I believe you, but I've never really thought about this before and now I'm wondering what in the world those cameras are even for then. Why would live feed do anyone any good without recording?
The only reason I have ever known traffic lights/intersections to have cameras is to capture the license plates of the drivers who run red lights. They are pictures, stills, if you will. You can see the flash go off when a car runs a red light. Are we all talking about the same kind of cameras, I wonder?

No those are a bit different. If you go to cotrip.org you can see the live traffic cams. Constant live feeds all over CO.

Lately I've been hearing about license plate readers on the highways. I don't know how these work, besides scan license plates, I'll have to read more

I think the argument is that it’s not the whole video, and/or it’s only one angle.

We heard about the dad’s reaction to it, and he clearly believes that it shows what it is purported to show.

I agree, Gannon left with SM, and never returned.
Yeah, I like the one, "what if he got out and went inside 5min after the video ended?"

Ummm, I'm pretty sure they watched all of the footage. They only released the pertinent parts. They're not going to release a 16hr video.

That being said, It would be nice to see any other trips of loading or unloading the truck, before or after the "trip". (Assuming there isn't anything to see in the middle of the 4hr window)

Are they just to see live traffic conditions?

I'm surprised that they don't record if that is true.

Could it be some kind of a legal issue? I wouldn't think so.

Oh, I think I know what these are now; the cameras that you can check on for road conditions and traffic jams and such? I am not sure they're the same everywhere but if that's what we're talking about I think of that footage as pretty general and low-quality, not precise enough to ID a license plate or specific vehicle in most cases anyway. But maybe if you're a LE expert and you know what you're doing with the equipment it's a different story? I think this is a good example of why they should record if they don't.

They take photos of every license plate that comes into view, and upload them to a server.

Some are stationary, and others are mounted on police cars. In some states, they are mounted on city vehicles, like garbage trucks.

Ideally, SM’s location on the day in question could be narrowed down. They would enter her license plate number, and hopefully get a match for wherever her vehicle was spotted.

I think this was mentioned before, but I don't think those traffic cameras actually record. I know you can see them live, and it may be different in CS, but I know the other cams in CO are just a feed and you need someone there to press record. I only know this because I was in a hit and run accident a bit north of Denver. I got a hold of the monitors and they told me it's not recorded.

This is only my experience and I'm in Denver, but that's what I was told. Moo

Interesting about the recording. I am not sure either but I hope they have the ability to give some information. I guess if not, it will be back to canvassing businesses with cameras to see if they can track the vehicle.

The website says:
"The City's traffic cameras are intended to provide motorists with continual information concerning the traffic flow and incidents on highways and city streets.

When viewing the map, click on any of the camera icons to see a snapshot and location. Snapshots are taken approximately every two minutes." Traffic Cameras

How common are they?

In NYC, the parking and sanitation enforcement folks have the readers (hand held) where they drive by and can ticket you for registration issues as well as previous parking violations.

Wow! Just checked this out and I am amazed. Y’all should all go take a look, for real. There are TONS of these cameras! The most obvious reason IMO is to show roadway conditions. The current conditions of those roads gives clarity as to the purpose of why drivers would utilize the cameras, for sure! There is so much snow in that area right now. Poor, poor Gannon. God help those searching for him.

I apologize if this is posted somewhere but I looked at the timeline thread and didn't find anything. Has the red truck been searched by LE? Anyone know where the red truck is? Has LE questioned LS about the security camera footage showing her leaving with GS Monday AM and returning without him? TIA.

Nothing to answer any of these questions has been reported by MSM.

We just don’t know, as law enforcement is keeping this very quiet.

I can’t imagine the truck wasn’t seized and examined, as according to the SM’s account, law enforcement wanted the keys to her daughter’s vehicle. If they wanted that one, then they’d certainly want that pickup.

I definitely think they would want to talk to SM about that video, but that’s not law enforcement’s call. SM may decide not to cooperate, or could lawyer up.

I'm more curious than ever why they wanted the keys to the sisters car. I wonder what car TS took to Burger King. I wonder if the daughter is still in school.

It could be part of their procedure to check every vehicle with registered to that address regardless of where the owners say it was that day/night
