I don't know why, but I'm always shocked to hear about cellphone records being a major part of the evidence in these types of crimes.
Maybe I read too much on here, watch too much Dateline or watch too much I.D. channel.

I mean I'm glad criminals do things like this. Makes solving crimes and convictions just that much easier. Still surprised that these usually very smart people don't know to leave their cell phone home and/or turn it off and leave it off while committing a crime.

Maybe they think they are just that good at covering a crime scene that they think they will never get caught.

it seems to me murderers often think they are much smarter than they are: one of my favorite programs is "See No Evil" on ID: these morons are caught on surveillance and totally clueless that there could be video of them all over the place. Then of course there are cell phone records that track these idiots everywhere they go- but they fail to take that into consideration while they are committing their dark deeds.

That is incorrect. The article doesn’t not attach ownership to the clothing. Only the blood found on the clothing. Here is a snippet of the article from the Hartford Courrant.

Police: Blood-stained clothing of missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Dulos found in Hartford trash cans, records show husband’s phone was in the area night she disappeared

“Clothing and sponges stained with the blood of missing New Canaan mother Jennifer Farber Dulos were found in trash cans in Hartford, and cellphone records showed the phone of her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, was in the same area the night she disappeared, arrest warrant affidavits released Monday”

Ok. Got it.

If it was their clothes and had Jennifer's blood on it, that would be the nail in the coffin.

I just want to put it out there on the issue of cell service in NC that in certain neighborhoods (mainly further away from town center and on New Caanan Rd/RT 57 I think that service drops. There have been some multiyear and ongoing battles about putting up cell phone towers to make the coverage in certain areas better. I am not sure if the limited number of cell towers makes it easier or harder for LE to track MT and STBX cell activity. But there are dead zones in the area. The main carriers in the area are Verizon and ATT. The last time I checked the coverage maps weren't totally accurate but I will check again as the JD house could be in an area with weak coverage.

I wonder if they panic and with adrenaline just can't think straight. But you would think with TWO of them at least one would think of what they need to do to avoid detection.

But like I said earlier, the kind of people who think murder is going to solve their problems can't be that bright.

Yes, one would think she would have video surveillance to protect herself. Unless he accessed it and destroyed it.
I think most video surveillance today just gets uploaded to the cloud. So it isn't like there's a "tape" to destroy. Even if a camera were destroyed, the evidence would be intact. Unless the camera had been disabled/destroyed before he could be detected on the premises.

I wouldn't be surprised if we find out that not only did FD have his phone on him, but that he took pictures. Sorry, I know that's morbid but with his supposed fantasies of revenge, I wouldn't put it past him.

We just don’t commonly see that in these crimes.

They are based on rage, and he had a specific purpose in mind.

These guys don’t stop to take pictures.

Has this been posted in the media thread or do we need a map thread too?
Interesting question. @otto did some helpful maps on the other thread a couple of days ago. We haven't had too many maps in this case. I just recall the @otto maps and the other one of the Farmington development. Maybe it makes sense to wait and see if we get more info as to the path Bonnie and Clyde took as more maps might help people understand things better. But if we could just move the maps into the top of this thread it seems like that would be helpful for reference for now as there are only 3-4 maps. Does anyone else recall any other maps? This hasn't been a map intensive case so far but my guess is that this will change as we will have Farmington, Hartford and NC and possibly NY and NYC.

Smart thought. If they have him on surveillance and find clothes matching what he was wearing on surveillance, then they can figure it out. But for her, the process of elimination still would not match them to her. It would just tell us who they probably don't belong to.

If she was on surveillance somewhere that morning and clothes that matched her were found discarded, that would work too.

Otherwise, unless someone ID's them, it could be hard to tell.
As a previous member stated, DNA will easily identify owner of the clothing.

3 days ago · Fotis Dulos is the estranged husband of missing Connecticut woman Jennifer Farber Dulos, who vanished in New Canaan on May 24, 2019. He was born in Turkey and grew up in Athens, Greece. He is the founder and CEO of Fore Group Inc. In 2015 he was named Builder of the Year by the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central Connecticut.

I'm sure her attorney has warned her of what's to come. I would hope she's haunted by what has happened and doesn't have a moments peace, but I don't think that's going to be the case. I think she looks angry and covering her head shows arrogance, imo. We all know what she looks like, her face has been plastered all over the media...she's in for a real wake up call if she thinks she can hide. JMO

Oh I just love the questions of the reporters - "Are you gonna' do the right thing Michelle and help the cops?" "Michelle what happened to Jennifer?" "Where's her body, Michelle?" "Why are you covering your face, Michelle?"

Love it.

Here's the link to the map from last night. Hopefully someone with more skill can bring the map over.

No doubt this will be fodder for the defense attorneys down the road.:D

I am just getting home from work, and see there is so much to catch up on.

Although we all knew it, it is heartbreaking reading the evidence. The depravity of it all makes me sick to my stomach. God help those children and the rest of JD's family.

I was just trying to check up on this. It's definitely spotty BUT the one area of consistently good coverage is Waveny Park. If their phones were on, they HAVE to had ping there.

That's the only thing I could think of as well. They become so enraged, so laser focused on that one task that they can't think straight. Kind of like some kind of a drugged "high" I guess. All rational thought processes go away until the "task" is completed. I'm sure once they come off that "high" they start thinking of the little things they messed up on.

Then again, I would think this is more for "in the moment" acts of rage, and not something pre-meditated like this appears to be.
I'm sure this was at least weeks in the planning. Baffles me that two people didn't have enough brain cells for something as minor as a cellphone. Then again, I've never murdered anyone so I don't know how murderers think before and during the act.

Of course I'm glad they didn't. Just baffled is all.

I guess this is the same irrational though process for Derion Vence. His story of 3 guys kidnapping him and 2 kids for several hours, and him on the side of a busy road in broad daylight unconscious with a 1 year old and no one stopped at all and the 1 year old stayed in place the entire time. Lol!

The brain is a wonderful and amazing thing.
