I would think jurors from Orlando would have been the best...and Baez knew it, this requesting out-of-towners. It all depends on the educational level of the jury pool. The higher the education, the more likely a guilty verdict.

They will eliminate by Voir Dire. That covers a lot about the personality and gives an insight into how they lean. They ask everything about family, issues, problems, etc.

This testimony will remain with the court and with the attorneys and they use it during the process of questions to the jurors. One better tell the truth when they reply. Are there many counties near Orlando that has a college and many large companies there? It would be best for SA if they draw from a large city than a small town.

Scott Peterson's trial was changed over here and that was not good for the Defense. Big mistake.

I consider Casey's case even easier that SP's but an intelligent Jury won't hurt. We will be scouting down the demographics when we hear, that's a given...

I don't know where in the State of Florida they think they are going to find jurors that don't know much about this case unless there is a select few that live like ostrich's with their head in the sand.

31 Days Casey! 31 Days!

:great: :great: :great: :great:

No partying or tattoo this time!

Would someone please confirm the trial begins May 9 and not jury selection as is reported by WESH in the last line of this article. http://www.wesh.com/r/27478501/detail.html (see portion of it below)

Before reading that, I was 99.99% certain JP has maintained this trial will begin on May 9 but maybe I'm losing it.

MORE: Extended Coverage

i believe jury selection starts may 9th and opening statements begin may 16th?
so really... the actual trial doesn't start til the 16th

Just now in the hearing - Jury selection starts May 9th. Opening statement will be on May 17th.

many of us in florida are going to our mailboxes or waiting for doorbell to ring with a jury summons perhaps. can you imagine how it would feel to get a jury notice and its that day or week? i would guess anyone who ever blogged, posted, attended hearings, is never going to get picked, but may get a jury notice. i would fall over if i ever got a notice . assume many will be shocked if they do get called for any thing thats jury related. their life will change from that moment they are selected if they are!

nahh i don't even own a computer.. or a phone..

i'd give my left arm to be on that jury if i was a FL resident!

to get a media pass for trial you must be connected to a news station or media outlet. deputy gave me info at courthouse. even though bloggers or authors try they will not get it if not connected as such. they do a background check and need a pic. public will get in first with tickets. when gone thats it. overflow room for media next. although i am published author and write -it would not get me or anyone else in for media pass without a network connection. . i spoke on phone and in person to find out how the seating will be done. i bet some will camp outside all night to get tickets. i also asked if names would be listed with address and phone - he said yes, possible public record. told me just go as public- better chance to get in.
nice idea to say your clueless on case-lol -but by the time they do background check they will know your most private things and will be open to most anything printed when jury member trial. you may be richer but more troubled when you sleep in your dreams.

It would be interesting to know (but we won't) if the defense will ask questions about sexual molestation i.e. have you ever been sexual molested, anyone in your family been a victim, etc. Or how about, have you ever withheld anything from your parents because you were afraid how they'd respond?

omg.. they'll find out that i was the one who started the whole febreze ***** storm

no jury duty for blondegurrl :(

Yes, Judge Perry made it clear today. 31 days, his Court, not t.v., not b.s., Court comes now.

THIRTY ONE and it begins. Yes, Judge P knows the irony, he is on top of it, as he noted a few days ago. (A simple thing he can try to help some along with, and observe.)

(I cannot watch the trial as I work, and cannot stand hearing JB yammer on or DS. Must say, the State does a better job. A REAL Courtroom job.)

This trial starts the week after I graduate from law school.

The Caylee story originally hit the news on the night I bought the books for my first semester in law school in July '08.

What an interesting coincidence.

(and... in the time it has taken Casey to await her trial, she really could have become a lawyer)

Of course, I didn't know then what a HUGE and complicated case this would become, but something drew me into it immediately, I think the FL "sunshine" laws were the final hook that made me addicted. This was a real live case that I could apply to all that theorizing we were doing in school. And this case has it all! There hasn't been a single class I've taken in the last 3 years, that didn't have some element of this case in it. From constitutional law, to criminal procedure, to evidence, to legal ethics, to to trial ad, and even torts!

I think I've learned more about the law from following this case, (and all of you) than I learned in all of law school! Issues arising in this case, and issues you all bring up on here, caused me to do a lot more studying and questioning (and understanding) of the law than I probably would have done otherwise. So... thanks for that!

Now, I'm worried. I should be studying full time for the bar exam after I graduate, and they say this trial could take weeks! It's not hard to guess which one is going to win in the battle for my attention. Maybe I should take the bar in Feb instead.

What kind words! And congratulations!! Don't wait to take the Bar...the world needs more lawyers like you.

Bold mine.

Maybe it shows Caylee being totally ignored by KC as she bats her eyes and hangs onto Tony L.

Or maybe it shows that Tony had NO problem with being around Caylee at all and that any assertion that he is to blame for Caylee's death will be squashed?

May 17, which is a Tuesday. I'm guessing to give everyone time to get settled in their new digs on Mon.

And with the trial looming, the State has released more discovery...this time videos that they'll use at trial. They mentioned the Target video...but also the Cheesecake Factory video...where Tony had taken Casey and Caylee for lunch. I wonder why they're choosing that video?

ETA: http://www.wesh.com/casey-anthony-extended-coverage/27480951/detail.html

Since there was no video listed from Walmart for June 16, do you think that means that they found nothing to support J Thompson's (the computer store owner) story of seeing Casey and Caylee there?

I found his story to be very fishy. Another self-important person who wanted to insert himself with a false sighting, IMO.
