "suicide" at Camp Mirage. And the mysterious death of the young student at RMC in Kingston.

This article stands out as a clue to how the military handles unexplained non-combat deaths:

"The key officer in the room was Detective-Sergeant Jim Smith, who last year had obtained a statement in the abduction and murder of eight-year-old Tori Stafford of Woodstock, Ont., last summer."

I believe she was just pointing out he has experience in interrogating a potential murder suspect & got results. I don't believe it was any more than that.

Colonel Russell Williams has given police a lengthy and wide-ranging statement about four dozen so-called "lingerie break-ins," two home invasions that turned into bizarre sexual assaults last September, and the murders of two young women, one a military steward with whom he may have flown.

You see, I do. I've been following Blatchford for many years.

I'm with you on that...that camp Mirage death certainly needs to be looked at...

The Sept attacks in Tweed? I'm unsure of which ones you refer to...I was just drawn into this case days ago, I'm short on case history. Do you mean the 2 sexual assaults? I thought they were home invasions? Weren't the 2 TO attacks outside, on a pathway? And were they stabbings?

The pathway attack fits the Kelly Morriseau death in Ottawa in 2006. He was here then. And it, too, was a stabbing.

Maybe he would be jogging and get the "urge"?

This is the context:

I personally don't believe that there is a connection between the two cases implied or should be inferred. Blatchford covered both crimes and Smith is now also involved in both. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. :)

Dear Posters:

Apparently I need to remind everyone of some aspects of the WS TOS.

First, if you see a problematic post, click on the alert button (red triangle in the upper right corner of every post) to report it. That is the only way to deal with a problematic post. When posters take matters into their own hands and try to deal with a problematic post, it gets nasty. So please don't go there.

Second, you must include a link to back up the facts you post.

Third, if you don't have a link but know facts first-hand because you are a family member, friend, LE, etc, you must contact WS's owner, Tricia Griffith, at tgrif@xmission.com before you post so she can verify your identity. This is to protect this thread and forum from having imposters come on and post "facts" about the case.

Fourth, departure posts (e.g. "I'm never going to post again," "I'm quitting WS," etc.) are grounds for immediate dismissal from WS. Smoke pours out of the mods' keyboards when we see that. I'm you are going to leave, just leave. No need for the drama.

Thank you for all of your care for Jessica. She's the reason we are here. Let's focus on bringing her killer to justice.

All the best,

Hoppy

The home invasion charges are part and parcel of the two sexual assauts. They are one and the same. They both took place on the same road where RW lived and the women were not stabbed. He has been charged with these two cases along with the two separate murders.

Col. Williams was formally charged with two murders - Ms. Lloyd's and the Nov. 25 slaying of Corporal Marie-France Comeau - and the two unusual sexual assaults in nearby Tweed, Ont., last fall.

Much more about these charges online and within this thread.

Thanks, understood. I have heard about those two charges. I see two types of crimes here. One, he goes into the home, underwear, photos, rape...sometimes ending in murder. And two...pathway attacks. To me, that's a different MO...but maybe he did both types...out jogging on a pathway and....go into a home or find a victim on the path...good thing there's DNA. ETA...I'd like to say, I do recall reading some attacks on pathways were in the a.m., around early am jogging time...but I don't have a link ;) Just joking, mods...;)

Hey, Everyone--

I'm going to merge this thread with the one in the missing/located discussion forum.

It makes no sense to have two threads going.

There is a report Colonel Russell Williams has given police a statement about four dozen so-called lingerie breakins, two home invasions and assaults in Tweed, and the murders of Jessica Lloyd and Marie France Comeau.
The Globe and Mail says several sources claim the former Base Commander of C-F-B Trenton took detectives to Lloyd’s body on Cary Road in Tweed, and he photographed the murders and sexual assaults.

Thanks, Hoppy. Can we please have a separate thread for the accused - Russell Williams? Several posters have asked. (I'm not sure how to do this.) TIA

Thanks for asking, antiquegirl. :) Williams has quite the history to delve through...

Chief of Defence to comment on charges

This article also mentions that he is is civilian custody, not military custody. My thoughts are if he did confess, he's likely going to plead guilty, so that's likely the main reason there is no lawyer representing him at this point, as there will be no trial and it will go directly to sentencing.

I think predators are primarily opportunistic. That's why I dislike labels like the "lingerie rapist". The investigators will need to keep their minds wide open. We know that the accused like golf, fishing, photography and running.

The two 1983 murders in TO, mentioned previously, involved stabbings, to answer a previous question. We also know from this article that a knife was used in the attack on one of the Tweed victims:
