I know I am really tired tonite...but could someone explain to me about the 3 rocks? I must have missed something.
The Channel 9 legal analyst who viewed the video was asked if there was any similarity about the two places that Casey was probing (the woods, and a seemingly-abandoned house nearby).

His response was, “The point of interest at both of these locations seemed to be a configuration of three rocks or three stones in the soil. And it seemed that that was his point of reference in his search.”

It's about 1min 20sec into the raw video.

I can try. The legal analyst who saw the Hoover tape says that the PI's were shown at 2 locations, the "crime scene" (or very close) and a deserted back yard. Apparently, both were sought out by Casey because of having some configuration of three rocks. This suggests the three rocks were markers, or part of directions he was given to get to the right place. He had Hoover video them in one location, I think. That might suggest showing the film to someone to see if he was getting warm. I'm tired, too, so sorry if that makes no sense.

Maybe I'm naive to ask this question...

Why would Baez want the PIs to film the discovery of Caylee's body?

Hypothetically, if a person confessed to their attorney, he might want to confirm it, or see if the body is likely to be found, or whether the body was decomposed by now, or some sort of investigation. Maybe to know what was out there in deciding whether to take a plea bargain in exchange for the location of the body. It would be risky to send people there, but I can conceive of reasons. The more ethically challenged might do more. I guess taping would provide information to whoever had requested the search. Supposedly Hoover turned over other tapes and they were destroyed. To whom?

Not only was he searching, but the search was being filmed! He had tools with him to probe into the soil and a shovel to dig. Shaeffer mentions him slicing open bags, so he may have had a knife or scissors.

If he had actually come across Caylee's remains - it would have been caught on film. It was as if he wanted to film the actual discovery of her body!

Excellent point...and I think you might be right. We'll know better when we get to see the video. Hopefully next week?

He wouldn't. PI Casey had been off Baez' payroll for six weeks at that point. By then, he was allegedly working for the Anthony family, along with PI Hoover who has claimed to be a volunteer for the family (maybe he responded to their myspace no-pay job ads).

I don't think the Anthony family would be any more interested in having a video of Caylee's body than Baez would be.

I think this may have been engineered by Dominic Casey as a potential revenue and fame-building stunt. Imagine if he'd pulled it off and actually was the guy who Found Caylee - what fame! what fortune! would be his.

But he didn't pull it off, and now he's become a figure of suspicion and notoriety - no doubt it's not exactly what he had in mind for his 15 minutes of fame.

Here's my question - how much lead time would he have needed in order to issue a puff-piece press release on November 29th?

Was it in the works before he started sticking pointy metal objects in the ground, looking for a little girl's dead body?

DianeB, so you are saying that PI Casey was told where the body was when he did work for Baez. Then waits 6 weeks to go digging for her. He expects to find her and get it on film. Then he immediately dials 911 to say "I just found Caylee" (possibly even filming the call). Then he expects to sell that film.

Is that what you were thinking?

I don't think PI Casey got his information in September when he was still working for Baez.

I think he got it while he was hanging around the Anthony family. From whom, though?

The Anthony family has no love for Baez (particularly George), and I don't think they would tell Baez anything. In his defense, if I were Baez I wouldn't want to know.

Do we know what was in the buried bag from the backyard? Could it be the clothes Casey was saying they hadn't even found yet? Possibly buried there to throw off the scent?

I missed this information about the bag being buried in the back yard?
when did this happen? and when was it found? in this last December search?

TIA!

That is about a bag found by PI Casey in an area that looked like an abandoned homestead. It was probably near the crime scene itself. The bag contained yard trash.

DianeB, if KC acted alone then the exact location of Caylee was only known to her. She could only pass on that info by way of Baez or talking when she was out on bond.

The only alternative is that someone came across the body while searching (with no tip) and left it there - and then went on to tell other(s). I can't yet rule out the MR for that.

i wonder if the three rocks/stones might have been in a shamrock shape.

I thought this map of the back yards in the area was interesting. The lines are the property lines. Some of them look like they extend back almost to the crime scene.

Well, that didn't work, so I'll just give the URL

It will be very interesting to learn with whom PI Casey was speaking on the phone -
obviously he wasn't getting directions from Miss Anthony!

For all we know, Casey revealed the location of little Caylee's body to her brother in the privacy of her own home while she was out on bail.

Or to her father. I don't think Cindy would be likely to sit on that kind of information, but the Anthony menfolk might.

At some later point that information may have been divulged - intentionally or accidentally (after all, he's supposed to be a PI) to Dominic Ace Ventura Casey.

He, looking out for number one, ran with it.

Thanks! That explains it just fine.

And thanks to you, too! That explains it ever better! ;)

OT: Good to see you!

This is a very good source of info re: the PI search but combined with KB's 14 min interview with Hoover's lawyer (link below..last box-bottom right--raw interview with PI) this whole mission becomes that much clearer..It provided details the legal analyst skipped or more likely didn't know?

Such as:

DC had numerous cell phones with him during the 2 day search with Hoover.

There's much more tape (turned over to DC?) leaving Hoover with just that 10 mins of film.

Many times Hoover's lawyer said he couldn't answer (because of the investigation) & that always reeks of PAY attention! This is IMPORTANT stuff! & Hoover's facial expression (grin) during those times confirms this POV.

DC is nicknamed "Man with the Secrets". Excellent analytical skills coupled with a sense of curiousity is how he describes a good PI. Wow and it was released after the searches in the woods. I have no clue!
:bang:

I wonder if we will ever get to see this video or if the description is as close as we will ever get?

I want to know where the "abandoned house" is and what it looks like.

I wonder what the people who owned the house thought when they discovered someone had slashed open their garbage?

OT...I am giggling so much over us all falling for the thread that was just shut down. In any other case, we wouldn't have believed it, but we fell hook, line and sinker.
