ENDANGERED: 11-year-old Colorado boy has been missing for more than 1 week; authorities search for evidence in pond

At 6:28 in this interview he asks about the hike, at 6:30 she asks to bring her daughter to verify she saw Gannon. (he wants to know about the hike not verifying if the daughter saw Gannon) at 6:51 TS tells her daughter "they" want you to verify that Gannon was home. Not once did he ask for verification that Gannon was home! He wanted to know about the hike! She didn't do an interview, she even refused to answer the questions he asked not by saying no to them but by suggesting to talk about what she wanted the public to know. What a manipulator!
She knows how to manipulate. I would imagine she worked her charming personality on Gannon father pretended to be the loving wife. Behind the fathers back a totally different person. Kids have a special insight and will know if someone loves them or not.
I believe Gannon’s father guilt is eating him up right now. He has to thinking how did he miss the clues, she wasn’t who she pretended to be. He seems to be a nice person. But a parents job is to protect your children from not so nice people.
I understand stepmom’s I had one. She also tried to manipulate my father. To the point of accusing my daughter at the time 12 years old of breaking my dads heart. I still have the typed written letter.
But I also know some step- moms that are loving and kind hearted. They would lay down their live to protect the child.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office asking for help finding missing 11-year-old boy
GS of Colorado Springs left home on foot around 3:15 p.m. to go play at a friend's house, his parents say, but never came home. GS was wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes when he went missing. He has brown hair with brown eyes and weighs 90 pounds.
- 6:55 p.m., El Paso County Sheriff's Office dispatch receives call of runaway child, 6600 Block Mandan Drive.

Re: TS making the first 911 call:

During the press conference on Tuesday [February 4th] , Sergeant Deborah Mynatt, answering a question from a reporter, “Are you still saying that [Gannon] went missing between 3 and 4 o’clock [on Monday, January 27th],” stated, “That was the only information related to us, and therefore, the first day that the reporting party called in, that was indicated to us. That was the bit of information we had to work with, there were some other factors and information obtained during that call. We type-coded him as a runaway because of information we received.”

Immediately following this exchange (it starts at around 12:40), another reporter asks, “And that was reported by the stepmother, correct?,” to which Sergeant Mynatt answers, “Yes.
- 7:32 p.m., GS entered into state and national databases as active runaway
- Last seen between 3 and 4 p.m. on the 27th
- Nothing found on initial search

Mynatt said GS did not attend school Monday, but offered no explanation.

Police arrived and looked in backyard with flashlights - A little after 10 p.m. on Tuesdaythe El Paso County Sheriff's Office showed up at Gannon's home. Law enforcement walked up to the home and appeared to be searching in the backyard with flashlights. The garage door was opened and a car was pulled out. We are waiting for an update from the sheriff's office on why law enforcement was there.

Dad (AS) finds out he is missing. "We kind of do the street light rule - when the street lights come on or it gets dark, they better be home and it was like maybe 30 minutes past that...started to worry at that point. Then I started texting all
the friends that we know he goes to and nobody had seen him," AS said.
He said GS didn't let them know what friend's house he was going to in the neighborhood and that this was "unlike him so that's why we're obviously really concerned."
Eventually, the police were called.
"Once we went through that whole checklist it's like, you know, where could he be?" AS said.

Also on Thursday, a Sheriff's Office patrol car with two deputies was parked for an extended period of time across the street from the Stauch family home, and two other men appearing to be law enforcement officers sat in an unmarked car down the street.
However, the officers left the scene after two men and a woman got into a pickup truck parked in the driveway, and drove away.
Many people on social media are wondering why more information about Gannon isn't available. As KRDO NewsChannel 13 reported Wednesday, it is the policy of the Sheriff's Office to investigate reports of missing children aged 10 and older as runaways, until evidence is found to prove an abduction or kidnapping has taken place.

