South Korea reported nearly 500 new coronavirus cases on Monday, sending the largest national total in the world outside China past 4,000.

Four more people had died, the Korea Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said, taking the toll to 22.

South Korean media on Monday reported the strain on medical facilities and staff has grown so intense that elderly patients and those with existing health problems will be prioritised.

Coronavirus: South Korea reports 476 new cases and 4 more casualties

I’m glad South Korea is looking after the elderly and those who has pre-existing conditions as a priority.

The WHO said FOUR things countries must do, and #2 was get the communities and government to take care of elderly. US so far, gets an F. We can do better.

I wonder where they’re keeping them isolated. At their homes?

Florida sees 2 coronavirus cases, DeSantis calls for public health emergency

The infected individuals are residents of Hillsborough and Manatee County, both near the Tampa Bay area. Officials said the Hillsborough County resident has a history of traveling to Italy, while the patient from Manatee County has no travel history to any of the CDC-restricted countries.

Both patients are in isolation and actively being monitored by the Florida Department of Health. They will remain there for at least 14 days or until they test negative for COVID-19. He designated the department as the lead state agency to coordinate an emergency response.

SARS-CoV-2 genome from 5th patient in NSW, Australia. Recent travel to Iran. Importantly, the virus appears to group with another Iran traveller detected in Canada. Looks like we are starting to get a picture of the viral diversity from outbreak in Iran. #SARSCoV2 #COVID2019 John-Sebastian Eden on Twitter

This is the problem....and the future problem for the US...

2/2 in an hospital of Lombardy they had initially 7 ICU beds and they increased to 13, 100% are occupied by covid19. They have to redirect 1-2 ICU patients a day. They don’t have enough oxygen ports for all the patients that need them. All hospitalized even outside ICU need oxygen.

Hi All,
Wanted to share my experience at the casinos this weekend. Sis and I were vigilant using wipes and trying to avoid any obviously sick people. There were so many people coughing and not covering. One Asian lady was coughing into her hand and then wiping on machine screen as people do for luck. I handed her a wrapped wipe and she said she didn’t want it!! I was shocked.

Sis and I had facials planned for our birthday. My aesthetician said she was not concerned at all about Coronavirus and told me I should buy some liquid collagen that she will be selling. She then told me she had just returned from a sales conference in Miami attended by international people and everyone seemed sick!! Seriously. I couldn’t wait to come home. My hands are bone dry from washing so much.

Very concerned with the lack of interest in people here in N.J. about this virus. Also, my doctor refused to refill my anxiety medicine unless I come into office. I was just there three months ago and want to avoid doctors offices.
Lastly, very concerned about another sister and her family on Long Island, NY. Several cases being watched and people self quarantining. My sister, who is deaf, is worried about lack of info. All of my sisters are trying to prepare.

It is not easy to help others when you’re not next door. Brought supplies and extra food to my mom but what would I do if my mom had to quarantine. How are you all planning to help extended family or those family who don’t live near you?? Sorry for long post

#COVID19 Latest numbers [Mar 1, 2020] in two figures. Trend is sobering. Fig. 1–Confirmed Cases (CC): Linear (left graph) vs Log2 (right graph) scale. CC have doubled every 4-7 days for ROW since Feb 3 while China’s CC are definitely plateauing. At this rate, . . . 1/n Prof. Dr. Benhur Lee, MD on Twitter

That's alarming, I'm sure the US will find a way to deal with it, but it makes you wonder.

I just listened to one of the reporters on the Today Show claim this was no worse than what he referred to as "seasonal flu" and basically said people were blowing the whole thing out of proportion. That's problematic, JMO.
