Ya, what ELSE have they been exposed to by her throughout the years? I mean not everything is on video. SMH
My eldest participates in a local B&GC after school program at her middle school. Recently a friend of the program director filmed a video for Nickelodeon focusing on physical fitness, and many of the kids participated. My daughter didn't, because I've modified her photo release (her image may NOT be used with her name, because we've been in hiding from her biological father since she was 18 months old and he was prosecuted for DV and child abuse).
She calls it "publicity issues" and tries to resiliently laugh it off, without revealing the why, because kids can be mean, and it's no one's business. All it will take it someone posting her name and pic and our fragile cover is blown. The kids all have school issued Chromebooks now, so my level of worry is through the roof. But I digress.
Any child whose parent signed the general photo release didn't sign an additional permission slip. They only heard about it IF their kid bothered to tell them. I only heard about it because she was upset that she felt SO left out and was being teased by a few not-so-nice kids.
I met with the Program Director that afternoon. He tried to minimize the whole thing. Looking back now (especially in light of what happened in Hawaii), these things shouldn't be allowed to happen without expressed written permission of each child's parent/legal guardian!

I reminded my daughter on that day that everything happens for a reason. Once she found out she wasn't the only kid there who couldn't be filmed, she was A-OK.
That's my girl! Bullies are everywhere, and in all honesty, the longer I can keep her off of social media (she's 11), the better. :moo:
As parents, we can never assume anything. I forwarded the link to HawaiiNewsNow (about the DeLos Santos debacle) to our Program Director. I hope he takes it as the cautionary tale it is. That could've been him (and it still may be once that Nickelodeon video hits the airwaves / interwebs).