Note- GS was not seen at *advertiser censored* & Go convenience:
At one point, deputies thought GS had stopped by the *advertiser censored* & Go convenience store on Mesa Ridge Parkway Monday night, but after the mother reviewed the surveillance, she confirmed it was not her son.
The sheriff's office says they have information that leads them to believe GS ran away. They did not elaborate further. 11 News asked EPSO Wednesday if GS is still considered a runaway and was told he is. Law enforcement and family are concerned about GS's wellbeing and are anxious to find him. GS's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is also assisting with search efforts.

"She doesn't have very much, just what she's been told, that no one has seen GS since Monday," Birkenstock said.
She characterized GS as "a very loving child. Disappearing is totally out of his character; he always has to be with somebody. He's very quiet, very smart."
GS's mother, who lives in South Carolina, and father, who was away for military training at the time of his disappearance, share custody, she said.
Information received during an interview with GS's stepmother and other information lead deputies to believe he's a runaway instead of a missing person, Mynatt said Tuesday, adding that foul play is not suspected.

A small group of volunteers searched an open area dotted with homeless camps near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Wooten Road in east Colorado Springs, around 10 miles from the main search area. No specific reason was given for that search.

The school district told the Colorado Springs Gazette Gannon was absent on Monday. They said counselors would be available at the school.
Police also addressed a rumor that GS’S stepmother, LS, was not fully cooperative with law enforcement. “At this point in time we are conducting multiple interviews and what I can tell you is that each lead we have had is exhausted,” Mihalko said..
He said they are looking at persons of interest, but only meaning that they are people that could give them additional information about GS.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-oldColorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.
The search for GS remains an active investigation and the Sheriff's Office said deputies are following up on all potential leads that might help them to find the boy, including continued witness interviews and evidence collection.
Deputies said they have received multiple tips since GS was reported missing. Deputies also said while they are monitoring social media, they are not using it for tips.
At Thursday’s press conference deputies said repeatedly that the main focus of the investigation at this time is to find GS. They also said that while they have been in contact with local trash companies and landfills, there are no searches taking place at those locations at this time.

LS/TS explained that on Sunday, she took GS and his younger sister hiking at the Garden of the Gods Park. Afterward, they stopped by to eat at Burger King, she said. GS reportedly did not attend school the following day.
...
Reportedly, LS/TS did not know which friend’s house the boy went to on Monday, according to AS, who said his wife told him that GS didn’t specify which friend he wanted to visit, NBC 5 reports. The stepmother said she couldn’t comment on the details of the case at this time.
...
“My husband’s ex-wife is living in our home,” the woman complained. “I took care of GS for the last two years in our home because his mother didn’t want to do it…OK, and I would never, ever hurt this child.”
...
“I was denied, I was told I couldn’t get nothing to drink, I couldn’t go to the bathroom. I mean it was continually that my constitutional rights were violated,” she explained.

As of Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office had received more than 70 tips in the case.
On Thursday, 11 News learned The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) deployed a consultant from their Team Adam program to help. Team Adam is a free resource provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to law enforcement. Named after Adam Walsh, the abducted and murdered son of NCMEC co-founders John and Revé Walsh, Team Adam provides rapid, on-site assistance to law enforcement (LE) agencies and families in critical cases of missing children.
The National Guard has also dispatched some of its troops to help. GS's father is a member of the Colorado National Guard.
Civilian-led search parties have combed the area in and around the Lorson Ranch neighborhood, where Gannon's home is located.
"So far, we've had random people going out anywhere they can," said Sara Robertson, one of the volunteers searching for GS Wednesday. "We decided to have more of an organized community around here, so we're all meeting here and heading out in different directions. We have about 40 per group. We have it gridded out checking every neighborhood all the surrounding grassy areas and fields ... looking in holes, in culverts, in ditches, anything we can do."

