Maybe the babysitter was worried that if she did call CPS, they would do nothing (like they are known for) and the family would stop using her as a sitter - taking the kids' safehaven with her away? Or maybe she worried the kids might be taken and put in an even worse situation (which is also possible)? Idk, I'm not ready to vilify her over not reporting it and she's probably wishing she had.
im not really either, we dont know why. she was telling someone.

I haven't been following this case nor read any news whatsoever. I don't even know where to start.

There is a really good timeline here by @wnk .

You would hope that a daycare provider would report suspicious marks to the appropriate agency.
I feel the babysitter was desperately worried about those kids.... and she probably felt she AT LEAST had the relationship with BJH to stay on top of things.

I think babysitter felt it had to come from BJH to go to child services.... since she took pictures and kept BJH informed.

BJH had custody. If the babysitter went around BJH, the babysitter would have lost the connection to the one who should be making the decisions.

In CA they are mandated reporters. I have no idea how it works in GA.

This babysitter was really just a neighbor, getting paid peanuts to watch those kids--sometimes all 3 of them.
The children all have different fathers.

This is the family culture... All of BJH's kids are three different fathers as well.... so in a way, its the only "way" that Quentin's mother was familiar with.

I've watched the argument clip a few times but for some reason am not sure I'm understanding the exchange - not sure if it's the accent and speech patterns: So the woman in blue tee is the grandmother, yes? And she appears to be defending herself by saying she was trying to provide for her family and that she has even provided for the babysitter? (Perhaps meaning that she had to leave town to work and that maybe the babysitting job was needed by the sitter and thus grandmother was providing for her too?) And the babysitter is saying that "they" were in the ditch? And no context is provided for who was in the ditch and when by the reporter or in the argument itself. I'm trying to unravel my mental "huh?". Any clarity would be appreciated.

Those poor babies living in this type of environment. <modsnip: not victim friendly>

I kinda wish we knew what preceded this exchange.
Both women are emotional because the loved and cared for the kids- the sad thing is that they are making each other enemies .
The real anger should be directed at the people that caused this little boy harm.

Police and court records paint a picture of tense and divided home in the weeks leading up to his disappearance.

We know Quinton was living at his grandmother’s home off Buckhalter Road with his mother, her boyfriend, and his two siblings. Quinton’s grandmother had sole custody of the toddler and his oldest sibling.

Let’s start with this police report from September 7th.

More at Records shed light on missing toddler’s family

The babysitter was being paid $30 per day to keep two small children all day long. I would not consider that to be "providing for her". The more appropriate term would be "taking advantage of her". JMO

Doesn’t excuse her or any of them.IMO

MOD NOTE:

Several comments have been removed for not being victim-friendly. It is okay to discuss a video released by MSM, but Websleuths’s rules still apply. As of this moment, no suspects or persons of interest have been named in this case. This includes Quinton’s grandmother and babysitter. Therefore, do not make random accusations, insinuations, suggest their involvement, trash, bash or attack them, or speculate negatively about them.

Also, do not reference interviews or video statements given by his babysitter (or anyone else for that matter) unless it is approved by a Mod/Admin or released by LE or MSM. If you can’t provide a link to an approved source, you can not discuss it.

If you have questions, read through the RULES, message a Mod or Admin directly or use the report feature.

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing known victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is known to be relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, or others who have not been officially designated by law enforcement or in mainstream media as a Person of Interest or suspect is not allowed (i.e. Sleuthing out this type of information, and publicly posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public is not allowed and such posts will be removed, along with any posts that encourage such sleuthing).

This does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media. Members may reasonably discuss what is said in MSM by them or about them, but do not make random accusations, insinuations, suggest their involvement, trash, bash or attack them, or speculate negatively about them.

Thanks for helping keep Websleuths amazing!

The "kids in the ditch" is referencing a time when the sitter found the boys playing in a ditch while L was home and apparently not aware of her toddlers whereabouts.

The argument seems to be that the sitter felt that Gma dropped the ball by working a distance from home and allowing L to continue playing part time mom.

Gma is relaying her anger regarding the fact that she had to make money to care for everyone else in her household and also paying the sitter.

A lot of the confusion over this clip can be cleared up by watching the babysitter's live video that was posted on Gray Hughes YT earlier in this thread. I don't have the specific link, but I'm certain many others here do.

The context is that the babysitter has publicly stated that there were times that Zayne (3) and Quinton (20 months) were seen by neighbors playing outside next to the street alone with no adult supervision.

Thanks so much. Somehow I missed the ditch episode and was adrift.
I was also suffering from a bit of regional “the two utes”.

I watched a longer video news clip on WSAV-TV. Gma was distraught because she thought the sitter had put a memorial in her yard. Gma is heard to say "That baby's not dead".
