I wonder was this worker there when he was there the first time or was the worker there after he was admitted and had full blown ebola.

It is going to be interesting to see how this patient does with full blown, as good as it gets, medical care from the start.

Yes I just saw that breaking news......terribly sad for the health worker, especially if they contracted it when Duncan first went in there.....that seems very unfair and makes me angry at the irresponsibility.....

They haven't said how this person got it...........if not from the first visit, then that is mighty scary if they were all protected when dealing with him.... and now of course there is the threat to all of those others that this person may have treated (yes I know it only is contagious when the fever hits, but I don't totally trust that) and of course this persons family...

What I think now needs to happen is that there needs to a team on rotation that treat this new case and these people don't go home, they stay in isolation until this person is cured or dies and then for the 21 period afterwards.............and I'd pay them a lot more money!!!!! but the cycle needs to be broken in Dallas and that is the only way to be sure it will...

Hope this new case survives...it's all very sad
BBM I don't think the experts fully trust it either. This DR was monitoring his temp and self reported immediately. They are already stressing about finding all his contacts. jmo

I'm wondering if they'll get transferred to another hospital, like Emory, since that hospital in Texas looks like it needs a big review of protocols. So much for any hospital in America being ready to deal with Ebola. I expected another case in Texas but not a healthcare worker. Didn't see that coming.

Live presser... HLN.
Does this guy sound scared? No confidence in his tone at all!

Oh snap!
ER is now on diversion due to "staffing".

The health care worker at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, who was not identified in the statement, provided care for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first Ebola patient in the United States, who died last week.

Officials said the health care worker reported a low grade fever Friday night and was isolated and referred for testing. Preliminary test results were received late Saturday.

Ebola spreads through close contact with a symptomatic person's bodily fluids, such as blood, sweat, vomit, feces, urine, saliva or semen.

From this it seems the worker was there while he was there the second time.

bbm When I worked in a cleanroom setting years ago, (<10,000 particles per sq ft) saliva was referred to as spittle. We wore the full suit, booties, head covering, goggles and face mask, although it was for the protection of the product not us. So with that said it appears to me that this is or will be airborne soon. I didn't think I would use that word again. spittle. jmo idk

Is it just me and lack of caffeine, or does Judge Jenkins look a little clammy and scared?

They did a reverse 911 call over a 4 block radius? A pet in the apartment will be cared for. Car Patient drove in decontaminated...

How about Australia are all the hospitals ready there?

Despite talks with nations including the UK, US and throughout Europe, Australia had been unable to ensure a treatment or evacuation plan for its personnel should they be sent to west Africa, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said.

bbm Australia isn't really ready either.

Looks like he saw a ghost.
This worker used all precautions and they are VERY concerned.

So the healthcare worker was involved in the care on the 2nd visit. How is it that a worker who presumably took precautions contracted the disease, but the people who were living in the same home with him haven't gotten the virus. It's very weird.
