ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The judge overseeing Young ’s historic gang trial in Atlanta has set a date for a hearing on a motion that would limit how much media outlets can record witness testimony during the trial.

Fulton County Superior Court Ural Glanville set Feb. 3, 2024, as the hearing date on Monday, before witness testimony resumed in Jeffery Williams’ - Young ’s real name - trial.

Fulton County DA Fani Willis filed the motion on Friday, listing one incident from a Dec. 5, 2023, forensic analyst’s testimony, during which ““menacing commentary appeared in the live chat for the broadcast: ‘we will see u later (witness’ name) Y$L gonna pop by later.”

Love is asking Stephens about Young using some of Stephens' life experiences in his songs.Stephens said Young was rapping about the fact Stephens used to sell drugs and carry guns but nothing specific.

When asked why he didn't rap about it himself and make the money, Stephens said, “I didn’t have the talent.”

Stephens, also known as Tick, acknowledged he is one of the founders of YSL, or Young Slime Life. Walter Murphy and Atlanta rapper Young , whose real name is Jeffery Williams, are accused of founding the alleged gang.

Trontavious Stephens pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to violate the state’s racketeer influenced and corrupt organizations (RICO) act. He was sentenced to 10 years, with two years commuted to time served and eight years of probation.

Prosecutors are now showing the jury a video of Trontavious Stephen's plea deal hearing, which he took back in December 2022. The video is about 20 minutes long.

We are going on a lunch break until 2 p.m. Once we return, we will continue to hear from Trontavious Stephens.

Before we take a lunch break, Young 's attorney Brian Steel said he wants to play the video of Young 's NPR Tiny Desk performance of "Droppin Jewels". Here is the full Tiny Desk performance video:

After the jury was removed from the courtroom, Young 's attorney Brian Steel was frustrated over a time recently in open court and in front of the jurors that Judge Glanville "yelled at him". Glanville said he wants to move past that.

The video of Young 's @npr Tiny Desk performance of "Droppin Jewels" is now being played in court to determine whether it can be played in front of the jury.

Prosecutors are now playing the official music audio of Young 's "Droppin Jewels", which was released two years ago on Young 's Youtube channel and has more than 4 million views.

The state is objecting to this specific performance being played in front of the jury and objecting to the
@nprmusic logo being shown to the jury.

Judge Glanville is allowing the state to take the lunch break to look at both videos and determine if there is any omissions or disparities between the song in the videos.

Attorney Brian Steel is trying to introduce an interview Young did years ago in which he talks about being "Truly Humbled Under God". Steel said it was the state who opened the door to be able to bring these videos in during Stephens' examination.

Prosecutor Adriane Love is saying that Steel actually "opened the door" about Truly Humbled Under God when he mentioned it during his opening statement.

Attorney Brian Steel is arguing that the state took the lyrics from “Droppin Jewels” out of context when they read them during the examination.

Steel argued for about five minutes about why he should be allowed to introduce the video of the song performance. Glanville took it under advisement and left the courtroom to make a decision on whether the video can be played.

Judge Glanville has ruled that he won't admit the videos (Young 's @nprmusic Tiny Desk performance of "Droppin Jewels" and his interview video) and can't be played for the jury at this time.

Attorney Brian Steel is going through the same lyrics prosecutor Adriane Love went through with Trontavious Stephens but after every question, Love is objecting, with Glanville granting most of the objections.

Stephens testified that "Droppin Jewels" is about Young talking to his kids and other people too, teaching somebody wisdom or knowledge.

It feels like every question Young 's attorney Brian Steel is asking Trontavious Stephens is being objected by prosecutor Adriane Love.

Attorney Brian Steel asked Trontavious Stephens if Sergio Kitchens, aka @1GunnaGunna, had committed any crimes in furtherance of the alleged gang YSL.“I don’t have any knowledge," Stephens said about Gunna committing crimes.

Gunna took a plea deal weeks before Stephens' took his plea deal back in December 2022.Gunna is not expected to testify in the YSL trial, per his attorneys.
