Just because he’s the VP doesn’t make concerns people may have about the veracity of the information we receive from him political. I absolutely want to know how well someone has or hasn’t performed a similar duty in the past, regardless of their political affiliation.
It causes conflict on this thread.....its about science and compassion....please don't go there!

Agreed. The politics and the science of the handling of the virus outbreak is a crossroads of concerns. Has the president truly appointed the best person(s) to handle this? It's a concern I have which has nothing to do with how I feel about any politician.
Once more....please don't go there.....you all will be looking up your own info if you do. I don't have the patience for it. People are going to die. Its not relevant to the situation....

( @Hatfield , speaking of becoming “re-infected”...)

Each time I hear about re-infection, I wonder whether the test methods are rigorous and sensitive enough. It seems that some people test negative several times and then they are positive. Now we have people who test positive, recover, test negative, and then test positive again. It's almost like the virus can go into stealth mode and testing cannot detect this.

Googled does washing clothes kill germs and found some disturbing/gross info. Not sure if this counts as scientifically based info but I’ll see if I can find more.
You Asked: Does Washing My Clothes Kill All the Germs?
I think I’m going to run a clean cycle with some bleach in my washing machine quick.

JMO
I do the laundry sometimes-LOL in my household, and even for colored loads, I have found I can add in a little bleach with no problems in it making my colored garmets have any bleach stains or anything.

I do not add bleach to any clothes that are really expensive dress or work clothes but for general items like blue jeans and sweatshirts and all regular clothes, I always add a little bleach and never seem to have an issue.

Proceed with caution of course because depending on your washing machine and how it mixes in the bleach compartment, your machine may end up affecting colored garments. Mine never seem to be phased by a little bleach.

Oh, and if a garment is brand new, then I never add bleach of course because it takes a few regular cycles to make sure the brand new colors get used to washing.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - The Vatican moved on Friday to dismiss speculation that Pope Francis was anything more than "slightly unwell" as the 83-year-old Roman Catholic leader canceled official audiences for the second day.

The Vatican has not specified what the pope is suffering from.

I really don't understand what your issue is? Mine is not a political comment at all. In fact, I was trying to alleviate the political part of it.

I would be (and am) concerned about anyone who is coordinating information we all need to "not die." And it is relevant if information is not being coordinated state wise and nationally. When someone (anyone) has been put in charge of a task such as this, I hope he/she is the most qualified to do so. That's all I'm saying and I'm sorry if I pushed your patience.

From now on I’m wearing disposable gloves when I’m shopping with a shopping cart. I don’t care if I get looks.
I noticed all the cashiers at Walmart are wearing gloves now. Maybe they did before and I never noticed?

I witnessed panic buying here in Scotland for the first time today. People were desperately trying to find face masks and hand sanitizer in my two local chemists. Nobody had any in stock.

At the moment I’m not starting to panic yet as there are no confirmed cases in Scotland. I have no plans to travel and I’m being very careful as my immune system is suppressed due to my Crohn’s disease.

However, I am very concerned about all the people and animals who are being affected by this crisis around the world and hope and pray things start improving very soon. I understand entirely why people are so worried and why they are stocking up should they have to isolate themselves.

Don’t get me started on washing machines!

Clean your washers, people. And also, don’t use the sensor fill that just barely get the clothes wet. Use more water! (I’ll stop now. Promise.)
I hear ya - we want our clothes clean and keeping washers clean is worthwhile, but are people getting sick because of washing machines? Serious question.

I can understand in a hospital setting you want to make sure everything is absolutely sterilized.

But for home use, are washing machines not good enough? I've never known anyone to get sick because their washed clothes weren't clean. Is this a thing?

My feelings re this topic getting political is reading various SM threads re our political world today. So much BLAH from both sides. This virus cant be tainted with the political $hitstorm because so much valuable time will be wasted in controlling the coronavirus. JMO

Stay well my friend! I think staying home as much as possible is the best thing most of us can do.

First thing one specialist asked me was about the type of washer we had. She told me to replace it.

So yes, with certain autoimmune conditions.

Meat and eggs will build your immune up. The carnivore lifestyle and limiting carbs does protect your immunity greatly. My children have not been sick once for over 3 years when doing little carbs in a diet. JMO

It hasn't caught on in my small NJ town yet. I felt a tiny bit selfish today stocking up on supplies at the grocery store and the pet store. But I tried to only buy enough for DH, myself and my 2 cats to last a short while. I admit I bought some things I never would have otherwise, thanks to advice here (protein shakes for one) and spent much more money than I normally would at the store. My cats are good to go for a long time.

Thanks for the info. It's not something I've heard of before, but I don't have autoimmune conditions. I can see special care in that case.

But for the general public, I don't think we need to worry much about our washers. Keep 'em clean, of course, but don't stress over it, imo.

I've been stocking up - and I totally forgot about getting extra pet food! DUH. Thanks for that.

Going grocery shopping right now, in fact....Corona and limes (and more).

LOL. So many beer comments we could have fun with, if this weren't such a sad and serious topic. It is a unique coincidence that the virus has this name. JMO

PS I also stocked up on bird feeder supplies. I have my outdoor friends as well that depend on me during cold weather.
