Which was prompted by the dispatcher asking what race Martin is, which was not included.

Yes, I see that now. That's bad.

On the other hand, I've only listened to the 911 call when it was released and it was the whole call so I heard it for myself. Anyone who hasn't have the time to actually listen to the whole call and they were getting their information from NBC, I will say that's bad!

They edited the part out where Zimmerman says Trayvon is walking in the rain and looking like he's on drugs and only aired only the part where Zimmerman says "he looks black?" Am I understanding this correctly?

I think they made it sound like GZ volunteered that TM was black by editing out the question being asked to him by the dispatcher? So, yeah, everyone edits, but it sounds like they did not edit in a responsible, clear, ethical manner. imo

I don't think I would have picked up on that, since GZ is calling in a report and I'd expect that information to be given.

I think, "This guy looks like he's up to no good; he looks black," has a pretty clear intended connotation.

Thank you all for helping me understand because for some reason, it went completely over my head? I was having flashbacks of NG playing over and over and over again certain parts of calls and I was like "What?"

He was an administrative assistant to the judges.

This is about a 17 year old male being killed and his killer being set free without the truth of the situation being known. PERIOD.

Assuming the police don't have a case I would not think it was uncommon for the suspect to be released pending further investigation. It doesn't mean he won't be arrested at a later date if the investigation warrants it.

I am glad someone else saw this....it was absurd (IMO) the way he talked to Piers...I did not see the very end and can only hope Piers took him down a notch...I kept thinking young whippersnapper,lol, IMO.

My son [23] and his gf came over for dinner tonight and I was in the kitchen watching Piers show and they were going to change it and I said 'wait, I want to see this part about Trayvon.'

So they watched it too. My future daughter-in-law-to-be LOVES Toure. And even she thought he was being a jerk. She said he seemed really closed minded and rude and she did not like the way he acted towards Piers at all.

He was very condescending and tried to reprimand him and even belittled him, imo. I think that is the wrong way to go about this thing.

It might have been. I had O'Reilly playing earlier and he was very serious and said he was either very concerned or fearful of where this is all leading. His words frightened me, the panther group frightens me and anyone that supports violence frightens me.

And if the roles were reversed, I would suspect NBC would do the same thing to TM that they did to GZ.

as opposed to the REAL sequence of events, that he was ASKED what he looked like. Big difference.

I said this last night, I think everyone, from both sides, should go on Craig Ferguson. He's not afraid to ask anything. I love that man!

And how would the police know that they don't have a case? Did they interview all of the potential witnesses that night? Did they have a CSI team come in and inspect the area? Or did they just take the word of the man that killed the 17 year old male and say ok, you're good to go? Anytime a person is shot, it is my opinion that the shooter should be placed under arrest until a complete investigation is done to determine if it was self-defense or an unlawful act. Perhaps if the police had used the logic that a lot of people have, and completed a complete investigation before claiming that Zimmerman acted in self-defense then we would not have this uproar and the issues that the Sanford PD is facing now.

That's what I thought.

At one time I worked for a part-time magistrate judge who was a full time attorney for an insurance company. So administrative judge is more accurate. Administrative assistant is usually a clerk and clerks are not usually attorneys. None I've ever seen. jmo

He was a magistrate Judge. Kind of like a Judge in training similar to Joran's late dad from what I read.:floorlaugh:

I guess the way the law reads is they are to be released until there is enough evidence to prove it was not self defense. jmo

And those types of edits are added to the choice of pictures the media used. They ALWAYS use his 8th grade football picture and him as an 8th grader as opposed to more current pictures as a 6 ft 3 17 yr old. And then they use the old mugshot of GZ instead of the more recent business headshot in a suit.
