How likely is there to have been a bad dog fight in that particular area?

Not very, I imagine it's not the sort of place dog walkers would go, especially if it's very windy.

Perhaps a local would know for sure?

:cow:

Someone who lives nearby did state early on that people walk their dogs there.

I've been wanting to post this since last night.

It should be obvious that at least part of her remains was not in a trash bag. Remember that awful depressing Press conference? Well the investigator made mention that the press, and the helicopters, were aware that her body was "not intact". Now, how could that be, unless at least a portion of her remains was clearly visible?

Unless, as I postulated, LE laid her out and photographed her on site. But I have been told that this would be extremely unlikely.

If the winds blow that hard could her remains have been blown to that area or scattered. Is this really where she was left? tia

That would have to be some pretty heavy winds :what:

Hey Everyone,
I was mostly working over the weekend, and so I had very little time to read here -- with that said, I hope you'll all forgive me if you've seen / read all that I'm about to say already from someone else...

I noticed the FOX article that is being discussed at present mentions that its unclear if JR's remains were IN the garbage bag found near her remains or not.

"Portions of Ridgeway’s remains were found on a black garbage bag, though it is unclear whether her remains were once inside" http://kdvr.com/2012/10/21/exclusiv...uspect-linked-to-unsolved-attack-sources-say/

However, yesterday when looking for news on the case, I did a news article search of JR through Google, and this appeared:
http://www.themorningsun.com/articl...ppened-to-the-colorado-girl-&pager=full_story

According to that article, " At about 2 p.m., workers came across a plastic garbage bag in plain view near a culvert on the side of the road, said Arvada police spokeswoman Jill McGranahan. The bag was heavy and “seemed kind of strange,” she said.

At that moment, animal-management officers who typically chase down stray dogs and escaped livestock drove by.

The maintenance workers flagged them down. An animal-control officer looked inside the bag and saw human remains, McGranahan said. Law enforcement officials have declined to be any more specific than to say they discovered a body that was “not intact.”

I just though I'd put this out there incase you hadn't seen it yet, and to provide some further evidence. The second article I've linked to also asserts that Jessica wasn't walking to school that morning - she was walking to her friend J's place nearby. 1000ft away it says. When she didn't arrive at his place by 8:40 - J's dad drove him to school b/c school was to begin at 8:50am.

Apparently ... yes. Police have reported that the body found was Jessica, but she was not intact. That would suggest that more than one garbage bag was used. She was found near the culvert.

Could it be that the remains were double or triple bagged? JMO

I didn't mean to suggest that this particular piece of hair/fur came about in any particular way, only to point out that sometimes the difference isn't as clear as people would normally think.

I have many pages to catch up on this morning - but wanted to comment on this post from the last thread:

J does not live 1000 feet down the street. I do not understand this. I thought her mother said her regular routine was to meet her friends at the park and walk to school together. Why was she meeting this boy at his house? His house IS NOT ON HER ROUTE TO SCHOOL. Why the difference in routine this day? I realize I have missed many posts and have not been able to keep up like I usually do - but this is not sitting well with me.

Without sleuthing Jessica's friend, how do we know exactly where he lives? The location that was thought to be his home (and formerly indicated on a map posted here) may not have been correct. According to the Denver Post article it almost certainly is not correct. I don't take that possible location as the correct one.

IMO.

His address is on the transmission that was transcribed in the scanner thread. Here is a link: [ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=8435263&postcount=2171"]Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community[/ame]

ETA: I am not sleuthing a minor or his Dad - I am trying to determine where Jessica was supposed to walk that morning.

We don't know that more than one bag was found. I'm going with the Posts rendition of things, and am taking the entire article by Fox News with a block of salt. It sounded like the post actually spoke to the trash collectors themselves. Fox is the news equivalent of the Enquirer.

It appears that a police spokeswoman gave information about the trash collectors discovering the bag that seemed weird.

Article says the hair was found in a field about a mile from where her remains where found. Do we know exactly where they are talking about? The field was closed off while LE removed evidence bags, did any locals notice this activity on Sunday?

I agree, but the poster said 18 wheelers had been blown over.

They present a large flat surface for the wind to blow against.

I'm bringing this over from the last thread, posted by JoeJoet.

http://blogs.westword.com/latestword/2012/09/german_medina_murder_bertha_garcia.php

this guy looks exactly like the candyman sketch, and also has the look in his eye that was described by a psychic (yes, a psychic) - dark, frightening, evil.

If you read the article there are some striking similarities to the cases of late - "He always carried a long knife on him,"
and
"She also recalled an incident from a few months back, in which Media (sic) reportedly walked past her only to return and invade her personal space -- something he repeated three times, until she called her fiance outside."

this sounds like the MO of the Ketner Lake attempt. and he knows how to use a long knife.

if he's hiding in Mexico would he really come back to kill again here?
is he working with a partner?

Thanks, Etilema! Yes, I just reread this. Duh. So yeah, I'm going to go with what the actual spokeswoman said, rather than phantom made up story by Fox News.

The article was snipped, Etilema:

Police responded to a bar on S. Chambers Road late in the night of October 16 when a woman told them she was approached by two men in a small white car who asked her for directions.

The woman said she started to give them directions when the male passenger got out of the car, came up from behind her and tried to put a towel over her mouth. She said she knocked him to the ground and ran inside the bar to call police.

My gut is telling me this is a separate, but very scary incident. Aurora is increasingly growing into an unsafe area. It's been at least 15 years since I visited the Pitchers at Chambers and Iliff, but I remember then thinking it was "sketchy." Since then, it has become a hot spot for fights, gang banger wanna be's and I wouldn't let my cat hang out alone there.

It seems like these two are "copycats" (with the cloth over the mouth thing, it looked like he was attempting it with a towel) and seemed pretty brazen to try and grab this woman in a somewhat busy parking lot. Not to mention they had to know there are security cameras there. It didn't seem very thought out. I get the feeling this predator who took Jessica is more organized.

Also, Westminster is quite a distance from Aurora. If these incidents are related to Jessica and the attempted abduction, then it is truly scary as they are open to moving around from city to city and driving great distances seeking victims.

I tend to also think these two must be regulars at Pitchers and the local bars in Aurora, because otherwise, you probably would never know it even existed or have reason to visit it. It is kind of tucked away from that intersection.

Just my thoughts. At any rate, I hope they are caught soon!

I agree, but the poster said 18 wheelers had been blown over.

18 wheelers are big..tall and boxy, not very aerodynamic. I have also heard of them being blown over. But I would think something lower to the ground with some weight would be less likely to be blown around..like say a body.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? If that info is correct, he lives much farther than reported and out of the way for a walk to school. Unless she takes a known shortcut to his house, which would be significant in the question of where she might have been abducted.

Well, the candyman look alike with the knife who murdered his gf lives/lived in Aurora so it may not be isolated. it may be a good place to hang/hide out as well.
