I am not sure it was about distracting the men. Rather, I wonder if those were FD details to highlight that all was good between them (no MT moving out) and FD was a satisfied man with this woman rather than his ex so why would he have to kill her. FD built big houses (and an uber big one for his family), spent lots of money on visible things (skiing, waterskiing, big trips) and cars to show everyone how big a man he was. The sex references in the alibi was one more way to highlight his dominance in the field of mere mortal men.
