Here's some on Chasity Starr from the News-Journal archives:

Starr is listed at 5-feet-10 and 110 pounds with brown hair typically pulled back in a ponytail. She was last seen Jan. 15 at the Ridgewood Inn. Her mother, Candy Starr, brought food to her room that night. Rogers was of similar height but weighed closer to 150-160.

Starr had a "very prominent large star" on the inside of her left wrist. Her MySpace profile showed others, including a butterfly tattooed on the back of her neck.

Suspected Port Orange rapist now linked to 2 murders

The body of 27-year-old Chastity Starr was found buried in the back yard of suspected rapist James Lee Maxwell in Port Orange.

He is now linked to her death as well as that of Pamela Will, who was missing since September 2010.

"Our records have revealed that Chastity Starr was killed on or about Jan. 15, 2011. He then buried Chastity's body in the back yard of his residence," said Port Orange Police Chief, Gerald Monahan.

So, if he killed two women, it's possible that he also killed Laurel. But, as far as we know, she was not a prostitute. But he didn't live all that far from her. It makes one wonder if her body is still out there somewhere.

Laurel was mentioned in the following thread that is why I also posted the information about James Lee Maxwell here. Also Chas

Chasity Starr was also mentioned on this thread, that is what brought me here.

On Google Maps, you can see a photo of the home. There are a few lawn chairs by the garage door. The garage is very dark and is open. There is a sidewalk, too. It creeped me out. That man could have snatched any number of women right off the street as they strolled past his house.

This is the first I have heard about the surveillance video of Laurel Rogers. Clearly, she didn't walk that far from home. She looks a little ragged in some of those mugshot photos. And how did she fall in a way that caused scars on both of her wrists?

JMHO, but her "ragged appearance" is from steroids and her lupus/fibro. steroids typically cause "moon face" and puffiness, and that is just one of the common medicines that people with lupus take. even if she wasn't actively taking it, it would have a lasting side effect. I really can't imagine someone with her illnesses walking off without their medications...it would be like having a broken foot and deciding to walk off without your crutches. My heart goes out to her and her family.

A Volusia County family held a special ceremony Wednesday night to remember a loved one who vanished more than four years ago...

Lauretta pays Laurel’s cell phone bill every month and calls it, even though it goes straight to voicemail, to hear her daughter’s voice.

“I call her and leave her messages, and hope someday she can hear them all.”

There’s a $15,000 reward for information leading to Laurel’s whereabouts.

Thursday, a vigil was held in the missing woman’s honor. Family members say they will keep searching for her.

Police say the case is still active and investigators have received a couple tips recently.

"Any little piece of information helps and that’s a big part of why we do this," Pennington said. "We miss her and we love her, but we want her home and we don’t want to do it alone."

The case is still open and there is a $30,000 reward.

Twelve years later, Lauretta refuses to lose hope.

Laurel’s photos decorate her walls, even her room has been kept the same, but the pain of not know knowing what happened her daughter hasn’t faded.

"We weren’t only mom and daughter… we were best friends too," Lauretta said.

Laurel went missing on February 1, 2010. Her family says she planned to go out for a bit that night.

The family says someone came to the house to pick Laurel up, but they don’t know who that person is. Her brother was home at the time.

"She ended up getting ready to leave. I said bye to her. She said bye. Only had her purse with her. Definitely intentions on coming right back," explained Laurel’s brother, John Peterson.

The family says they believe Laurel met a friend near the Cabbage Patch next, a biker bar in Daytona Beach.

"That was where her last cell phone ping came from," said Laurel’s sister, Leah Davis.

What happened to her after that is still unknown.

Laurel’s mom says she suffered from lupus and took her medicine religiously, but she left all of it at home.

Her family also says her chronic pain led to an addiction to pills, and they believe drugs may have to do with her disappearance.

"Someone knows where she’s at," Lauretta said.

Details of Disappearance

Rogers was last seen home in the 1000 block of Horizon View Boulevard in Port Orange, Florida between 5:20 and 6:00 p.m. on February 1, 2010. Her brother went into the backyard and when he returned, Rogers was gone. Her brother thought one of her friends had picked her up either at the residence itself or at a nearby convenience store.

At 6:43 p.m., one of Rogers's friends got a suspicious call from her cellular phone. A man named Jamal spoke to her. According to the signal, the phone was in New Port Richey, Florida at the time. Rogers's phone was never used again and has since been turned off. She has never been heard from again. She left all her medication behind at home.

Rogers has been known to frequent Daytona Beach, Florida in areas known for drug activity, and to use and sell prescription drugs. Her mother stated that when Rogers's prescription medications could not ease her chronic pain, she sometimes bought drugs on the street.

Since her disappearance, Rogers hasn't filled any of her prescriptions or used her bank account. Her mother said they were close and kept in regular contact before her disappearance.

At the time of her disappearance, Rogers was on probation for a 2009 theft conviction. She had no prior criminal record and her probation period was scheduled to end in 2012. She is classified as an absconder in addition to being a missing person.

It's uncharacteristic of her to leave without warning and she is believed to be at risk due to the state of her health. Her case remains unsolved.

I'm curious if the time frame is accurate. That's a three hour trip her phone made in just over an hour. Someone is not accurate about either the time she was last seen or the phone call time. Sounds fishy.

Or the phone was not in her possession anymore. Still strange that an unknown man would call one of her friends
