I think this suspect has been doing bad things for a long time, got mad that he hasn't been noticed enough so he had to do something this extreme. he prob has a record and this last case was his way to get back at LE and get some attention.
either that or something changed in his life recently (family, work) and he's out of control and can't handle it and has to act out.

So you think his past murders/abduction cases didn't get national coverage?

I feel we would have to go back to the 90s or earlier to find a case where a young white girl (assuming his type of victim has stayed the same) is abducted by a non-family member in suburbia and found murdered and it doesn't get national attention...

Link to live report??? I bet that person refused to have his home searched and refused to give DNA. ??

Authorities at home of person of interest according to a KDVR Denver reporter on Twitter. He says a live report will be on local news at 10pm mountain time.

OMG, this is freaky. About ten minutes ago the fear/anxiety passed, and I had such a strong feeling that I should come back on...and I find this news. Oh please please please!

What I last heard LE say was that the body was 'not intact'. Has anyone here heard anything more detailed? Is dismembered the same as not intact? LE did say initially that they weren't certain whose body it was. That might mean that the head was severed and possibly the face was disfigured in some way so that id was not easy to establish.

I also recall LE saying they were not going to discuss what was inside the backpack. Why would they say this? Did the perp put something in the backpack, such as a body part? The head?

Wouldn't the perp have had to use a car in this abduction? LE may have checked out all the cars in the neighborhood, but since they have no suspects, how much checking could they have done? Did they use luminal (sp?) on each car? I think not. They didn't check for fibers, dna, etc. on every car in the neighborhood. So then, what did the car checking involve?

I doubt there was any body parts in the back pack, the neighbor checked it and got J's name from the water bottle...plus she would have been ID'd a lot sooner.

Just saw this tweet...not sure what to think?

I'm told authorities are only here to take DNA from man and arrest him on unrelated warrants. #jessicaridgeway

Don't they usually arrest them on unrelated charges until they have a grand jury meet to arrest them for the real thing? That way they are off the street.

This is a little OT...but I wanna share:
When I was growing up down here in the south, my momma used to sing all the time. She sang hymns mostly because that was what she knew best. I actually had a momma who cleaned the house and sang....she washed our clothes and sang...she ironed our clothes and sang.
My momma is a great grandmother now...and she is still singing! I was not raised as a racist person at all...but we have never had any other race in our family. We are all white. When my daughter fell in love with a young black man, I had so many fears. A period of self-examination ensued. It was very challenging for me and my husband. I hope that no one will think less of me for being honest about a vast array of uncertainty.
In the end, we loved and supported our daughter....and gained a son-in-law that we have grown to love as well. When they gave us our beautiful granddaughter, we fell in love!

My mother was the first one in line, behind me of course, to get ahold of that sweet baby. My mother adores her. It just so happens that my mother's mother is still living...so there are 5 generations of us here on this earth. My grandmother is 92 and blind. When she asked us to describe the baby to her, we all used the typical words....gorgeous, soft, pudgy. And then she asked, "Is she really a black baby?" We all burst out laughing! We realized we hadn't even thought of that. That's what love does. It changes the way we look at everything!

I love it when my momma holds my grandbaby and sings softly to her at bedtime. Momma says, "Honey, how does that new version of the old song go again?"
"What song, momma?"
"You know, honey....that new version of Jesus loves the little children. That's the one I wanna sing..."

My momma follows crimes but she doesn't like to get on the computer. And she gets really sad about these cases. She cries and gets depressed. So I told momma that we should sing and try not to be sad.
So Jessica...this song is for you from all the girls in my family...and me and momma are gonna sing it for you:

Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world....
Every color, every race,
All are covered by His grace....
Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Tears flowing. Beautiful story. Just lovely.

Does anyone have a link to live report?

OMG, I kid you not the exact same thing just happened to me! I actually checked to see if I had accidentally taken one of my sleeping pills because I had this wave of calm wash over me.

:please::please::please:

I'm on my iPhone so I can't link but KDVR has a live stream on their site.

News starts in 2 min.

LOL, not me. Back in the 'cave age' the school secretaries phoned the parents of all the kids missing that day. Back then, in our town, there was usually a parent at home during the day, and everybody knew each other. My mum knew ALL the school secretaries, and needless to say, I never skipped a day of school!

I don't want to sound cynical, but I think the original purpose of the calls were to alert parents that their child was not in school that day. And it was because they wanted to catch them skipping class and did not consider it an emergency at all. Just how I remember it.