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gets new evidence in search for missing 11-year-old boy

Feb 3, 2020

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -- One week after an 11-year-old El Paso County boy went missing, authorities received a new piece of evidence to further the investigation into GS’s disappearance.
FOX31 obtained a copy of this evidence that came from a neighbor's surveillance camera. Authorities have asked us not to describe or show it yet because it’s a part of their investigation. To ensure we don’t compromise anything in the search for GS, we are honoring the sheriff’s office request.
A few doors down, neighbor RD did some investigating on his own.“I couldn’t sleep so I just stayed up and I started looking through [surveillance footage],” RD said, adding, “I looked through on my tablet, then I said, 'Let me look on my TV to be sure.”Police have asked us not to share what he found yet.“This is something the investigators are looking into and it would be part of our investigation,” Kirby said. RD took the footage to GS’s father, who immediately called detectives.“He just broke down crying,” RD said. RD says detectives were moved by the footage too.
“They said this is the break they needed,” RD said.

I had to speed read to catch up, so forgive me for not knowing who posted the info, but someone had said CS has a ton of cameras on their road ways, correct? And that it will take time to sort through it all...If you are right, I really think LE will be able to track her that way. They’ll get it pieced together & find Gannon. Trying to be patient:confused: MOO

I agree. There was a female neighbor who was interviewed early on. She said she lives across the street and checked her video and didn't see anything on it. Then the other neighbor, RD, found the Monday morning video a few days after Gannon's disappearance. LE would have obtained the female neighbor's video right away to examine the hours of 10:00 and on. Not just her video, but everyone who said they had video cameras. Takes time to search through all of this.

Was thinking about See No Evil as I went to sleep last night. I think that is precisely what LE are doing and exactly why the search area changes

I love that show and I think every case basically can fit into that show nowadays. If it helps find him, let's get a show on the road. I feel they know he is deceased. They are still working but talking about scaling down to a specific area/areas based on tips. I get it but let's get this done

My 7 year old just saw the trailer for the new Sonic movie and excitedly told me he wants to see it. My heart just sank for Gannon and his family. I’m hoping with everything he makes it home safely and can see Sonic. Please bring this sweet boy home to his family. Praying for answers and peace today.

My hunch on this is that LS was in the home with the biological parents, controlling the narrative, putting her arm around BM's shoulders, acting the part of worried stepmom and they were all staying there together (losing precious time since she had lied about everything) until (1) her "interview" which showed her only concern for herself and/or (2) the neighbor found the video. Then AS saw what he had married and what had unfolded and they kicked her out. Think about what was lost simply from the biological parents not ever suspecting her since she was acting the entire time.

She would have had time to plan all of this out - Dad is away in OK for two weeks, probably not even available by cell phone throughout the entire day due to training exercise. May BM is busy working until end of the day Monday when she would normally speak to GS over the telephone in the evening. By that time LS had already reported him as missing and she then has all that time until BM and AS can each fly to Colorado and be there at the home. Meanwhile this person is inside the home, hiding things? arranging the house and the story just so to concoct and make everything fit her superstepmom narrative.

It is really a wonder that some Angel whispered in RD's ear to "check your video surveillance" and this is the prime example of evil only being able to flourish when good people do nothing.
Bbm
She was already out of the house before the interview Friday
Link in media thread and here
VIDEO: Stepmom of missing Colorado boy speaks out
has anyone seen a transcript of her interview?

In the interview, LS talks about the trip the day before to garden of the gods and burger king, but leaves out any mention of going anywhere with Gannon on monday, the day he disappeared. I believe she says LE told her not to discuss anything else, because it is part of the investigation.

We see from the surveillance video that at the very least they went SOMEWHERE that day, even if he DID accompany her back to the home and we just can't tell from the limited video we have all seen. Why wouldn't she say "we had just gotten back from.....(wherever they went on monday), and Gannon asked to go to a friend's house..."

I think it's odd that she claims she can't discuss anything other than Gannon staying home sick from school and the hike the day before. Like, if they actually went to the pet store or out to lunch, or ANYTHING....that monday, why not say that? Feels like she is trying to hide something about that trip on monday, because why would LE instruct her not to talk about taking Gannon somewhere earlier in the day he disappeared? That doesn't make sense to me, but i am not LE.

