Public left to speculate on Northern Colorado shootings http://www.coloradoan.com/story/news/2015/06/03/speculation-mounts-windsor-enters-summer/28443841/

"As a special task force quietly chips away at thenow-linked shootings of a Windsor man and a Milliken woman, speculation is building about what evidence ties the two random attacks and whether a third shooting is on the horizon.

"They must have found ballistics, matching projectiles, guns or witnesses. There's something concrete tying this together," said Mark Pogrebin, a criminal justice professor at CU Denver. "They have something. Somebody knows something. Somebody saw something. This person might even give himself away. People start to get cocky and talk."

But that hasn't happened yet, or if it has, no arrests have been made."

"The Windsor Police Department has fielded numerous calls and received several tips since 47-year-old John Jacoby's body*was found on a Windsor roadside*May 18, shot twice. The shooting happened just 4 miles east of the location where 20-year-old Cori Romero*was shot at twice*while driving onto Interstate 25 near Harmony Road on April 22.

The cross-county cases have presented a massive puzzle not seen in Northern Colorado for years, if ever.

Adding to the tension, Thursday is*Windsor's annual all-town barbecue at Boardwalk Park*— an event that draws hundreds from the tight-knit community for free food and live music. The summer concert series that regularly packs the park also starts Thursday. While the organizer of the Pelican Fest Triathlon opted to cancel the race out of concern for attendee safety, no plans were in the works to call off any of the town's summer gatherings, Windsor police Lt. Rich Higuera said."

"Ray Martinez, a Fort Collins City Council member who served as an undercover narcotics detective with Fort Collins police, said he's never seen anything like this after living here for 58 years. Deeming it a serial incident, he said his instincts suggest investigators have a ballistics match but are holding off on releasing more information so as not to show their hand.

Police have not yet released details about the type of weapon used in the attacks or any sort of suspect description.

"I would say two crimes of the same nature 30 days apart shows that person has been here awhile and evidence that that person lives in one of our surrounding communities," Martinez said."

"Agents from the FBI as well as investigators from Windsor, Larimer and Weld counties are all working in tandem on different aspects of the case. Windsor is handling all public information, and*the FBI has assigned agents to the case*as a force multiplier. Authorities have not yet said how exactly the FBI is aiding the probe, saying only they have access to more skilled investigators and more powerful tools.

Tensions remain high as the public grasps for any new leads in the case and as residents clamor for information on whether a spate of shattered vehicle windows in the region are tied to the shootings. *advertiser censored*Tuesday report of a window shattering*in Fort Collins immediately sparked a social media frenzy, especially because it came just hours after a cyclist died west of the city; officials later said*he'd had a heart attack."

"Posting on Facebook, Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith explained why the public is largely being kept in the dark.

"Failure to do so can cause rampant rumors that not only can cause significant sidetracking of investigative resources but can also bring unfair scrutiny of persons who are not responsible for the crimes."

"... As the task force proceeds, don't expect constant public updates, unless there is new information to report. The task force will be very busy investigating leads and piecing together the evidence, but we will be very careful not to publicize anything that might hinder our primary goals," Smith wrote."

East First Street and St. Louis Ave looks to be about a mile from Loveland Laser Tag and Front Range Gun Club. The Laser Tag place is open until 10:00 pm- this gentleman was found, still alive at the time, just before 11.

We tALkED ABOUT THESE PLACES UPSTREAM DIDN'T WE?
(SORRY FOR CAPS, KEYBOARD JUST CRAPPED OUT.)

sEE YALL LATER TONIGHT, HAVE TO WORK NOW. :(

I've added the report of the shooting of the 65 year old man in Loveland to the map (by the star, with the label "Man shot 6/3/15").

Disclaimer: As normally, I added it as mappable information that came up on the thread as possibly having some relation to the case. No judgement is made as to whether it really is related.

It was Wednesday night about the same time Cory was shot, I guess around the same time. A drive by, a pedestrian, a senior, shot yet lived long enough for paramedics to reach him, so probably shots taken very fast at close range in haste to kill.

This creep wants attention, wants everybody scared, but his choice of victim, says to me that the creep doing this is scared too, not risking the highways, but with itchy fingers, in areas scouted before, if it is linked.

A "frenzy" indeed, harrumph. We have been "soberly deliberating" I figure!

If you look at the map, zapped is right, Greeley, is a area clean of incidents around it. It's a straight shot on 34 and side roads, probably areas familiar to the perp. Gilchrist, is the other place that stands out.

zapped, thanks for the Ford color information.

OMG!!!! No way I'm taking a break for my own sanity. We've got to find this guy!
I, glad you're back!...and I can't quite see my house on the maps...yet...but, my husband and I drive these routes frequently for work...i.e. We are staring a new job in Loveland tomorrow...and have to travel to Ft. Collins for supplies...the last time I went for supplies I got detoured off Harmony Rd through Windsor...I was surprised at how secluded or covered the frontage rd was where is comes near the river... Not too far from where JJ was killed...if I see anything similar in the three shootings it's that each is on the edge of town (Ft Collins, Windsor, Loveland) where not only jurisdictional lines get crossed, but the shooter might see a better chance of a clean getaway... Weld County Rds are not heavily patrolled (not sure about Larimer County) and they make a point of letting rural residents know that...

Confession: I am map challenged! If you lovely folks didn't mark everything in pretty colors I would never figure it out on my own so thank you for that! How far is this shooting from where the window was shattered the night Cory was shot? That shattering shows 9:50 pm, Wednesday, 4/22.
I'm wondering what is bringing him off his preferred route on Wednesday nights?

A task force pulled from several area law enforcement agencies have scheduled a 4 p.m. media briefing to provide an update on this case. That task force includes officials from the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Windsor Police Department, Weld County Sheriff’s Office, Larimer County District Attorney’s Office, and Weld County District Attorney’s Office.

Easy to do! (First we'll get you hooked on the maps, and only later make you learn the mechanics! :) )

It's about 13 miles, driving distance, from the "Romero Shot 4/22/15" location to the latest "Man shot 6/3/15" shooting in Loveland. It's only about a mile and a half drive from the other "Shat. 4/22/15" location to the "Man shot 6/3/15" location.
