I respectfull disagree with everything you posted. That's kind of messed up to imply that if he wanted to send a message he would have succeeded. Goodness.
Beautiful and insightful comment. All kinds of different problem-solving strategies here and what we learn goes beyond these monstrous and tragic and often inexplicable crimes themselves which JMO need not dismiss or diminish their human toll, but can replenish and sometimes inspire us as a community who can engage the "banality of evil," but with some degree of abstraction, based on scant facts, and as you say, from the perspective of our individual personalities etc. But you said it best, so I won't re-frame those specifics.
We have represented here, all in one place, by the book, just the facts mam "sleuths," classical Sherlock Holmes sleuths, specialists (forensics, LE, finance, psychology, justice system, medicine), visionaries (the "what if...."), writers (let me cast this crime as a piece of creative non-fiction and see where that gets us), actors (let me channel this character, adapt that persona, get into the mind of ...), intuitives (when I close my eyes here's what I see), critics (the problem with/flaw in your theory is...), researchers and scholars, et al.
And in one contributor, we can find multiple skills and approaches. I say, let's be tolerant of all the above approaches as long as we observe TOS, acknowledge not one of us is all-knowing, and "do not harm."

I think the original poster is correct. SS could have yelled help us - we're being held against our will. Sure, it most likely would have resulted in them being killed (which he assumed most likely), but he COULD HAVE done that. By saying he could have succeeded in doing that, does not mean he would have been successful in saving his family - just that he could have yelled for help.
No. I said... Do you think anybody that knew him would have left that money in the car in his garage? That is why I think he had JW do it.
Our pizza places don't require a signature. Home depot doesn't require a signature unless the amount is over I think $50. Neither does Safeway or Giant or Walmart, although the minimums are different. I am I the DC metro, it may be different in other parts of the country.

The owner of Metalfab (aka Metal Fabulous) was not a party in the AIW litigation. I believe the person owns the Fredericksburg and Hyattsville locations. The person you mentioned did own a company related to the metal manufacturing sector. Perhaps DW worked for him but worked on site of Metalfab as Facundo mentioned for another company IMO.
I think we should be cautious about discussing without the approval of a moderator
Do rich people order people differently than poor or middle class people?
I need 2 large pizzas, one cheese, one pepperoni. My child is sick. I won't be able to come to the door. The money/card will be left in an envelope on the porch.
Have we heard Wint speak? Have we heard the two women being investigated as being involved speak? I think Wint's father is well spoken from the statement that was issued.
Home Depot and Walmart deliver food? I've never heard of that. I can order a home item from Home Depot and have it sent to the closest store and I still have to show I.D. For Pizza, they buzz and you have to go to the door and sign for it.

<modsnip> You can go into MANY stores, use your credit card, and not be asked to sign if the amount if lower than a certain requirement.
Agreed. Thanks for reminder. I did think mods mentioned that unless a person was listed on court document or LE SW, and we KNEW (through press) LE had person on the radar, we should not entertain scenarios assuming they are suspect. HOWEVER, that's my take on what mod said, and no way do I interpret that as meaning a WS-er should not ask questions about facts, challenge as logical fact anything anyone has said about the victims to the press. And I am not raising any personal objection (which would hold no weight here if I did). She's not listed on any of the SWs as far as we know... Many more must be under seal.
Maybe I missed info on the safe...
Do we know the manufacturer? Was it a gun safe?
Do we know when it was installed? During the remodel/ garage enlargement?
Do we know who delivered it? Common carrier, like Estes, Conway, or Old Dominion? Or by the contractor? Or was it delivered by the store where it was purchased? If delivered by the store, did they use day laborers for these types of jobs or use subcontractors?
Do we know if DDW ever worked as a day laborer with a company like Labor Ready?
I know structurally the safe had to be on the garage slab, but the visibility from the street...bothers me.

One of the first questions asked in a home invasion of a rich family is
Where's the safe?
So who knows how much in total that DW got. I think he sent some home and was planning to board a plane soon.
Now if he snitches on others than that is like pleading guilty. With a case like this you are still getting 4 life sentences.
So don't expect any naming of accomplices. He is one of a kind. He doesn't mind going down by himself as long as others take care of his family here and abroad.

I can order a home item online from Home Depot, pay for it with a credit card and have it sent to the store so I don't have to pay shipping charges. I must show I.D. when I pick it up. This is also true of Walmart and Target.
If a pizza shop owner wants to allow people to charge pizzas to a credit card over the phone and not require a signature, the business owner is taking a huge risk because the charge can later be challenged with one's cc provider. Frankly, I think any owner is a fool if such a practice is allowed but then, I'm one of those people who has had bogus charges on my credit cards.
