ETA~~ I do think that Cindy and George will have to walk a tightrope every single day they are in that courtroom..I hope for their sake they can, in order to witness all the evidence..but who knows, they both are "Loose Cannons"??

Does JP sentence Casey or does the jury?

Does the jury say "We The Jury sentence Casey M. Anthony to Death/ Life in Prison or does JP do that?

And why is she being immediately sentenced if she is found guilty?

I though in most cases they would come back a few weeks later and the defendant would receive their punishment.

IIRC, the jury will recommend a sentence, but HHJP has the final say. For example, if the jury recommends that Jane Doe get the needle, the presiding judge can give her LWOP instead.

Just wish to add that "Death Penalty Phase" is a separate "Mini-Trial" if the jury finds first degree...and Judge Perry is yes the ultimate decider once the jury gives their opinion..It all depends on how the mitigating factors come in, along with the vote count..and not to mention the evidence that ends up coming into the BOTH Guilt Phase along with Penalty Phase...SO Judge Perry is indeed the "DECIDER"!!!
