Above the Law has posted FBI notes of an interview conducted 6/28/16 with a friend of KM's:
http://abovethelaw.com/2016/08/the-dan-markel-case-a-notable-new-document/ A few notable things from the interview:
1. According to the friend, KM and CA dated from late 2013 to early 2015. (DM's murder was in July 2014.)
2. The friend says KM worked for a dental office in South Beach, which is where she met CA, who "frequently worked there." KM worked at the front desk and did "insurance verification." Note that the As' office (
http://floridasmilemaker.com/) is in Tamarac, which is not near South Beach. A quick search, however, shows that CA is or was affiliated with several other dental offices around Miami, including this one in South Beach:
http://jwiz.com/business/dr-charles-adelson-dmd-ms-periodontist-63839.html Assuming this information is correct, it appears that KM may
not have worked in the main A dental office along with CA's (and WA's) parents.
3. The reason KM and CA broke up was that Garcia was jealous of CA, and made violent threats to CA.
4. It appears that KM and Rivera knew each other; KM attended a party at Rivera's brother's residence. (Recall that the cops' photo collage showing the relationships between the various players described KM and Rivera as "friends.")
Above the Law floats various scenarios where Garcia and Rivera killed DM, but not at the direction of CA (or not via KM) -- but then dismisses those (correctly, IMO) as highly implausible. I've yet to hear any coherent theory from any defender of the As as to who actually killed DM, and why. (Yes, yes, the burden is on the prosecution, not the defense, in any trial, but I'm not a juror, and it's perfectly logical for me, as a human being, to want to know the defense's story, and to find it suspicious that they don't have a plausible one.)
