Many of those sites are in not populated areas at all. You could dance on top of the tanks and no one would know the difference unless they all have camera's which I do not have that info. They are all over the place and the farther east you go the more there are. I believe I read this morning that he put them in tanks 40 miles east of their location.

Were Colorado girls strangled? Father’s lawyers requested DNA swabs from children’s necks.

A motion filed Friday by attorneys defending CW asks that DNA samples be taken from the children’s necks. The document cites an expert who argued that DNA would still be present on the bodies — even though they had been submerged in crude oil for four days before they were found — but that evidence would be lost once the autopsies were performed.

DNA expert Richard Eikelenboom said that the hands of the children, as well as the hands and nails of their mother should all be sampled as well. He and defense attorneys did not seek swabs from the mother’s neck.

This suggests that Shannan may not have been strangled.

Casey never admitted killing anybody, though. When your wife and kids are murdered in your house and you admit to the wife it's not a leap to think you killed the kids too.

Judge Belvin Perry said after the CA trial, (paraphrase) that, this is Florida, sadly kids drown in Florida everyday and everyday 911 is called, never does Grandpa take the dead child put her in a garbage bag and toss her into the woods.

This case reminds me of that saying, if your children are being strangled (which they were NOT) by their mother, NEVER would you NOT call 911 and throw the deceased children into a crude oil barrel...

Just still thinking about his story, if there is no plea and this goes before a jury, I am just really hoping that the State will really, really stress to them to ask themselves: what would they do in the case of defendants story? Drive 40 miles to hide corpses in crude oil tanks or call the police and the ambulance and the neighbours etc for help?

She wasn’t making $80k - that’s her sales level. The figures I saw showed his salary around $65k and total income $90k so she was making around $25k. MLM doesn’t make you rich, his steady job and income was paying the bill. I suspect the $25k she made would have all been spent on the numerous Thrive trips (Thrive would likely only pay flights and accommodation) and the rest would have been credit cards.

I believe it is because of the backlash she has received (warranted backlash and appropriate scrutiny IMO) about her promoting her business via SW's memory.

I know business is business but I cant imagine promoting in SW's name, if they were close friends. I would still be in shock and devastated by the loss of such a close friend. Just my opinion.

The defence motion for neck DNA swabs seems to me to be SOP, especially now we know CW’s story from the affidavit.

Personally, I feel like CW is just making up his story as he goes along. I've followed this from the beginning and I think he's smart enough to where IF the story really went like he says it did he would have acted differently. Not removed the bodies from the home and staged this giant "my wife and kids have gone missing!" charade. I think he would have been panicked, no doubt, but he would have wanted to make sure LE, family, the community, etc. knew that he didn't kill his children and only killed his wife out of rage/revenge for her killing them.

I think he (very maliciously) killed his wife and children. The plan was to play innocent/victim husband and when they never come back play it off like they must have ran off and go begin his new life with the mistress. But that didn't work. The evidence was closing in on him, so he quickly devised a new plan. Confess to murdering his wife but save a tiny bit of his reputation (and potentially avoid more charges) by not admitting to killing his kids. But now there's the problem of 1) why did you dump your kids bodies? Because now your story can't be proven. 2) The timeline.

He reminds me a lot of Scott Peterson, honestly. Appears to be a picture perfect husband/family. Wife is pregnant, but he's having an affair. He wants a separation, but wants the wife and child(ren) completely out of the picture so he kills them.

I also think it's very possible that SW came home at 2Am and confronted him about the affair, it escalated, he snapped. In no way, shape, or form, can I be convinced that SW strangled her children and he then "went into a rage".

I believe they most likely did have security; however, CW was an employee, so he had access to the oil fields. I am imagining a badge or something like that he could scan to gain entry.
As a field operator for Anadarko, his job responsibilities were to "perform operational duties in accordance with operating procedures and guidelines, including executing start up, shut down, and maintenance of field equipment, performing troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, and replacements of equipment as necessary..." (from Anadarko website, job description). Basically he checked on the oil wells, so perhaps nothing strange at all about him being out there, on the surface.
Per the affidavit, police knew which site he had been at that morning BEFORE he gave them that information. I'm guessing that is because he had to gain entry through some kind of security measures, such as an employee ID/badge.

In regards to him being fired it was said that he was given a drug test at work and it came up positive for cocaine. That that is the reason he was fired. It’s also said Nicole claimed he wanted nothing to do with the media at first but was talked into doing the interview.

I googled "Chris Watts cocaine" and came up with nothing. Can you please link where you saw this, because most of us have not seen or heard this before and I'm doubting it's true.

This sweet little child moved me to tears when I heard that. The terror she must have known as he snuffed out her life is sickening beyond belief. No punishment is too great for anyone capable of doing this.

I was surmising that his first priority was to hide the corpses as well as appearing "normal" and showing up for work on time, and that he would clean up after himself in afternoon when coming home from work maybe. So thankful that that very good friend rang the alarm so quickly!!

If this unmitigated disaster happened to you, why would you go to work the next day and try to behave as if nothing had happened?

Your two children have been murdered by your spouse and your first thought is to hide their bodies in oil? Wouldnt you want them to have a decent funeral?

Even if you had killed your spouse in self-defense, wouldnt you have called LE and called in to work?

I fell apart when my cat was hit by a car, and I couldn't even talk. This is leagues beyond that

WOW! i actually joined this site just to add that in all of his recent photos his pupils appear to be "pinned out" a sign of opiate abuse.. pure speculation from someone who deals with opiate addicts on a daily basis but i think drugs are involved for sure

Interesting you notice that. I've suspected, based on some pics on
sm, that he was doing steroids due to his sudden muscle growth and definition. This article suggests steroid use and opiod and stimulant use often go hand in hand. And it can become an addiction. We know the thrive Burn product contains stimulants,
and IMO, he appears to have been using steroids, he could have
been using numerous substances to maintain or improve his
body muscles and energy level. He sounded in his instagram acct. to be unusually 'high' energy- work 10 hrs out in sun,
come home and at 8:30 pm go for 10 mile run.

I still wonder about any life insurance on SW the amount when it was bought, etc. With her health problems could she or he gotten any on her? If SW did have life insurance I would think since she was the main breadwinner it would be sizable.
I also think the prospect of paying child support for 3 kids would have played a big part in his decision to kill them. MOO
