Let me know if you have any other SDA questions!
If people attend church on Saturday, is it an all-day event? Or just a couple of hours? Is it noticed if people don't attend, or is attendance more casual?

I guess I'm wondering if Kelsey (and baby) missed Saturday, would people think that was strange or would people not really notice?

Couldn't it also be that she travelled- had an impulse to get out of town, turned her phone off so she wouldn't be hassled, turned it back on just make make a few texts, let work know that she wasn't coming in ( but didn't want to have to talk to ANYONE) and turned it off again? Again, just trying to think of alternatives that fit the narrative of the statement made on FB.

This. (Yes, I am way back on page 4.)

It’s just a couple hours. Usually 9:30-12. They do children’s programs first and church after. Churches are all different, and some more conservative, but if I didn’t show up no one would notice. Especially with the holiday on Thursday many people wouldn’t attend the following Saturday because of travel or family.

I’d like to comment on the numerous religion questions/speculation. I don’t think any SDA commented yet, but oops if I missed it!

I am a seventh-day Adventist (further refereed to as SDA) same religion as Kelsey and her family. We actually have numerous Mutual SDA friends (all located in Idaho and wa).

SDA’s are pretty normal ppl. Nothing crazy or extreme in our religion. The only huge difference is we go to church on Saturday instead of Sunday.

We celebrate all major holidays and birthdays. Thanksgiving and Christmas are just as big to us as anyone else. The only holiday not as largely celebrated is Halloween.

In SDA religion saving sex for marriage is taught. Having a child out of wedlock would be slightly “awkward” but it is happening more often. Most often the couple gets married before the child is born, or engaged and live together. It would NOT be likely that an SDA couple would have a child together and not live together if they were in a Relationship. If the couple was no longer together then it would be more likely to have a child custody agreement and live in separate houses.

Basically as far as religion I don’t see anything in this case that would be affected or different than any other case.
Thanks a lot for this.

I was under the impression that some of the usual rules might not apply here, because of religious beliefs.

I thought that we might have to look at things differently in regards to what would be normal behavior.

Clearly we probably don’t.

I can see her getting overwhelmed and wanting some time to herself, but not this much time. Her mom said at the press conference this was out of character for her, and I really can't see her just abandoning her daughter. Maybe she left on her own, but then something happened to her?

I would also venture to say that someone who had a baby out of wedlock might not be super conservative. For them the religion might be more of a cultural thing. (Not sure if i can say that?)

I think it's important to remember that her family is protecting her reputation. They are, naturally, hoping that she returns to them. If she was struggling mentally or doing anything that they don't think she would want people to know, they may not reveal that publicly because of the harm it would cause if she returned. I remember Nicole Mittendorff's case, they didn't reveal that they had found a suicide note until after her body was located because they still hoped to find her alive.

I don't think we can rule out that a third party is involved or she left on her own, though I don't see either as the most likely scenario.

If she and PF were having problems, he could have been respecting a request for space to clear her head. That's the only reason I can think of for why he didn't report her missing. I have tried to keep in mind that he may have tried to contact her while she was missing and we just have not been told about it..

Hopefully more information is shared with us soon. And hopefully some search warrants are granted so the police can get answers

This is where my head has been at all day.

Welcome! I have a few SDA friends and I know they are pretty similar in beliefs to any other sect of Christianity. My friends have different levels of commitment to their religion however (just like other mainstream Christians may). For example, I know SDAs are taught to be mostly vegetarian but I know a SDA couple where the husband is not so strict and eats red meat sometimes when he is dining out whereas his wife is very strict about her own diet. Not sure where I'm going with this in relation to this case, other than to say I think it is possible for someone to claim to be a SDA but not be practicing certain aspects of their faith (just as any other religion). I wonder if perhaps some differences in belief between Kelsey and her fiance OR differences between the couple and their families could have lead to the unusual living situation with a baby?

And....if she left on her own, how?

Her vehicles are there. I'm sure her credit card and bank accounts have been checked for activity. Bus stations, train stations, and airports have likely been checked.

If she left town, I don't think she did it on her own. Seems like if she left, it was in someone else's vehicle or someone else was driving her car.

If she harmed herself, she's likely nearby, somewhere she could travel to on foot. I haven't heard that LE has searched the area, but I guess they probably did - that would be SOP, I would think. No sign of her purse being found.

And, then there is ping in Idaho which makes me think she is NOT at a nearby location she traveled to on foot.

So...I think she is not nearby, did not leave home on foot, and was with someone else either willingly or not.

Thank you! Is SDA the sames as LDS?

But how would she have left?

Another question.

In general, is there any reluctance to involve police in a family situation? Or is there no such reluctance to contact authorities. I know you can't answer specifically to this case, but just a "general vibe" in the community at large? I'm guessing the answer is there is no reluctance, but I am curious.

Thanks.

Whoever looked up the weather report for Woodland Park on the week of November 22---thank you! According to the information you posted, the weather was beautiful on Thanksgiving day and all weekend. She might have gone for a walk or a hike on Thanksgiving.

Can someone please find the weather conditions for Sunday, November 25 in Gooding, Idaho? That was the location and date her phone last "pinged," and the date she supposedly texted work and her child's father.

TIA

She could have hitchhiked ( although, we have no known spottings) or she was with someone, perhaps a fringe friend that the family or her fiance did not know about.

She would have had to have help, but it is possible she met up with someone and they drove her somewhere. I don't think it's what happened, but it is possible. We don't know her medical history, she could have had some problems with depression and got overwhelmed.

I found it here.

Seasonably cool, but no inclement weather.