Editing to add: the only reason i can think of not to mention the trip that monday is that she thought the surveillance wouldn't surface. Maybe that's why she backed the truck in first in order for Gannon to get in, she thought the neighbor's camera only covered the street where she was parked initially.
She can't talk about the details. Because the Devil's in the details.
MOO

I also wonder whether something happened on the Sunday. Presuming whatever it was caused Gannon to miss school, it follows that it must at the latest have happened early on the Monday. The mystery for me is, what was it that couldn't be explained away?
JMO

This is my opinion only. I think that something could very well have happened Sunday. TS, who has displayed some self-absorbed behaviors, was angered by something Gannon said or did, and beat him severely. That's why he was so slow to walk out to the truck and had to be helped into it. He couldn't go to school, she would be found out. Maybe Gannon would tell his dad. So she got rid of him. Do children need a doctor's note when they are out of school for any length of time?
When I was a child in the 50s, my father beat my brother so badly that my mother kept him home from school for a week, so this isn't so farfetched an idea.

I didn't notice that....going back to watch again.

jmo
I just re-watched and SM does sort of giggle - more like a nervous "filler" in the conversation. Not sure what it means - seems like she added the Burger King part like new info to the story, sort of how like liars add more details even when not asked, imo.

But, honestly, I'm not sure it means anything. If they went to Burger King, there would be a receipt, video in the restaurant, younger sister's version of the day, etc.

*Locals: Is there a Lorson Blvd Bridge that has been under construction at one point? If so, has it been completed?

The site is bordered by the Jimmy Camp Creek main channel to the west, the East Tributary to the east and south, and Lorson Blvd. to the north. The existing homes and developments to the south within the Apple Ridge subdivision and Peaceful Valley Estates are buffered by the Jimmy Camp Creek East Tributary. There is no proposed access to the south into Peaceful Valley Estates nor any proposed development immediately adjacent with this application.

Lorson Blvd. will be constructed along the entire length of the project connecting proposed bridges at both the main channel to the west and the east tributary of Jimmy Camp Creek. Completion of Lorson Blvd. will also provide better connectivity and additional vehicular routes to and from the Meadows filings previously constructed north of the Creekside development. Lorson Blvd. has been designed to handle existing and proposed traffic expected to be developed within the Lorson Ranch community. A traffic impact analysis was completed and is included with this submittal.

eta:
Lorson Boulevard is proposed as a collector road providing a second point of access to Lorson Ranch East and will run from Marksheffel Road east, curving north and eventually connecting to Fontaine Boulevard east of the proposed Lorson Ranch East development. The first portion of Lorson Boulevard, which extends from Marksheffel Road to Jimmy Camp Creek, is being constructed with the Carriage Meadows South final plat. These existing and proposed roads are adequate to serve the Lorson Ranch East development.

Yup, it’s pretty much like that Investigation Discovery show called “See No Evil” where crimes are basically solved by finding cameras in the area and then spending countless hours viewing all the footage. That usually leads to them having to find another camera that captures images of the perp. If lucky, they can get clear enough images to get license plates, passengers and identify the perp.

In this case, that could be taking a lot of time because they are trying (no doubt) to track everywhere she was Monday so the information can lead to what she did with Gannon.

It’s been weeks now. Where is he? Is he warm, does he have a bed, does he have food, clothing? Is he at a place that is safe? Is he happy, are there other children to play with?

I know things aren’t looking good for Gannon to be alive and I can’t think of a situation where he was taken care of where he wouldn’t be abused and harmed in many ways. Ok, now I want to cry. MOO

It will be two weeks tomorrow.

I went back and watched every video the neighbor speaks in. ( I may have missed one or two, so y'all feel free to correct me) in one, he says he saw Gannon and his sister playing outside Sunday. Most kids get up relatively early, at least around here. They could have been playing early. Anyway- the neighbor "never ever" says that 1015 video is from Monday. Not ever. Now reporters say Monday, but no mention of Monday specifically from him
