Police return to Berreth’s home for another follow up search
In both press conferences on the search for missing mother Kelsey Berreth, Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young has been adamant about his intention to exhaust all avenues in the investigation.

“At this point, we are considering every possibility. And I’m not willing to jump to conclusions, or label people involved in this highly complex investigation,” De Young said on Dec. 10.

Those words were backed up by more police action Wednesday, when local, state and federal law enforcement returned to Kelsey Berreth’s home with evidence response equipment.

Police have not said exactly why they returned to either property, what they are looking for or what they have already found, citing the ongoing investigation.

Mark Pfoff, who served as a detective in the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years before transitioning into becoming a computer forensics expert, said there are a few reasons why law enforcement would return.

“Specifically for something that was overlooked or missed. Or, now you’ve discovered more information because of the original execution of the search warrant, so you realize I want to go back,” Pfoff said. “There’s some other things that I want to look at now.”

A judge sealed search warrants issued in connection with the case. De Young has said only that they were obtained “based on information developed.”

“Kelsey has not been located and there have been no arrests to date,” Woodland Park police said in a Wednesday press release. “Investigators continue to make steady progress with multiple investigative leads in this case.”

Woodland Park Police Chief Miles De Young has called Berreth’s disappearance “suspicious,” and at a press conference last week pleaded with Frazee to “sit down with investigators.”

Frazee’s attorney, Jeremy Loew, said his client is cooperating.

CBI, other agencies search Kelsey Berreth’s home a 2nd time

90

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. – Kelsey Berreth has not been seen for nearly a month. On Thursday evening, investigators from multiple law enforcement agencies returned to her home once again hoping find new leads into her mysterious disappearance.

Investigators with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Woodland Park Police Department and the FBI were spotted at Berreth’s home just before 7 p.m. going in and out of the residence.

Denver7 photojournalist James Dougherty tweeted he heard banging coming from the inside as investigators searched her home.

While Young did not reveal what led them to Berreth’s home Thursday evening, he said investigators are continuing to make progress with “multiple investigative leads in this case.”

Such leads involved large pieces of evidence taken from the woman’s home, as witnessed by Dougherty, who said investigators brought large brown bags from inside the residence. At one point, the local fire department even brought a ladder inside.

Investigators pull evidence from Kelsey Berreth’s home
Local, state and federal law enforcement returned to Kelsey Berreth’s Woodland Park townhome Thursday, taking several covered loads of evidence that could help explain her disappearance.

It’s the task force’s second evidence collection trip to her home in as many days.

Crime scene specialists with both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Colorado Bureau of Investigation were seen hauling out dozens of items covered in brown bags for a few hours Thursday night. It’s unclear why police keep returning to the home, what they are looking for and what they’ve already found.

News 5 also heard what sounded like the bang of a hammer coming from inside the home during the search.

Before the search, News 5’s Sam Kraemer spoke with Berreth’s uncle, Ed Stanfill, on the phone.

Stanfill said he’s growing frustrated with the lack of public information being shared by police.

“I wish there was more facts they could share, but I understand if they can’t. There’s no way they want to jeopardize their case by letting something slip.. So, I understand that,” Stanfill said. “It’s just real frustrating when it’s been four weeks now, and we don’t know much more on the public side of it than we did originally.”
