Right back at you Mom!

@Nikki - yes, tongue-in-cheek - :whistle:

I respectfull disagree with everything you posted. That's kind of messed up to imply that if he wanted to send a message he would have succeeded. Goodness.

I think the original poster is correct. SS could have yelled help us - we're being held against our will. Sure, it most likely would have resulted in them being killed (which he assumed most likely), but he COULD HAVE done that. By saying he could have succeeded in doing that, does not mean he would have been successful in saving his family - just that he could have yelled for help.

Beautiful and insightful comment. All kinds of different problem-solving strategies here and what we learn goes beyond these monstrous and tragic and often inexplicable crimes themselves which JMO need not dismiss or diminish their human toll, but can replenish and sometimes inspire us as a community who can engage the "banality of evil," but with some degree of abstraction, based on scant facts, and as you say, from the perspective of our individual personalities etc. But you said it best, so I won't re-frame those specifics.
We have represented here, all in one place, by the book, just the facts mam "sleuths," classical Sherlock Holmes sleuths, specialists (forensics, LE, finance, psychology, justice system, medicine), visionaries (the "what if...."), writers (let me cast this crime as a piece of creative non-fiction and see where that gets us), actors (let me channel this character, adapt that persona, get into the mind of ...), intuitives (when I close my eyes here's what I see), critics (the problem with/flaw in your theory is...), researchers and scholars, et al.
And in one contributor, we can find multiple skills and approaches. I say, let's be tolerant of all the above approaches as long as we observe TOS, acknowledge not one of us is all-knowing, and "do not harm."
A smorgasbord means you get to skip the dishes you don't have a taste for, and indulge in those you prefer.
Felicity Lemon, your post could serve as a credo for many forums in many fields.
I will master this "quick reply" thing soon!

Bowing down again to the great Emmavoberry:)

BrownRice...you made me recall a post on DCUM. Someone mentioned that when they listen to Savva's voicemail left on housekeeper phone it sounded like PS screaming, " no, she is not!" after SS states AS was sick in bed.

No. I said... Do you think anybody that knew him would have left that money in the car in his garage? That is why I think he had JW do it.

I bet the accountant would not have.

Our pizza places don't require a signature. Home depot doesn't require a signature unless the amount is over I think $50. Neither does Safeway or Giant or Walmart, although the minimums are different. I am I the DC metro, it may be different in other parts of the country.

Home Depot and Walmart deliver food? I've never heard of that. I can order a home item from Home Depot and have it sent to the closest store and I still have to show I.D. For Pizza, they buzz and you have to go to the door and sign for it.

The owner of Metalfab (aka Metal Fabulous) was not a party in the AIW litigation. I believe the person owns the Fredericksburg and Hyattsville locations. The person you mentioned did own a company related to the metal manufacturing sector. Perhaps DW worked for him but worked on site of Metalfab as Facundo mentioned for another company IMO.

I think we should be cautious about discussing without the approval of a moderator:)

I never mentioned or identified any owners of any of the various companies of the variations on the name or which company (Metal Fab, Metal-Fab Inc, Metal FAB(ulous)Inc or Metal Fabulous Inc) DDW actually worked at in 2008. That is what we are trying to figure out...which of these companies did he really work for and for how long....as well as if that means he continued, in some capacity, working with at SS business entity.

Do rich people order people differently than poor or middle class people?

I need 2 large pizzas, one cheese, one pepperoni. My child is sick. I won't be able to come to the door. The money/card will be left in an envelope on the porch.

Have we heard Wint speak? Have we heard the two women being investigated as being involved speak? I think Wint's father is well spoken from the statement that was issued.

I actually find this interesting. I never thought about it before. "This is Elvis Presley. I would like to order 2 pepperoni pizzas with peanut butter.":) How DO the wealthy or famous order pizza?

<modsnip> You can go into MANY stores, use your credit card, and not be asked to sign if the amount if lower than a certain requirement.

Maybe I missed info on the safe...
Do we know the manufacturer? Was it a gun safe?
Do we know when it was installed? During the remodel/ garage enlargement?
Do we know who delivered it? Common carrier, like Estes, Conway, or Old Dominion? Or by the contractor? Or was it delivered by the store where it was purchased? If delivered by the store, did they use day laborers for these types of jobs or use subcontractors?

