What is your idea for combating Islamic Extremist terrorism?

Agreed.

There are some who cannot be reasoned with by peaceful means.

I am feeling so sickened by what happened to those poor souls at Orlando.
Based on the places unhinged types like O.M. go to, or websites they visit-- some people like him need to be profiled. Even if doing so 'steps on people's toes'.
Sounds like there were some warning signs about his instability.

The blood of those innocent club goers demands justice.

Mostly of interest to myself is what specifically might have helped to push the killer to commit these acts ? A sermon at a mosque ? A website filled with anger and promoting violence ?
Maybe some places or sites need to be shut down ?
I realize in saying this it's not politically correct at all. Not trying to offend --- but if O.M. was further enraged and driven by what he saw,heard or listened to ; it might help prevent another attack.

One regular at the club said he'd seen Mateen, whose father claimed he was very homophobic, at least a dozen times there before the massacre.

'Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself,' Ty Smith, who also uses the name Aries, told the Sentinel Monday.

'Other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent,' he added.

Remarks that Mateen drank heavily conflict with his apparently strict adherence to his Muslim faith, including regular worship at a mosque in his home town of Port St. Lucie - where he was quiet and kept to himself.

Smith said he'd seen Mateen at Pulse 'at least a dozen times', joining three others who said they'd seen the shower at the club before.

Classmate Samuel King said Mateen was not homophobic when he knew him in the year after their 2004 graduation.

'What is shocking to me is that the majority of the staff at Ruby Tuesday's when I worked there were gay,' he said.

'He clearly was not anti-(gay), at least not back then. He did not show any hatred to any of us. He treated us all like the individuals we were. He always smiled and said hello.'

King, who characterized Mateen as friendly and talkative, said: 'Something must have changed.'

That would be amazing if we could find out if that was true. Why would one drive all that way to be in a gay bar, and end up being miserable.

I say it again, that is what happens , when (same with Bible stuff/ complete family rejection - become homeless in 15 minutes when trying to come out to family) rejection of one what is , not by choice.

It is identical to being rejected cause you have blue eyes. none of this is a "choice" .

What does one do , sitting a room , surrounded by a bunch of people, who are drinking, dancing, content with who they are, laughing, and he can not do that cause of shame.

What can be done in entertaiment situations like this one to immediately let people know they are in imminent danger?
It was commendable that the Pulse club put the word out to run, but what else can be done?
Turn off the music, the lights, drop a net from the ceiling on everyone?
Turn a firehose on him, blind him with light, blast a siren?
Assign security to man the dj or communication booths, so that they could immediately relay the warning and music/light shutdown or turn on?
How best to survive when a madman is on the loose in a contained, noisy space?

Being born in America, but raised in a family where the father seems delusional, stating he is President of Afghanistan, does not bode with American standards. (The father was stating his Presidency in an article or video. I have read too much to link it).

The result is exactly what we have seen, a young man who is totally mixed up on where his allegiance is. I believe the more we learn about him, we will learn he was a smart kid, with odd behavior, an attitude, and smart mouth.

I'm sorry, I'm not explicitly attacking you. I'm extremely upset by this situation. I have ties to the gay and drag community, I have a trans loved one while living in NC (huge sigh), I grew up in Florida and I lived in Orlando for a while. I also own a handgun, for the record.

Assault rifles are already illegal to own. He did not have an assault rifle. He had a .223 semi-automatic. I don't believe fully automatic rifles should be legal and never said so either.
