Not much happened today other than Trontavious Stephens testimony continuing with Young 's attorney Brian Steel doing the cross-examination. Judge Glanville told Stephens to come back Jan. 22 and he wasn't too happy about it. "No, but I'll be here," Stephens said.

Glanville also encouraged the jury to take the time off (Jan. 12-Jan. 21) to take care of their personal stuff and encouraged them to get flu shots, updated COVID shots or any necessary vaccines to remain healthy.

Stephens is testifying on behalf of the state as part of his plea deal. Glanville did thanked him for his testimony but also told him that he was required to be there. "You might want to talk to (attorney) Mrs. Gladden about what happens if you don't show up," Glanville said.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - After months of juror screenings, bizarre courtroom antics and pocketbook complaints from attorneys, a jury has finally been chosen in rapper Young ’s historic organized crime trial in Atlanta.

Here’s a primer on Young ’s trial so far; who are the major players; and what’s going to happen next.

I don’t like hip-hop. Who’s Young ?

Who’s Young ? Where you been? And who don’t like hip-hop?

OK, so rap isn’t for everyone, but Young is a big deal in American music.

His real name is Jeffery Williams, and he’s one of the most decorated rappers in history, having won multiple Grammys, MTV video music awards, and BET and American Music Awards.

But he’s also in trouble - BIG TROUBLE - with the law. Before this trial, Young had been arrested multiple times throughout metro Atlanta on various gun and drug possession charges.

On May 9, 2022, Young was arrested in Atlanta on gang-related charges. He’s been held in jail ever since, waiting on his day in court.

But even behind bars, Young is still ‘da man. I mean, who else could release a brand new album while stewing in a jail cell?

But he’s not alone in this, right?

Right. Young and 28 other people were arrested at the same time. But some of them have pleaded out; others have had their upcoming trials severed from Williams’ case; so now Young and five other people are being tried at the same time:

  • Marquavius Huey, aka “Qua”
  • Deamonte Kendrick, aka “Yak Gotti”
  • Quamarvious Nichols, aka “Qua”
  • Rodalius Ryan, aka “Lil Rod”
  • Shannon Stillwell, aka “Shannon Jackson” or “SB”

We got more from the YoungThug trial from last week to hold us over until Jan. 22nd, y'all. lol ;)

@meghanncuniff

Today in the Young trial:“Do you know who Serena Williams is?”“Yeah.”“Have you seen her at Wimbledon doing what’s called the Crip Walk. Do you know what Crip Walk is, first of all?”“Um, I don’t really watch tennis.”

Nearly unbelievable: The Young trial is done until Jan. 22.Tick won’t be back for more cross until then. Watching Tick’s testimony is becoming a lifestyle, when he should have been a two- or three-day witness.Judge Glanville recommended jurors get flu shots.

Young Trial: The DA’s office has asked Judge Glanville to prohibit members of the media from filming/photographing witnesses.

Obviously this is a high-profile trial and thousands of people have been tuning into the livestream each day to watch.

This comes after some witnesses, law enforcement members and even an ADA have become victims of "online doxing" and "threatening communications," according to the filing

Why am I not surprised? Although, I definitely think it’s probably the right thing to do.

This is an old article, but IMO Atlanta PD are on a serious power trip and use charges to punish those who don't fall in line (see: Cop City, among many other examples.) Putting a rapper on trial for his lyrics makes a mockery of the US legal system, again IMO. And it's interesting to see specific gun charges celebrated in the most pro-gun country in the world. Many people aghast with members of YSL for catching gun charges have no problem with Kyle Rittenhouse open carrying an assault rifle.

Judge Glanville set a hearing for Friday, Feb 2nd at 3pm for the camera motion. I guess we get cameras and naming of the witnesses at least until then.

GA v. Jeffery Williams, et al is finally back today but will cameras be allowed? On Friday, the prosecution team filed a motion asking the judge to ban video and only allow audio for witnesses. They are also requesting that witnesses' full names not be broadcast or published until after they are done testifying.

Court is in session. Started only 1 hour late today.

Meanwhile, Young 's attorney just showed the jury a video of LeBron James doing the “Wipe your nose” handshake w/ some teammates in an NBA tunnel.

Now he's showing the jury a video of Snoop/Dre's 2022 Super Bowl halftime performance.

Brian Steel: Do you know what stands for?Trontavious Stephens: Truly Humble Under God

@cathyrusson

Steel shows Stephens this GQ magazine photo of #YoungThug and has him identify the colors he's wearing. (showing jury that wears blue which is associated with Crips gang members and Blood gang members avoid wearing)

"One time's enough...." - Judge Glanville not interested in hearing #YoungThug's song again.

(smiling) at one time's enough.

First off, the cops can't bring any charges at all. Only the D.A. can do that. Regarding your comparison to KR, what legitimate business were these men guarding and against what rioters?