Do we know if DDW ever worked as a day laborer with a company like Labor Ready?

I know structurally the safe had to be on the garage slab, but the visibility from the street...bothers me.

I apologize Just K. You did not. I am still trying to figure out the WS website. I was responding to the post you were responding to.

Agreed- I live in the DC area, and Walmart, Trader Joe's, and other places don't make you sign or show ID under $50. I've also ordered Dominos and other pizza online and I've never had to sign or show ID if I pick it up or it gets delivered. If it gets delivered, I've had to sign the receipt to add tip but my guess if that if a tip is out on the porch, a delivery driver probably wouldn't be too concerned, especially if that address or credit card has ordered in the past (which, IIRC, they had).

She's not listed on any of the SWs as far as we know... Many more must be under seal.
Agreed. Thanks for reminder. I did think mods mentioned that unless a person was listed on court document or LE SW, and we KNEW (through press) LE had person on the radar, we should not entertain scenarios assuming they are suspect. HOWEVER, that's my take on what mod said, and no way do I interpret that as meaning a WS-er should not ask questions about facts, challenge as logical fact anything anyone has said about the victims to the press. And I am not raising any personal objection (which would hold no weight here if I did).
I hope to heavens more SWs are under seal and that every stone is being turned up. I'd be surprised to learn NG was involved in any aspect of the crime, but hey, I have been surprised in the past.
My first thought when news broke was angry husband went after worker-wife who was intending to leave him and then just killed everyone.
I never claimed to be a good amateur detective. I worked under a deputy probation officer (and also for some veteran retired LE including one with a PHD in crim., and police academy chief) and one thing I learned was that the so-called "gut" or "instinct" is not developed over night or by reading about crime. Mine got better, but better didn't equal reliable.

There is more than 1 safe according to the SW return.

One of the first questions asked in a home invasion of a rich family is

Where's the safe?

So who knows how much in total that DW got. I think he sent some home and was planning to board a plane soon.

Now if he snitches on others than that is like pleading guilty. With a case like this you are still getting 4 life sentences.

So don't expect any naming of accomplices. He is one of a kind. He doesn't mind going down by himself as long as others take care of his family here and abroad.

I can order a home item online from Home Depot, pay for it with a credit card and have it sent to the store so I don't have to pay shipping charges. I must show I.D. when I pick it up. This is also true of Walmart and Target.

If a pizza shop owner wants to allow people to charge pizzas to a credit card over the phone and not require a signature, the business owner is taking a huge risk because the charge can later be challenged with one's cc provider. Frankly, I think any owner is a fool if such a practice is allowed but then, I'm one of those people who has had bogus charges on my credit cards.

I always thought they were going to drive the Amerit truck down I-95 to Miami, take a boat to some island, and either stay there or go back to Guyana. Nobody on 95 would look twice at that truck. Always racing trucks ferrying cars/ mechanics/crews on 95. Perfect camouflage to get out of DC.

Of course you have to show ID - it is already paid for.

Just because someone signs the CC machine or receipt does not mean that it is the rightful owner and charges can't be challenged. My Mom used to refuse to sign the back of her credit cards and wrote instead "Please ask for ID". However, no one ever looked at the card. I can remember one time in the past 10 years where a store has asked for my ID when using my card. And I use my card for everything. I haven't used cash since I don't know when.

Most times, things are swiped at the counter anymore. I let my friend's kid sign the machine because she thinks it's fun...LOL!! The joys of being 10 I guess.

I doubt Dominos was worried about an order of 2 pizzas to a very wealthy neighborhood.

No clue where I fit? Maybe a new category for extremely impatient? When will we get more news? Really enjoy all the rehash and discussion but patience is not my forte. MOO.

I'm sorry guys and gals. But if the driver left 40 large without confirmation of receipt.

How in the world can we speculate Dominos leaving $20 in pizza at the door.

Lol. Come on now.

So if you expect Dominos to make sure pizza was delivered in hand to the payee.

Then hopefully you think the same about the 40 large.

A $20 pizza order will not put a pizza company on alert to check for mis doings.

But that 40k dropped off in car seems to be ok.

The pizza drop is normal to me. But the 40 large drop. Is way more suspicious.
