"The only civil rights that have been violated in this matter are my civil rights," Trump argued before a crowd of roughly 2,700 attendees at the Alabama Republican Party summer dinner.

During his roughly 40-minute speech, the former president renewed his attacks on Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, calling him a "deranged, sick person," and accusing federal and local prosecutors, without providing any proof, of "election interference."

"Every one of these many fake charges filed against me by the corrupt Biden DOJ could have been filed two-and-a-half years ago," Trump said. "But they waited and waited until I became a dominant force in the polls."

[...]

Ahead of his appearance, the Trump campaign released a new ad dubbed the "Fraud Squad" which negatively depicts Smith, Willis and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The ad is expected to run nationally, including in Washington, Atlanta and New York, according to a Trump aide.
so sad that Trump can't admit that he lied.
Instead he must demean others who are simply pursuing the law. And he runs ads to siphon off yet more funds from his naive followers.

At this point, rather than tracking the lies, it would be easier to count the number of times he's told the truth. MOO

More detail in this article:

(Oh and hey, remember when he just said it’s a “great honor“ to be indicted….but he can’t ever hide his true indignation).

Huh? Only his civil rights have been violated?

Didn't he just announce "I am being indicted for you."

I guess he was talking to himself when he announced that.

Really hard for me to believe the scam artist has any followers left.

It's the hardest thing I've ever had to believe in my life, and I'm no spring chicken.

But whatever you and I believe, however difficult it is, current polls show him and Biden in a dead heat for the 2024 election.

The good news is I find it easy to believe that the accuracy of polls is overestimated.

BBM. That's why I have never paid any attention to polls.

If Trump wasn't able to win in 2020, even though he wasn't facing any indictments, there is no way he will win in 2024 now that his vast criminal misconduct has been exposed.

It's the hardest thing I've ever had to believe in my life, and I'm no spring chicken.

It’s not good news, but I’m not surprised. There are people on both sides who make poor decisions and take voters for granted. Hopefully they’ll wise up.

Jack Smith appealed to the federal judge for a protective order after the defendant posted "You go after me, I'm coming after you."

Smith states, bbm, “'Such a restriction is particularly important in this case because the defendant has previously issued public statements on social media regarding witnesses, judges, attorneys, and others associated with legal matters pending against him,' Smith wrote in the filing.

'If the defendant were to begin issuing public posts using details — or, for example, grand jury transcripts — obtained in discovery here, it could have a harmful chilling effect on witnesses or adversely affect the fair administration of justice in this case,' he added."

The prosecution proposed two different protective order drafts to Trump’s legal team, both of which they did not agree to, Smith claimed. Trump’s legal team also proposed their version, which the special counsel called inadequate."

Not only could it have a harmful chilling effect on witnesses, but also on potential jurors, imo. And, the words potentially could rile up fans of the defendant to take harmful action.

OMG, this is laughable. imo

"A Trump spokesperson issued a statement defending the former president's social media post.

'The Truth post cited is the definition of political speech, and was in response to the Rino, China-loving, dishonest special interest groups and super PAC's,' the statement said."

And, I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale.

Good point. Could this be considered an attempt to influence potential jurors? Wasn't he instructed not to do that?

jmo
Jurors ...... and prosecutors and witnesses and Judges and their families (he's already brought spouses and children into it too) IMO; this guy is a total disgrace to the USofA. Absolutely unreal.

I wonder what would happen if I were awaiting trial and started posting on SM saying things like, "If you come after me, I'll come after you" and in a speech to a crowd, called the prosecutor deranged. I wonder if I would be banned from using social media and if I would be incarcerated after I repeated behavior I was instructed by the court to avoid.

And interesting question to ponder when some people are repeatedly bleating about a two-tier justice system.

Funny how the defendant seems to post whatever crosses his mind...yet never has shared actual, truthful evidence about election fraud, either in court or elsewhere.

His behavior gives the appearance, imo, that his vindictive thoughts are real, but election fraud is not. jmo

Well as long as he didn't send in the tanks ...

And this bit:
“But what he didn’t do is, you know, send in the tanks, tell Mr. Pence don’t go to Capitol Hill or do anything to obstruct the due process of government.”

But he had his peons go to Capitol Hill Jan 6th, and he certainly had his peons putting on the pressure ... and when that didn't work he told Pence he was "going public" with Pence's refusal to delay the count, ie: threatening him, so much so that Pence's secret service team was made aware in advance that Trump was going to "go public" so that they could bump his secrity detail up and have their heds on swivel for threats to Pence. THEN, of course, their were 45s very own tweets that day ...

...The pressure continued through the night. “If Vice President @Mike_Pence comes through for us, we will win the Presidency,” Trump tweeted around 1 a.m.

“All Mike Pence has to do is send them back to the States, AND WE WIN,” he wrote later that morning. “Do it Mike, this is a time for extreme courage!”
...
During the call in the 11 o’clock hour, Trump berated Pence, chastising him for not being tough enough to go along with the scheme, according to Kellogg’s testimony to the committee.
...
“If Mike Pence does the right thing, we win the election,” Trump falsely told the crowd. “All Vice President Pence has to do is send it back to the states to recertify and we become president and you are the happiest people.”
...

IIRC, there were also Republican Senators who had attended meetings with Trump in the days prior approaching Pence on the 6th to "delay the certification" ... and Guiliani's call to them midst-certification "just get us some more time" ...
