I cannot even begin to put myself in these parents shoes. I cannot begin to imagine what they are feeling, therefore, I am not going to pick apart their next move or their choices after they just found out that their child is alive. I pray for each family involved. It is easy for us to say what we would do, but we are not in their shoes at such a tragic time.

It is interesting that the killer went into the principal's office first and shot her instead of walking down the hall to the room associated with his mom. I wonder if his mom had been called off work that day or why he directed his bizarre behavior at the principal.

Hi Pens, I didn't see it reported that the adults (principle, vice principle, counselor and witness) were inside the principal's office.

All I read was the witness' account that they were in a meeting and the adults (3) other than the witness left the room in order to see what was going on and only one returned (crawling after having been shot in the foot, who I am assuming is the VP).

I'm not asking you for a link, I trust you. Did they say it they were in the principal's office for sure? TIA!

Thank you so much for this response. I honestly do not know much about either. I just know that it has been reported that AL might have had one of the two disorders (is that a proper word?).

Asperger's is considered high functioning form of autism.

Here it is. The mom had to stay home and take care of this twenty year old.

He had some severe mental health issues and not just autism. This is also why we can't find any employer for him. Schizophrenia has characteristics in common with autism. His brother that said he had Asperger's might have been misinformed or misunderstood his younger brother's diagnosis.

My head can't get past the fact that I used to be completely against torturing any living soul. Now.....not so sure anymore. Kids!!! Just little kids!!!!

I am not sure with those guns you need a lot of skill at shooting a target. You just aim and pull the trigger. No skill involved. jmo

I do not know much about Autism (Yes, I am ashamed for that) or Asperger's (sp?), but are they typically honors students?

They are usually very bright but often lacking in empathy.

I think we will hear more from the father as time goes by. The mother was probably always in denial abt the shooters mental health, but I bet Dad knows the details.

Several said in separate interviews that it was their understanding that he had a developmental disorder. They said they had been told that the disorder was Asperger’s syndrome, which is considered a high functioning form of autism.

I've been mulling that over in my head. I suspect he was misdiagnosed, but I can't say for sure since I am not an expert.

The Navy Seal's Advice- If near an exit get out. Always be alert when entering an area of strangers. Look for two exits, just in case. If shooting starts don't start running, but get down and behind something. Don't panic. Take a few seconds to try and figure where shots are coming from, then try to crawl in opposite direction to the next hiding spot that might protect against bullets, such as a wall or large plant. When 20-30 feet away from shooter and bullets, then run.

I'm totally at a loss of understanding. He killed his mother before arriving at the elementary school. Why did he go to the school and commit the unthinkable??? What is his connection to that school besides his mother's employment, if anything? Senseless.

I'm thinking it's merely the closest school to his house and a great place for him to inflict as much pain as possible.
