There were 20+ stairs & carrying dead weight is much different than carrying your bride over the threshold IMO.

I carried a 185lb mannequin for 100+ft many times in Fire Department PT tests which came after all the other physical activities and I was never in the shape he appears to be.

It can be done and isn't as impossible as many want to make it.

I agree and factor in adrenaline with that.

And if they were lucky enough to find any of SW’s DNA on the children’s necks they would use it to create reasonable doubt.
Maybe. It could be all they may have at trial, if they have it. I can certainly see the defense highlighting the finding, but the prosecution could counter that notion when she dressed/undressed them, hugged them, tickled them, or tucked them in their beds, she could have transferred her own DNA to their bodies, necks, etc.
Uphill battle, but it may be -- based on what we know now, anyway -- all the defense will have.
Will they put this man on the witness stand? And how much will he tell his defense team -- how about his confession? They can't suborn perjury, so they need to be careful, IMO. He won't be the smartest man in the room despite what he may think.

I agree with this post. I’m a retired family therapist but although I have over 20 years of experience and much education....I don’t consider myself an expert because after a few years of “gardening” my DSM knowledge is quite rusty! Lol but hopefully can still add my unique contribution ! :) Thank you to all the wonderful Sluethers !

I get that. I was a family therapist for many years. I haven't practiced for 8 years and I let my license expire. I don't want to get verified as an expert in mental health, even though I was a professional for many years, because I am not one now. Still, I think I can add to the discussion on that level.

I am also a true crime author and have written many books on high-profile crimes. However, they were ghostwritten. It is literally against my NDA to show proof to anyone outside of the publishing company that I wrote them. (Although my novels are all in my own name.)

I sit on our state's human trafficking board, am a former travel writer, and volunteer in our area's rural action group which gives me a lot of insight into my area's drug and economic issues. I think I can add to a lot of discussions, but I really do enjoy a bit of anonymity. I was hesitant to sign up in the first place because I worried about providing my name and email. My career literally depends on what a portion of the public thinks of me and I make statements on here that I wouldn't in other places online.

If strength isn’t the issue, then maybe there was some other logistical one. Perhaps the size of the opening or something. It doesn’t make much sense to take the time to dig a grave otherwise.

How long did it take to do that?

The defense attorney filed a motion Friday requesting that DNA samples be taken from the recovered bodies of Shanann Watts, and daughters Bella and Celeste Watts. But a Weld County District judge dismissed the motion, citing concerns about the credibility of the forensic expert consulted by the attorney, the Denver Post reported.

But according to the Post, Eikelenboom admitted during a 2016 sexual assault trial that he had no experience with DNA extraction or analysisand a Denver District Court judge subsequently barred Eikelenboom from testifying as an expert witness.

Thank you PommyMommy!

I cannot stop the replay in my head of him standing on the porch I think with arms folded saying something like "well we had an emotional conversation and I'll just leave it at that.." like at that moment he was still gonna go with the we talked about divorce, I went to work and when I came home she and the kids were gone...um without a car.
Did he think we all would believe the starship enterprise flew over with Scotty and Captain Kirk and beamed all three of them up or something?
Or she ubered it with 2 kids to...where? North Carolina in an uber?
Some friend picked her up? Oh wait but no friends knew where she was.
What an idiot.

The truck CW used, was also a company vehicle, no doubt, filled with evidence. And probably has a GPS wired system right into it. They could track his every single move with the truck, not even needing any type of warrant, just permission from the company.

LEO probably knew CW was guilty before he did his "15 Minutes of Fame" press release. It was just more icing on the cake.

The complete lack of planning and disorganization makes me think that this happened, out of control, and it just kept spinning. So he decides to just carry on like nothing happened and go to work, what is done is done.
bbm
I know my hackles would have been up as soon as I saw her keys, purse, phone, (whetever was on that list,) etc., etc., in the home after CW said she & the girls had gone to visit someone. Bang! --->The target is right in front of them. How can a visit be explained after those items were found? If CW had said he had no idea where they were and acted worried about it, LE could have at least added "possible kidnapping" to their "Where are they?" list, but CW removed that doubt. (Idiot)

Spoiler alert: The affirmative defense of his wife killing the kids, won’t fool a single member of the jury. Go for it Mr. Watts!
IMO, any defense he comes up with falls about when it goes, "and then he dumped the dead children into huge containers of oil."

Juries are going to notice that part.

Not only lazy, I think he was sloppy because he thought he wouldn’t be suspected. He thought he was cleverer than he was, and that he was cleverer than everyone else. JMO of course.
Obviously I think he is guily. I just don’t understand how everyone is saying lazy . There are pictures in SW FB of him washing dishes and mowing with a child in a carrier on his back . SW even talked about how hard of a worker he was . The neighbors interviews , friends all say he had been a great person they did not see this coming . They mentioned a disconnect of the relationship between he and his family , not as affectionate as of late. I see him as a monster for killing his family it just bewilders me that every comment we have from those who know him say he was not a narcissist , lazy , wife beater . Everyone was shocked . I survived A bad marriage of domestic violence . I can verify photos and court documents if needed. I will say one thing . I thought I kept it a secret , all my friends knew. My behavior changed , his control changed me going out, working , even the way I spoke . You can only use the “I fell “ excuse a few times before people start looking for bruises on you . I am not claiming to know their marriage but I am listening to those who did. I see flaws in SW just bc she made her life public . We all have flaws it is no reason to be murdered . The babies , totally innocent . So I just wonder how off everyone is on the profile , if we don’t listen to those involved in their live and assume we and the media knows more .

Exactly. That doesn’t sound like the action of a loving father. “My wife killed the kids, so I desecrated their bodies by dumping them in a vat of sludge.” That’ll rile up the jury as much as any detail in this case will. I think a plea is likely at some point.

We’re talking about him being “lazy” and “sloppy” in the context of the crime, not his everyday life.

So thanks to NU, he wasn't able to clean up before LE showed up. But was he going to clean up after LE left?

No, he still didn't clean up. He slept well Monday night. On Tuesday, he was busy interviewing.

Then on Wednesday, LE found the pillow cases and a sheet in the kitchen trash can. He was arrested that night.
This guy clearly doesn't know how to clean up or stage the scene.

Monday morning
Going with the theory that he murdered her almost immediately after she got home at 1:48 AM and he left for work at 5:27 AM, what did he do during this time.
Does anyone think that he actually was able to sleep with those bodies (or a body) in the house?
Why did he not use this 3 hours and 39 minutes to clean up?
Monday evening
Why did he not clean up anything?
Or was he told by the police not to move anything until they were able to get a warrant?
How does that work?
Tuesday in-between interviews/friends visiting
Same questions as Monday.
One would think he would have moved the suitcase to the closet along with her shoes.
Did he forget the linens in the trash can? He could have put them in the washer!

Just my random thoughts.

He also likely had been awake for what, 24 hours? That is I f he slept Saturday night - sounds like he had a sitter, so who knows what happened that night. And putting the girls in two separate tanks...I would think with the sun rising and after that long drive, he was probably too exhausted to haul her up. I’m guessing he thought he would have more time to go back and finish what he started. I think he was convinced no one would be following up so quickly.

I agree. Shanann’s friend screwed everything up for him. I just wish we could have seen his reaction when he realized that his diabolical plan was coming apart.
