Sadly, from reports of the condition that Paul's sister was in when she was rescued from that monster, I don't know if there's really much hope for Paul :(

And 80 days served for her abuse, isn't that something. Interesting to note that had SB been serving her full ten years, she wouldn't have been free to kidnap Shannon.

I would really like to know what type of mental disability the baby's mother has, what meds she is taking/or not. This could play very heavily in determining whether she was truly involved in the planning or if SB was able to manipulate her into going along with the plot. Those with mental disabilities, including Alzheimers can easily be manipulated into doing things that are not right - makes them feel like they are a part of the grand plan and that they are accepted. I hope we get more information on this.

I would bet my life (and I don't do so often) that SB manipulated Shannon's mother. My opinion, SB is a snake in the grass.

Still on page 1 of this thread, just wanted to say Good Morning to you all!

I just watched last nights press conference and Shannon is ADORABLE! Glad her grandmother was able to be there for that!

Did you see the way Shannon reached for the one aunt? How sweet was that??

The lady you are talking about said her name was Erica .. I wonder if she is the one tina was living with before??? On that letter to Governor a Erica and Michael was mentioned... That lady was probably only person Little Shannon knew in the whole room...

So happy for Shannon and her family...

Maybe, just maybe when S Baker goes to prison, someone will beat the truth out of her about where Paul's little body is located...I can't help but think James the husband, must have had a hand in this right along with SueB. When EAST COAST brought to EVERYONE"S attention the connection to this case, I wondered how the hubby could have married, or stayed with a woman who was responsible for his son missing, and then his precious daughter was nearly beaten to death....Now it appears he was all for this turn of events. I doubt he didn't know what was going on with Shannon under his bed, when she was finally found........5 whole days Shannon was there.........Then I think about RC, and he did the same thing.....Now I have one more question...WHERE IS HALEIGH?????????

Followup. Just wondeing reread newsheralds stories this morning and they stated that Baker was babysitting other kids Tuesday night after mutiple calls from her, wonder where baby was then? Just curious and bet those parents are freaking out.

LE said Shannon was in a box under the bed from 8:00 AM (on Wednesday) until they found her at 9:55 PM that night. That's an awfully long time, and torture, on a child. Found in a soiled diaper - no clothes or blanket mentioned. We'll find out soon if Shannon was fed or clothed by way of clothes, food, or bottles found or not found in the home (and trash). When I think of the details, I do get sick to my stomach.

May there be swift and appropriate punishment in this case!

Oh Praise the Lord -- when I watched the presser this morn, the tears are still streaming down my face. The officer that found her just couldn't let her go -- what a proud "papa". When little shannon cooed, you see a room of grown men quickly turn their heads to make sure their little girl is allright. You can bet Shannon will never be failed and will only be in the best of care here on out.

I was up this morn when the news broke, but seeing Shannon alive is so much more than reading it in a chat room. Gotta tell ya!

What a glorious day!

Mel

It's not over yet. Pray that beautiful Shannon is not placed in foster care, but is released to her mother's family. I would hate to see her placed in foster care, not that it is a bad thing, but I have my reasons.

I thought I read there was supposed to be another update at 11am, Anyone know about that?

It was mentioned in the presser that Tina and her BF are no longer together. I wonder if that is because SB was pounding in to him the notion that "Tina knows where she put that baby"

Now, I remember why I took two days off work.
Amazing...I fully believe you guys busted this, and without everyone here, who knows where the baby would be.
And she is just beautiful (makes me want another, oops).
All of you guys, take care, and thank you for what you do.
Found alive, what a MIRACLE.

I wonder if it was SB who made the 2 complaints to CPS about the drug taking and lack of care? She'll probably claim she was saving the child from all the drugs and abuse at the house. Im still wondering why that CPS report was released.

:woohoo:

Thank God Shannon did not become another statistic..

Now to find out the connection between Paul, Susan and Chrystina..mom needs some help...

Susan and Paul Baker have a son missing since 1987, Susan Baker did 10 years for beating Paul's sister. They found Shannon under their bed...:furious:

DearLiveLaughLuv,

For those of us who don't know the details of what you are posting about could you fill us in please? I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Tricia

My own half baked suppositions:

Then WS gets involved and digs up the old baby Paul connection and forwards info to LE. They suddenly see her as a person of interest and the focus of the investigation swings to her. Uh oh. Now what? So Susan begins scrambling to figure a way out and starts finger pointing at mom.

Thankfully, baby Shannon is found and ALIVE and well. I wish this child stability, love, and happiness. What a rocky beginning for such a sweet little angel. Welcome back Shannon :) Best wishes from all of us baby girl.

I am so annoying -sorry. I really am trying to keep up here but am at work and get distracted, come back and the thread is 7 pages longer. Real quickly could someone explain who Paul is?

Omg, isn't everyone aware of what our members EastCoast and Cleo did? It's an incredible story!

I really am trying to reserve judgement on the mother.
Part of me wants to say that she is more than likely just another SB victim, used for her child...and part of me believes that.
But then theres the other part...the part that says, "Why are they still holding her?"
And the burning question for me: Where was Shannon for the time she wasn't in a box under the bed? Another poster asked, how could she have had Shannon while babysitting other kids? I wonder the same thing. Was she drugged and hidden? Was she at someone else's home, was she in the van?
I can never just bask, and I'm sorry.
I have a bad problem with leaving unanswered questions.

That was my thought process behind supposing that SB had manipulated her. I had read reports that both she and Rusty are on SSI due to mental health issues and reasoned that perhaps there was manipulation on SB's part (if indeed Mom had any involvment)

Here are the details in a nutshell.

I hope EastCoast doesn't mind me quoting the post. But the other day the following was posted by EC (in the first thread):

I just started reading this thread tonite, and the mention of the babysitters name rang a bell. I don't know if we are aloud to say it, but look up the Paul Baker missing thread on Websleuths. He has been missing since 1987, his stepmoms name is the same as the babysitter in this case, and they moved to Chipley Fla. years ago

EastCoast then called LE with the information and diligently followed up. By the grace of god, there are angels among us who are meant to be here at the perfect place and time.

Thank you EastCoast - you should be so proud!!

Hi :)

Susan Baker became a key figure in the case as sources confirmed she was a suspect in the disappearance of her own toddler stepson 22 years ago in South Carolina. That child has never been found.

What a quinkydink, eh? EastCoast was the first to bring that to our attention and called LE. Cleo was also a key player here as well. Kudos to them both for great sleuthing!

It was soooooooo much fun reading all the comments that were made when y'all woke up this morning! I am just finishing up my first cup of coffee. It was very exciting last night when the news broke. I don't think many know about how EastCoast and Cleo were involved in finding Shannon...!

This is Paul, SB's stepson.

Here's the pic of Paul Baker, at the time he went missing under Susan's watch:

And an age-enhanced one of what he'd look like today

What an adorable little boy and a nice looking young man. Praying for Paul's mom, as I'm sure this story has just churned up the horrific memories of her boy going missing. :praying: I wish he could be found alive somewhere, too!
