About 200 cases of the coronavirus have now been confirmed across Australia, and three people have died.

There are 92 cases in New South Wales, 36 in Victoria, 35 in Queensland, 16 in South Australia, 14 in Western Australia, five in Tasmania, one in the Northern Territory, and one in the ACT.

On Thursday afternoon there were 141 virus cases across Australia. That jumped to 200 by the same time on Friday – an increase of 41 per cent.

I wish they would say in which suburbs there were confirmed cases.

Well it’s hard to stay six feet away from people if you don’t isolate.

And if it’s spreading in your connunity, the CDC recommends social distancing:

Avoid close contact
Our Governor just gave his evening update. Yeah, he suggests social distancing but in the same breath he says “you can go out to eat if the tables are spread out.”
I think we all know our circle of friends, their work/contacts, etc., and must decide what is best for us. I can easily have people in and maintain “distance” and still enjoy convo. Or go for a hike or horseback ride with someone. I won’t be in any bar or restaurant with a coughing crowd and people clustered at the door smoking, exhaling their germs, lol.

MEXICO....how ironic...

Mexico's deputy health minister Hugo Lopez-Gatell said contagion from the United States was a threat.

Mexico wouldn't bring the virus to the United States, rather the United States would bring it here," he said at a news conference "The possible flow of coronavirus would come from the north to the south."

"If it were technically necessary, we would consider mechanisms of restriction or stronger surveillance," he said.

Mexico frets about U.S. coronavirus spread, could restrict border

IMO the COVID19 response from Gov. Lamont and his team has been abysmal in terms of preparation, testing (in)adequacy and leadership on key issues such as school closing, cancellations etc.

But, in reading the Executive Order 7 (issued 3/12/2020) I was encouraged to see specific language dealing with limited Nursing Home Visits. The order also limits gatherings to no more than 250 people, waiver of the 180 day school year, DMV renewal issues and Police Academy Attendance Requirement.

https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/Offic...ont-Executive-Orders/Executive-Order-No-7.pdf

Here is the involved language:

Limits on Nursing Home Visitors. Section 19a-550(b)(l2) o f the Connecticut General Statutes, specifically providing that each patient in a nursing home facility, residential care home or chronic disease hospital "may associate ... privately with persons of the patient's choice, including other patients," is hereby modified to provide that the Commissioner of Public Health may issue restrictions on the number, category and frequency of outside visitors and the screening and protective measures as the Commissioner may deem necessary to assure the health and welfare of patients in a nursing home facility, residential care home or chronic disease hospital, provided that nothing in this order or any order by the Commissioner may prohibit a visit, where sufficient protective measures are able to be put in place, from 1) at least one family member, domestic pminer, or other person designated by the patient, each day; [BBM] 2) a patient's attorney, conservator, or any process server related to matters under the jurisdiction of the Probate Court; 3) persons necessary to conduct hearings under the jurisdiction ofthe Probate Court; or 4) a person authorized by law to oversee or investigate the provision of care and services (e.g. ombudsman). Except as provided herein regarding visitors, nothing in this order shall suspend or modify the provisions of Sec. 19a-550(b)(l2) providing the right to communicate privately with persons of the patient's choice, send and receive the patient's personal mail unopened and make and receive telephone calls privately, unless medically contraindicated, as documented by the patient's physician or advanced practice registered nurse in the patient's medical record.

I was comparing what I saw at todays PC to what I think I know about social distancing. every time someone shake hands or touch the microphone I wanted to tell them they should not do that.... especially with millions of people watching.
I believe every person there immediately scrubbed their hands after the PC. Old habits break hard, lol.

Coronavirus: Scottish football suspended until further notice

The Scottish football season has been suspended until further notice amid the coronavirus outbreak, the SPFL has confirmed.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said it was "neither realistic nor possible" to continue with matches.

The postponements begin with Friday's Premiership match between Motherwell and Aberdeen, and Queen of the South against Ayr United in the Championship.

Sunday's Old Firm derby at Ibrox will also not be played.

My OH will be very disappointed about Sunday. I thought they were holding off cancelling until Monday because of this game.

Hi all. Joining this thread. I'm in the UK and it seems to me that the UK and the US are both going down the #DontTestDontKnow route, along with North Korea, Saudi Arabia...and a few others.

I am hearing a lot of people say they cannot get tested, even if they have symptoms...and not just mild symptoms either. It strikes me that South Korea are testing up to 20,000 people a day, but hardly anyone in the US or UK can get a test no matter how hard they try, and no matter what symptoms or contact with infected people they have, whereas people in other nations are being encouraged to test at no cost. What the hell is going on with our two nations?

The hoax is the mass hysteria of continuing to doom and gloom, not the virus, Just as our president said, but unfortunately some people only listen to the opinion news of the world, (CNN, etc). My state gives information, not opinion. We do not use could be, or might be, just the facts. The virus is to be taken serious, just as the flu, but the media as well as social media needs to always make a crisis out of everything. The virus has not disrupted my life, how kind of you to feel sorry for me, but I'm just fine. MOO

It hasn't disrupted your life...yet. keyword: YET

When you know people getting deathly ill and have died you may change your tune. I know two that have died from it now.

So is Italy just panicking?

I'm not talking about Italy. I'm talking about the US. Italy may be or may not be just panicking. I don't know the details of why Italy is anomalous, but I've posted the factors I've read about here. Needless to say, I don't think what may or may not be happening in Italy has any direct bearing on how we'll be impacted in the US.

Wow. So the world is insane? You can take all the precautions in the world and still have someone cough on you if you’re out in public.

This is serious. The CDC has stated we need to practice social distancing of six feet from one another. But not everyone has that option.

Your statement that if H1N1 didn’t kill you this won’t either is illogical. People catch and die of diseases based on contact with the disease and susceptibility. Not based on whether or not they didn’t catch and/or die from another unrelated disease.

And how are people going to order online when everything has to shut down? You think the workers in the factories making and shipping the product and in the shipping companies are immune to the disease?

I will answer all of your questions on May 1. In the meantime: Wash your hands, don't go to crowded places, stay out of people's faces. MOO I'm done with this thread until May 1.

What's going on with our two nations is that we are smart

Why does it matter? Well, for one, he is meeting a lot of people. If he is infected, he should be in isolation, not running around meeting numerous people.
Do you really believe he has not been tested?
He has been a confirmed germaphobe for the last 4 years.
And he NEEDS to meet with a lot of people.
Dr.Fauci is 79 years old.
He is tired and hoarse.
Just based on his age he is high risk.
What would we do if our president and Dr. Fauci layed low?
These are our leaders who need to be on the front lines. It is what it is.
MOO and an extra MOO.

I feel for all of you out there who don't have access to testing, proper PPE in the health care field etc. etc. This just shouldn't happen. Now or ever. Saddens me to think the lessons moving forward are going to cost lives.
