Sorry if this has already been posted but I thought it was so sweet. Fox news reported that Bud this this to their driveway for one of their anniversaries. It maybe hard to see but it is a heart with Bud + June and there is a date at the top but I couldn't make it out. View attachment 68340

You know, I was handling the Runion's murder until I saw this. No offense intended, but men can be somewhat aloof and dense when it comes to their wives, especially with the Runion's generation. This show of love tells me this man not only loved his wife, but he cherished and adored her. What a legacy to leave for your children! I am thankful this man was so outward in his love of his wife, his family and his community. Bud and June's life may have ended, but I know for at least me, their love for each other and their community will always reside in me and I plan on honoring their legacy by making sure I do what I can to pass on their lives.

I presume he did it because he expected them to have a large sums of money.
They were going to buy a car. So he would expect them to have a large amount of cash with them.

Yea but he didn't need to murder them if it was only about money, I think this was more than that.

It is not looking good for "Jay", that's for sure -- but, as I usually do, I'll wait a bit to fully make up my mind.

I tend to agree with those who have said that this was likely a drug-fueled crime, if he did do it. The brashness and outrageousness of any "plan" -- his thinking he could pull it off and not be apprehended -- is part of what makes me lean that way.

One of many things that is puzzling me, though: If he was drug-desperate and unorganized enough to go with this really crazy "plan", how did he convince the Runions to bite? He must be awfully silver-tongued to put up a story convincing enough to lure them down there, if they were the reasonably cautious, safety-minded folks it seems they probably were. I wonder if maybe the chance at the "perfect" Mustang was enough to make them say, heck -- this might be a scam, but what will it hurt to drive down and check it out -- no way we are gonna get "taken", we won't do anything stupid -- and it'll be fun, it'll be an adventure, even if we don't come back with a dream car.

In other words, maybe they had their doubts, but more along the lines of a would-be scammer -- not a murderer? In fact, that could have made them ask some hard and fast questions right off the bat at the meet-up -- and that might have made the perp freak out and ultimately do the unthinkable.

Just some thoughts, JMO.

Interesting since the black& white stripes he is wearing in front of the judge is Talfair County

He is supposedly in the Dodge County jail.... I don't have a link but I know I heard it on the news today.

After seeing the recent booking photo and snippets from the arraignment posted above, I am 100% certain that this guy is evil and scary, like on the level of Manson and Bundy. Those eyes. He looks just like all those guys to me. Jmo

Eta: omg, you know who he looks like to me/reminds me of in the arraignment video? Jeffrey Dahmer, jmo.

This is guy is a total scary evil nutjob, I can see it in his eyes. Jmo

Eta: which btw is a completely different impression of when I first saw the "camo photo" initially released when he was named as a suspect.

I've yet to develop the talent of detecting true evil in mugshots and snippets. I realize some do feel they can, and maybe they can indeed. I just don't feel confident, myself, calling it on a mugshot.

Agree he does look a bit like Dahmer. But then, Dahmer never LOOKED all that scary or evil to me.

ETA: He DOES "look like" a drug user, to me. But I could be wrong there, too.

If he took their money but left them alive they would obviously just go straight to the police.

They put in an ad for the car. They were actively looking for this very specific car. All he had to do is tell them he had that car. He could have pulled photo of the car from some website to show them. I don't think it would be difficult at all.

It's in the video of him in court, not just the mug shot.
His whole demeanor, and the LOOK in his eyes, tells me a lot, in my opinion.
IMOO.

I had trouble falling asleep last night, as I know many did, with all this going 'round in my head -- first, the awful sadness of it all, then trying to figure out scenarios of how it may have happened.

One POSSIBLE thing I thought: Suppose he set up a meeting place with them -- some say maybe a store, that's not from MSM, though. But say an old abandoned store. He might have said: "There's this old store, kind of a landmark - meet me there and then y'all can follow me to my place, because it's a little bit hard to find. I'll be driving a (whatever kind of vehicle) --when you see that. that'll be me."

So the Runions arrive at the meeting spot, park their vehicle to wait. Perp is concealed in nearby woods -- the plan is to come out, masked and disguised and with a weapon, and hold them up right there. In other words, try to make it look like someone OTHER than the "Mustang-owner" sees this older, Atlanta-area couple parked in this remote spot in South Georgia and decides to rob them (Nah, not a good plan either -- just one way he MIGHT have thought he could get money without killing.)

But maybe Bud balked, or Bud had a gun, too, or -- something.

What I meant was -- in thinking that he did this in drug-fueled desperation -- it seems a little bit odd that he would be able to spin a smooth enough story, come across lucidly enough to make the plans with them, etc., without sounding like a drug desperado.

That's why I said, maybe they had their DOUBTS that the car was going to be what he promised, etc., and were on the alert for any possibility of being scammed -- but just never in their wildest thoughts considered being murdered.

Why would he need a smooth story at all? They were looking for a car. All he had to do is tell them he had it. This isn't the first time craigslist ad led to murder. People need to be careful out there.

I just did a search of Jeffrey Dahmer to do a side by side. It appears imo that Dahmer's eyes look more "dead"...imo RT's are twinkling, like dilated, I agree he looks like a druggie and likely is...but he has been in custody many hours, his eyes are still like that...and I do believe he tries to look smug, there's a cockiness JMO

A gun was used to murder Both Bud and June.
Two people murdered.
What type of person does this?
That Is Evil to me!
What did he think was going to happen when there was No Mustang?
What did he think was going to happen if he did rob them?
What did he feel when one was murdered, then the other murdered?
How could he even get past the First Murder!!!
Two Murders.
That is Evil.
IMOO.

It would not surprise me if he was hopped up on drugs for the longest time, and maybe the residual effects last quite awhile.
IMOO.

You may be right, maybe that's all it would take. But it just seems as if the Runions were pretty savvy people who maybe wouldn't have pursued this if he sounded all jittery-joe or didn't say at least a LITTLE bit about the car and its history and how he came to have it to sell ...JMO. I think he would have had to have a little bit of a "story". Maybe not though.

I KNOW this isn't the first time Craigslist has figured in a terrible crime. Bet the Runions knew that, too.

Tallula.Belle, when you say you have read that several people have taken up for him, you mean on other sites (like FB)? I don't recall reading any of that here, I'd be surprised if I did. Thanks! :)

Oh yes other places...not here. I have kinda been glued to this, so been reading a lot. Some in the news report comments, some on FB etc. What I found really funny is many people were saying that wasn't a picture of RT but that it was his brother Josh. Well, his brother Josh was interviewed on the news today, so I wonder what they have to say now. Jeez
